    As a Direct to Consumer brand & showing (bragging about) off their assembly / shipping process in Germany yet NOT allowing simple customization ie; Seatpost setback, Stem Length, Saddle size, etc is insane. They are missing a HUGE Marketing advantage vs other brands ie; Specialized that box their stuff up in Taiwan loading up shipping containers to warehouse shelves in the states forcing buyers to customize separately in addition to new bike / frameset. All Canyon has to do is pick a different size from next bin while doing assembly - cost them NOTHING not $420.🙄

      The handlebar situation is the primary red flag here. Off the shelf integrated cockpits never ever work for me because I always need a lot of reach, according to my professional bike fitter. It would be nice if Canyon at least offered to buy back the stock handlebars.

      I have a Canyon Aeroad rim brake version and was prepared to just pick up the current version because I think it is the best bike I have ever owned. But, since they are now integrated, I had to pass solely due to the fact they would not swap out the bars. The excuse I always hear is that is how they are able to pass on the low prices. BS, they would have gotten $8k plus from me. Math aint mathin...... now I dont even care to look back to them, return customer RIP

    Absolutely love my Canyon Aeroad, same year in dark blue. Contemplated selling it for a fat profit but this is the one time where I had to refuse. As other person said, it inspires me to ride a LOT more. I put Farsports 58 Hypers on it, SRAM red crankset and several other lightweight mods and the 56cm bike now weighs 7.1kg WITH pedals and cages.

    Can't wait to see the review and comparison vid! nice work as always. I waited about 6 months before a 120mm cockpit was available. $350 shipped to west coast from Canyon. I changed it myself but it was an absolute PITA, wouldn't recommend.

    • @PatrickLino
      @PatrickLino  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah even mechanics mention how awful it is to change the cockpit. $350 isn't bad, all things considering. There are Chinese brands selling integrated cockpits for $400-$450.

      Exactly my experience. I needed a 120mm cockpit. The wait for me was about 7 months waiting for them to come back in stock. They couldn't give me any sort of date to when they would come in stock so I essentially had to check back with them every week with my fingers crossed. Eventually when the did come back in stock, they didn't even list them on the website. You had to speak with customer service to specifically ask for them.

    4:20, this has been a key factor steering me away from the Aeroad. It's a beautiful, fast bike, but the proprietary front end with NO options outside of Canyon's own cockpit doesn't bode well for a home mechanic such as myself. That, along with part availability, limits me to window-shopping this bike. A friend had the pre-2024 Aeroad and had to get his seatpost and fork warrantied and it took about 6 months each for both. Hopefully, the newer models have a lot less issues because it truly is a dope rig. Great vid, as always Pat. Looking forward to the full review.

      I've ridden a lot of affordable Chinese bikes. Yes I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea, but the ease of build is important for a lot of folks. $6000 for the Aeroad and not have suitable components can be a tough pill to swallow.

    Love the looks of the Canyon. IMO it’s only second to the Scott Foil (I have one). But, I can’t get past the fact that the bike is designed to be posted first and ridden second. This has introduced some serious design constraints that have caused issues. Then, you can’t customise in any way so you’re left with either taking on the cost of swapping parts or starting with a frameset.

    Sounds a fast bike. And comfortable. Which is pretty cool for an aero frame. As someone with similar proportions I know exactly what you mean. I Ride a 56 with a long stem. I can fit a 58 in terms of reach with a shorter stem but it just feels wrong. Also run, and rate the 135mm Selle Italia SLR saddles as found it my favourite so far.

    • @PatrickLino
      @PatrickLino  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I really like that saddle. Thinking of getting one for myself but I'm not sure if the narrow width is just a honeymoon phase lol

      @@PatrickLino You can have a small distance between the bones even if you're a big guy. At the same time, even small girls will have a greater distance than you because they give birth to children. Therefore, narrow saddles are counterintuitive, but it is more likely that this is correct than a wider one.

    2:06 don’t worry about seat post slipping issues. It’s also common with Seka RDC and Polygon Helios-A. 😂
    It’s just that the issue isn’t well documented on the internet as Aeroads’ do.

    • @PatrickLino
      @PatrickLino  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ariffau The Helios comes with a separate seat post clamp from the original. It works very well. No slippage.

    • @ariffau
      @ariffau 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PatrickLino true. But that’s dumb to have two seat binding mechanisms on a bike. One internal wedge and an external clamp. It also made the bike look like it had shorter seat post.
      At least Polygon fixed it and Seka RDC just released a newer model called the Spear. Lol
      PS you got the newer Polygon Helios A.
      We Asians rode the first one during the pandemic before Polygon provided the external seat clamp. Ask any Malaysian and Indonesian who rode their Polygon Helios A long enough and hard enough and you’ll have them slipping 🤦‍♂️
