Can you measure and report the typical resistance and the temprature coefficent of the filament to give us an idea of how we are doing with bulbs we may try?
The 1N4148 (all diodes) have a negative temperature coefficient when forward biased so the circuit would have opposite polarity. The coefficient is approximately -2.2 mV / Degree C. I have no idea about the temperature coefficient of the filament.
They are in parallel and configures so that the 7805 is a constant current source. Look up the data sheet for LM317 and the circuit for constant current there. The principle is the same with the 7805 with different resistor value required.
