- La Brea Pitch Lake is found in southwest Trinidad in the village of La Brea. The lake measures approximately one hundred (100) acres (41 hectares), and is estimated to be two hundred and fifty (250) feet (76 metres) deep in the centre. It holds about ten million (10,000,000) tons of pitch. It is situated about twelve hundred (1200) yards from the sea, in a depression immediately south of a 140 feet high hill, from the summit of which the ground slopes gently northwards to the sea.

Very Rich Country, well put together .
Trinidad is very blessed with natural riches, my Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇺🇸
Never knew there was was so much education to the pitchlake. That guide Amena should be a researcher for the government. So knowledgeable.
Trinidad has a lot of resources very rich country thank you again AT for another epic video much love girl enjoy Trinidad ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for refreshing my memory of visiting the lake in 1986. It brought back memories to me. It's a natural wonder of the world along with the Steelpan that was invented in Trinidad.
I am so happy that you provided educational content. Once again, you proved you are a special lady.
Blessings and continue to enjoy your visit ❤❤🎉
Very good geological history Ms. Amena you never get to old to learn something new. I always love the Earth sciences. Thanks for the vlog AT Louisville, KY USA
I am a Trini living in NY. I have never been to the pitch lake. I thank you for the information and keep up the good work.
Very good video. Best content production of the islands from all the recent vloggers that came to the Caribben islands . My humble opinion. Keep it up AT.
My sweet Trinidad 🇹🇹 is so blessed
Watching from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Blessings African tigress watching from Antigua an saying JAH guidance 👍🙏🇦🇬
AM SO GLAD YOU CAME BACK TO US ❤❤❤.....BE SAFE & CONTINUE THE GREAT CONTENT !!!
Looking at my old home town. Thank you AT for showing my brothers and sisters in Africa a wonder of the world. Viewing from Canada.
Thank you African Tigress, for visiting my village of LA Brea. I left over 20 years ago but my memories are very fond....As a young person growing up in that area I spent countless times bathing, exploring and just having fun in the lake.
I went to the Brighton Anglican school in the 70's (very close to the pitch lake) with Amelia and some of the other tour guides. I can also remember the tool shed being in it's original position/location.
Keep up the great work you are doing AT and continue providing us with all the wonderful content. 🇹🇹 🇰🇪
Awesome content, continue lifting Trinidad and Tobago up where they belong, bravo 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽
Hi Tigress,
Watching from Buruburu,🇰🇪
Nice content.
AT, I am glad you are doing this video. I am sure a lot of your subscribers are unaware of our Pitch Lake. This is a good geography lesson for all. When I was in elementary school, we were taken there for a school excursion. I remember some of the homes nearby were propped with a few logs at one side, because the pitch was eroding the soil under the houses.
I love Pitch Lake... All Natural...
I honestly thought when Ms. Amena was saying "dogs get trapped, cows get trapped, birds get trapped" she was about to say " and before I became a tour guide, I get trapped", ahahahahahaha.
But on a serious note, this was the most COMPREHENSIVE tour of Lake Asphalt I have EVER SEEN. Ms Amena knows her stuff. Strict like our primary school teachers though, lmao, when she says "don't move", you feeling as if she going to pick a hibiscus whip, Ahahahahahahahahaha. But she is a darling and hats off to her and her astronomical wealth of knowledge.
And to you African Tigress, thank you for your fortitude and determination to visit and showcase the abundance of our delightful and loving citizens, phenomenal sights, spectacular natural wonders and the remarkably positive energies of our twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. I absolutely loved how you included the images and videos of the critical things Ms. Amena was highlighting, for ease of reference for international viewers. You are AMAZING and ALWAYS welcomed home to us. God bless our Nation and God bless you African Tigress.
The water is very warm in pitch lake. I l love that place
Thank you AT for bringing my home village to the world 🌎 I applaud what you're doing 👏🏾
Girl ! You are on a Roll
AT, so you just have made a geological tour in 🇹🇹 😮❤ . Jacob 🇭🇹 NYC ...
watching from the usa ms keep up the good work I see you fall in love with the Caribbean
When you come to the Caribbean, you never want to leave. It is magical.
Great history lesson. Your videos never disappoint
Thanks for showing us the richness of the island that I’m learning through your video. May God continue to guide and protect you in your travels. Blessings
As,a,Jamaican,lovely
Geological, lessons ❤❤❤
I love this episode, haven’t been to this lake since I was a child, love how you’re being educated on this.😊
From my neck of the woods. Please note there are veins of the pitch throughout La Brea. If a house is built on a vein there will be shifting due to the growing of pitch. If your property is not on a vein you'll have no problem. The veins create problems with the road even after repaving. It may take a while but eventually the pitch grows out and creates bad road for driving.
Another Smashing Video AT very educational and knowledgeable experience Amazing
Oh my gosh Ms Tigress, I enjoyed this video. Seen other good videos on the Pitch Lake too.Our Pitch Lake is just AMAZING!!! First time seeing this lady, Amena, she is a boss!!! Wow! Her explanations were nicely executed and at a good pace for people like me who are not too science - based.Bravo, love the presence of her beautiful grand kids!
🇹🇹💕

Very informative information. I am a Trini watching in the USA. Enjoy your stay in Trinbago.❤❤
.
This is a field trip spot mosts Trinis probably went to in primary school. Thats how i visited many years ago. The guide probably did mention that the lake also pushs up artifacts from the first ppl, animals etc from timr to time. They're kept in the little museum you showed at the end.
Great video

Thank you AT, watching from the UK, great content, hate the ones where people are just seeking out gang activities, there is alot to see in Trinidad .
This is one of my favorite episodes. So interesting and very informative. Only thing I found annoying was the woman that kept talking in the background as the tour guide was talking. T&T is such a special island.
Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more videos. Much 💕
Hi African Tigress we’re great full for the great job that you are doing in the Caribbean and I surprised the last time I have been in Trinidad I met some creole speaking people I spoke to them in creole that was so nice.African Tigress for life.

Wonderful, being from Jamaica I learned about this place in high school, and it took a lady from Kenya, for me to see and know more about the pitch lake. One thing I love about your work is, although it’s entertaining it’s also educational. Keep up the good work. Don’t lime too much. BIG⬆️ yu self Af Ti.
I enjoyed this. I am a Trini living abroad and had visited the Pitch Lake several times in my childhood. As I never had a guided tour before, I learned so much from this video. Thank you so much to the very knowledgeable tour guide Amena.
There is also in Los Angeles, but I didn't know about Bermuda, so you learn something new every day.
Not Bermuda. She said the one in Venezuela is called lake Bermuda.
They’re called the la brea tar pits in Los Angeles , the one in Venezuela is known as lake Bermudez but the one in Trinidad is the largest commercially viable asphalt lake in the world
Subscribed thank for sharing tnt natural wonder of the world 🌎 ❤️
AT here's a special invite to siparia for the Borough Day jouvert celebration on Saturday 22 wish you would come for some southern hospitality
I loved this video; so much new info for me. I visited as a 16-y.o. donkey years ago but only looked and never taken on a walking tour. Thanks a lot!

Lovely video African Tigress! I enjoyed the informative video, subtitles, visual caiman display, information in your signature, etc. Your video quality is improving. You need to invest in a drone and some editing classes to really push the envelope. This lady is very knowledgeable about the area so BIG UP to Miss Amena. How can I get in contact with her? Oh ok, I saw at the end you asked her. Nice job! In the future, you may want to use subtitles because others may not understand her accent. Can you put her contact info in your signature? Great job though. I love watching you grow.
NOT the only one in the world. Venezuela also has one, which is much smaller than Trinidad's and the area is also called La Brea.
That was mentioned in the video 🙄🙄😒
Trinidad has the only pitch lake in the world that the raw pitch can be exacted and sell no where in the world has those natural deposits
Venezuela's pitch lake is very small in comparison to this lake
Yes, but I had not gotten there yet.
Trinidad has the only usable pitch in the world all the other pitch lakes have the consistency of crude oil.
Nice
Good work 😊
Welcome to LA Brea hope you had fun
Thanks for the videos beautiful queen I hope you live forever 💖
Dont know for sure but I was told there are no mosquitoes in the pitch lake due to the sulfur water.
Great
Some people commenting saying Trinidad is there old home I'm sure they ain't even ah citizens from Trinidad they only remembered Trinidad after seeing a youtuber vlog 👎👎👎👎👎👎
Thanks for the education

Love the p pitch lake
There are persons who live who has never saw the pitch much more to go in and document like you did, I heard that there is another in Moruga if I'm not mistaken
Yeah a smaller on e in Moruga
Greetings AT, I see that your country men has taken to the streets . Economic pressure is hurting the local people. The youths are fed up and had enough.
In Trinidad and Tobago there are many many opportunities for the youth. Education is free up to university. Free health care and many more. Some of the youths in Trinidad are lazy. Tell them to go back to school. You don't know so don't form opinions.
❤❤
😂Enjoy yourself A T❤❤❤❤
AT, oops you did it again. Another fantastic video. Your content separates you from the rest. Blessings and continued success AT.
