    Another crazy machine, thanks Soma! Too many manufacturers always repeat the same thing machine after machine but not you. Move forward is your DNA. Big respect for that.

    This is the first thing by SOMA that I don’t really understand. I watched various tutorials and walkthroughs, but I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. I am still intrigued to try it at some point, it might be something you have to learn with your hands.

      Some here I have an enner, the pipe and ordered a terra. I really would love to get this as a sequencer since I’m going to be using cosmos as a looper so that I’ll have a fully soma labs setup, but I can’t understand it for the life of me 😅

    Is it possible to use one Ornament-8 to control one Pulsar-23 and one Lyra-8 at the same time or do you need two Ornamenr-8? ☺️

    I understand now. So the time controls how long the note is held once you push the button. Once the note is done being held it triggers whatever cell it’s connected to to start playing, and then when that cell is done it moves onto the next and so on.

    looks awesome and super interesting! my wish - would you make it banana plugged instead of pins? stack cables are easier to handle and there are many banana gears wanting to interact with this!

    • @janhenckell4178
      @janhenckell4178 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      get some banana cables that are 4mm on one end and 2mm on the the other end. the alligator clips connect perfect to the 2mm end. voilà!

    That is another great device of Soma, but it’s difficult to define for what to use. I use the Pulsar 23 and this machine is very versatile but the ornament is really a chaotic machine

  • @macronencer

    Brilliant design, though I think I'll watch this again as there was a lot to understand! The thing I'm struggling with is the alligator clips... they feel somehow wrong to me, but at the same time I love them. I expect I will make my mind up if I ever get to use them for real :)

    As cool as this is, I guess, the roundabout process needed to create very simple-albeit "organismic"-sequences reminds me of a Cinco synthesizer, a la Tim and Eric. Definitely the Rube Goldberg machine of synthesizers.

      @@somasynths I mean, I'm good with English, but examples and manner in which you describe capabilities of this device are pretty difficult to understand. Maybe it's because I don't own Lyra or Pulsar and never had any modular synths. But I had Electron devices, so I understand what their sequencer is capable of. I didn't get how O8's sequencer works and how it could be used with other synths (for example Minilogue that was shown at some point). Guess more demos of using it with different devices could be helpful.
