KANDERSTEG-ALLMENALP Via Ferrata

Kandersteg is a mountain village set in Bernese Alps with surely a spectacular landscape.
Up to Alp Allmen leads this ferrata direct through 350m high wall up.
This route is very well secured, few bridges. Classified accord Swiss Via ferrata scala as KS4 which is hard.

Brings back good memories. I did this via ferrata the day after i did the engstligenalp chaligang via ferrata, in the next valley of Adelboden.

Did this with no gloves and trainers on in August 2020. Was tough at the start and had to have words with myself. Plus recovering from having my appendix removed the month before.

can you do this if only done moderate via ferratas?

the normal route is easy, but is full of people and quite used (slippery), there is a new variant (K5) that is beautiful and much more recommended. We did the variant with a group of 3 that it was their first time, and had no problem. Both should be fine if you have done moderate via ferratas before..

hello, can you hire the climbing gear or do you need to take your own gear with you?

hi, you can hire the gear directly by the cable car station Allmenalp in Kandersteg, by the parking lot, where this via ferrata starts. Season starts End of May. Enjoy it and be safe! :)
