I think he's partially telling the truth.. he thought it was a prank, but he wasn't sure and dread/panic started to creep in.
I think he thought it might be a prank, it might not but when someone is pointing a gun at your face you dont want to fuck around and wait to find out. He definitely wasn't laughing in the trunk like he says though, he was begging for his life lol.

@@BlueJWay999 In that regard though, with the way these skits are insured and approved, as soon as the gun came out, and no crew stepped in to stop the bit, it would have been really obvious to him that it was a set up. I always thought he really over acted how scared he was in that.

Yeah he is clearly still embarrassed lol and everything he is doing while explaining this nonsense is red flag city. He is contradicting himself left and right leading to everyone's confusion that's listening to him try to "tell the truth" but save face at the same time. He can't accept the fact he got owned. Sure he know the first half was a bit. But once that gun came out he was legitimately terrified. There is a reason in movies they cut to different takes every 2-4 seconds. That's to keep all the "emotion" in the scene and make it look real with lots of close ups. The reason they don't shoot movies at a distance showing everything at once and all the actors at once, is because it isn't as exciting or entertaining. This scene was shot in the most anti-movie way possible, with hidden cameras to show it was real. He knew about the bit with his part in the first half and where the cameras were and stuff, but he clearly didn't know any of that info in the second half or about the gun and kidnapping. That's why he is explaining this situation the way he is. With all that deflection and pivoting, goin off topic over and over to confuse, if it were true it would be a simple story, he wouldn't have to explain anything the way he does. Watch this podcast and listen to him tell any other story about his life or time on jackass. It's nothing like this, he is straight to the point in and easy to follow format. That's because he is telling the truth. He makes it clear he isn't telling the truth about this bit by emphasizing over and over how true it is......

From about 3:40 on where he’s telling the guy he’d fuck him up and acting all tough, no way he’d actually do that if he thought the guy was real. Everything he says lines up, he seemed more humanly emotional when he knew it was pubic hair 😂😂

I’ve met Ehren twice in person. Once at a art exhibit at a local bookstore. He was super nice, and signed my ex’s boot (the only thing she had to sign.). Another time I saw him at a Misfits show. I noticed him, and discreetly asked for a picture. I didn’t want him to get mobbed by people. I could tell he appreciated it, and he let me take a picture with him. Super nice guy, and hope to run into him again.

I think he's telling the truth but I also think his reactions during the skit are genuine. Like he couldn't tell if they were actually messing with him or not. Especially when he gets punched and put in the trunk. Your mind would be racing all over the place making it hard to process.

Sounds more like he is protecting his ego because he doesn't want to be perceived as a fool for being the victim of the best prank ever pulled. He is suppose to be prideful of doing REAL pranks/stunts but here he admits he is faking it? Maybe he was upset the idea was never his after all so it hurt his ego that not only was he the victim but he couldn't take credit for the bit either. So in his mind to protect his ego he creates a narrative where he knew it was a prank all along and HE was in control and HE created a reaction that he feels he could take credit for. This way in his mind he no longer a victim but a willing participant/actor which in his mind is better than being a fool.

@@Oleahhh You'd think so, but in moments of panic the opposite is true. Your brain is running on overdrive, not stopping to make sense of things. "I've got a bomb" is something that makes sense to the fight or flight mind in a moment of life and death. The brain isn't thinking "Is this logical?", it's thinking "he has a weapon, let's say we have a bigger one".

The fart helmet came close, though. You know it is going to be rough when you know there are a bunch of Marines in the audience, someone starts gagging and one of the guys yells "Look out! POOOOOOOOK!!!" at the top of his lungs.

First of all he’s saying the most out laddish stereotypical shit dressed as a stereotypical terrorist with a film crew following and a cameraman with him.
The fact the camera man didn’t freak out, the dude didn’t shoot him etc pretty obvious it’s a skit. Even if he thought the guy was legit odds are the guy would take him to the police or run away. He has a bomb strapped to him.

It sounds like he's trying to say that since he thought it might be fake when he initially heard the idea, that means he technically knew it was fake from the start. Even though he didn't know the specific event in the taxi was fake in the moment while filming.
no he knew when the situation started changing that it was likely a set up, ive been in his situation, its so frustrating knowing the truth yet no one believes you because your acting and actions are so believable as to not be real to people, so not only is your genius not seen but you also look like a liar and a fool

Why would a guy who believed they were near a suicide bomber think pulling a gun on them is a good idea especially if they didn’t shoot. Like a real bomber who was planning to die wouldn’t let themselves be arrested or be thrown in a trunk if they have a bomb strapped to them they’ll just bloom themselves up
yes they would. if you were in a car with a guy who claims he has a bomb vest, you wouldnt shoot him since if its a deathman switch the bomb would go off as soon as the person dies.

I fell like Ehren is just a weird dude. And there can actually be two truths to this story. One where he knows it's a skit because, I mean, come on... They are filming jackass and a taxi driver puts him in a trunk at gun point and then does donuts. But I also believe his fear was genuine and his freakout was real even though he still knew this was all a prank. Does that makes sense to anyone else?

Reminds me of going on a roller coaster…. You know it’s a “ride” in a controlled environment but it still can illicit genuine fear.
Most people at the end of ride play it off as if they were in control (of their anxiety/fear, etc) the entire time.

@@dallascollins3503 He didn’t say he was “in on it” he said he realized it was going to be a setup because Jeff T told him they were going to film his skit but he went back and looked at his notes and he never suggested that skit. He said it like three times that he didn’t know what or how it was going to play out but knew from context before that it was going to be a setup and just rolled with it to get the best comedic outcome.
He knew something was going to happen, but when you watch it you see absolute fear in Ehrens face lol ;)

I always wondered as a kid, why would he say I have a bomb when he could just be like "we're filming a movie, I'm in a costume" or something along those lines. It all makes sense now, especially after watching the skit again. It's actually pretty easy to tell that he's just playing along. I believe him.
Even in the jackass forever trailer, ehren looks like hes trying way too hard to convince everyone hes candidly scared when the bear comes in and hes laced up with honey. There can't be any REAL FEAR when everything is staged..

This was the skit that taught me other people have moral limits on what they find funny, I watched this with my friends, I power laughed from start to finish, one of my favorite jackass skits, everybody told me I was fucked up and that skit is too far.
Ehren was pretty passionate this episode sticking up for himself. He really doesn’t want to keep being shit on for how they treated him in the past. I feel for him and can believe he was just putting on an act because it made for a more entertaining skit, and he is right.
