I have the tripod with my unit and have no problems with it for what the unit does ... I do hate that cap! Also, I feel you about the "back" thing. I have worked on aircraft for the military for too many years. Thanks for the review.
Good video KP i just got mine yesterday and got it synced to the app. I mounted my Celestron 130 astromaster OTA to it. It weighs 7.5 lbs. I'm hoping to see my first deep sky objects soon. If the clouds allow.
It’s been a rough summer. Every time I thought I had time there been issues with the conditions not working out. I got a little frustrated, but not with the device, just with my luck and my excitement faded a bit but I need to get over that and get back out
I just got my GTi today. I was able to polar alignment and don't have any issues with star trailing, but the go to function seems to be all over the place. It'll get pretty close with 1 star alignment, but then when it wants me to manually center Jupiter in my camera viewfinder and save, the arrow buttons on the SynScan app move the mount in all kinds of random locations which prevents me from being able to do 2 or 3 star alignment. And then my deep space objects don't show up when I use the goto function. I'm sure it's user error, but it's very frustrating
Most of my issues with the GTi have been user-error. Have to make a point to go out several times to get the hang of it. It's been awhile since I used it now and think I might be rusty again.
Nice video … just ordered my kit yesterday You mentioned about Jackery 300. would you recommend it, or any other make/capacity for astrophotography (tracker, ASIair, camera, guide scope) based on your experience! Thanks
Hi, neat video. Out of interest, when you're powering from portable power like the Jackery, what cable and plug types are you using? Thanks for sharing
Hi Knee, What I would like to know please is what's the thread like on the Dec clutch ? I have only a Sky Watcher star Adventure Pro right now and the RA has a very similar clutch locking ring.( the black part) The thread is 50mm and is absolutely awful, it is so lose it rattles and cocks over to one side when you tighten it. I took a video of this and sent it to sky watcher and they were kind enough to send a new set of parts to me and guess what they were the same rubbish. I have to wind PTFE tape round to make up for the slack in the thread. I spent 45 years in British Engineering and we get crap from china like this makes me feel sick. Probably made from recycled beer cans. Would I buy a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi NEVER cheers Richard From across the pond.
I loved the message at the end about helping animals

Thank you for the review. I like the clamp for your Jackery. Where can I get one?
