zed’s games never really scared me, i was usually more intrigued in the stories and surprisingly well written characters (who, ironically, can be very human even if they’re a rabbit or giant cockroach) but the whole thing with the fish being full of parasites gives me the creeps. i’m still watching regardless but dear god
I think it’s incredible that these character designs in a worse game would be subject to ridicule but Zed just makes such fun and interesting games most people are willing to look past it and enjoy the experience
I think Zed was simply successful in finding the exact audience for this niche. And we'll done to them honestly
Feel like it’s cause Zed doesn’t make a big deal about it. Their games don’t focus on the crazy designs so it’s easy to not pay attention to (atleast for me that’s how it is)

I'm not even looking past it, I'm seeing it and being THRILLED about it! A fat main character! TWO of them! It's genuinely so lovely to see! I never see characters with my bodytype represented in a game and there's TWO of them here! And their weight isn't the standpoint, they're just fat and doing things! I love it so so much!

But I get what you mean, it’s cool to see more unique character designs, rather than the norm of just the standard medium to skinny bodied protagonist. I love the fact that these characters give off the vibe of having a southern drawl.
I find myself excited when I see new games from this creator. They have a unique style that makes them stand out from other games (and I'm not just talking about the models).
I get a Louisiana vibe from the characters and setting. Can't place my finger on exactly why.

@@KlintKaras He likes his women big and top heavy. It's just his preference and there's quite a bit of variety in his models on proportions and overall weight with even average weights thrown in to not make it one note. Guy has a vision and I respect that a lot.

There's nothing wrong with having that body type, but literally every woman in his games looks like that. one thing i have definitely noticed about these games is that the creator is incorporating actual aspects of the player characters as mechanics quite a bit actually.
In this game, playing as Angela the Angler Fish it’s hard to notice but you have a source of blue light constantly around you as you walk
In the game about the Midnight maids, since you were a cockroach person you could carry 4 things at a time thanks to your extra set of hands
and the one about Egyptian Gods and such, when playing as the actual goddess you didn’t need to use the Ankh mechanic since well, your unique natural sight is more then capable of seeing what the Ankh can see.
it’s a very small thing but i absolutely love it when game devs go out of their way to look at a character design and ask “what special things about who or what they are can we adapt into gameplay” even in just small ways like this
I will never be able to predict this developer, and that's part of the charm. Narratively, this one is pretty unique even by their standards but I dig it. It still has that strong message of hope, some uplifting angle and just being good people. And hey, angler fish now. Definitely didn't expect that.

I love how all of the protagonists in Zed's games are working class Joes in a mostly rural area. In spite of all the fantastical elements (and character designs), they come across to me as relatable.
Zed's characters are all soso well written, I love the use of mature female characters and not just. for .... weird? reasons. they're like. they're written like actual people. also, the style reminds me of those old kids books
Gotta love the narrative in these games. The dev even manages to write key tutorial seamlessly into the dialogue.

I find it interesting how it's got endings of "hey thanks a lot, here's your pay." to "you failed so now you're dead, your friends are dead, people in the area are dead, their loved ones suffer from their disappearance, and the world is doomed...love is over."
Oh thank god! I was trying to watch some one else who was playing this and I just couldn’t. It was so frustrating and irritating how they’d be loud and CONSTANTLY get off track from what they were supposed be doing to actually play the game.
I’m spoiled by the calm gameplay, light humor, and tasteful commentary WHILE ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME.

zed technician truly does his own thing every single time and i think he might lowkey be one of my favourite independent creators at this point- his stuff is just so *fresh*.
the content never has any shades of sexualization despite the exaggerated nature of the character models, the characters are almost always down-to-earth, nuanced working class people despite being some utterly buckwild animals or mythic creatures, and he never succumbs to the urge to be pointlessly grimdark- there's always a truly happy ending available.
it's just nice, y'know? like zed's out here going "yes this possum woman is thick as hell but she's also got debt from taking care of her late mother's medical debts and the community has a duty to help her defend her livelihood from a transdimensional horror" and i just think that's neat.
Zed is an enigma. His stories and dialogue hint at a fleshed out living world full of intriguing concepts and characters that you only get glimpses at through venusian southern-black-woman-coded lenses.
I just love how Zed's world is so ... fantastical and wild, yet feels like just another day at the office in mundanity.

The thing I love most about Zed’s games and universe is that anything has the capacity to be good, even things that outwardly look monstrous. The evil parasite fish aside, the monster from the very first Zed game is now effectively a lap dog, the eerie shadow people from the diner game are just regular honest people, and that’s not even mentioning the objectively scary looking characters we get sometimes like Angela and the wolf man from the hospital game. Zed’s games have such a fully realized personality behind them and it makes me so happy seeing new releases from them
I bet even the fish could technically be good! Like, if the monsters are really its parasites (though I theorize that it’s something more like the fish’s offspring for reasons that are too long to type out here), then is the fish really at fault? It seems like that would mean it’s a victim of the monsters too. If there was a way to free the fish from the parasites, while also preventing the parasites from hurting anyone, it might not be so evil after all
Each game almost acts like a bedtime story, but they each have so much soul to them. I think that's why I love them so much, they are simple and calming, and you can't get lost easily

It was of being locked in my house, with all my windows wide open and something staring in at me constantly, no matter where i went.
It was a mad dash to find a room with no windows, and i remember just the rough shape of it.

I think my favorite thing about these games is that the real horror doesn't come entirely from the atmosphere but more if you botch the job you need to do. Like if you mess up the game makes SURE you know it. It's like diffusing a bomb with the instructions on how to disarm it beside it. Easy but *don't-screw-up.*

I saw the parasites in the forest and I thought “kinda reminds me of the monster from the first game.” And then there it was now collared by the gal it was after from the first game. One of my favorite part of these games is seeing that connection to others in this world.
I LOVE The diversity of characters, not just the fact their animals, but skin tones and even the inclusivity of different cultures. I genuinely respect Zed so much for branching out and doing their own thing with these characters.

Theres always something so off-putting about zeds games, they almost all are totally random things, but sometimes its terrifying because you imagine it in a real scenario, and also zed is quite funny with some of their jokes, like with the sandra protag cameo with that monster from their game as their pet. just a good developer all around as i've seen, other than really weird body proportions.

Seriously, seeing Angela brought back memories of playing E.V.O.: Search for Eden.
I’ll be honest, at first I was skeptical of Zed’s stuff because of the obvious reason; my knee jerk reaction was “oh boy here we go again caricaturing women’s bodies”. But I can tell thought and effort were put into the characters, the story, the environment, and the gameplay. The women characters are actually very brave and smart, and I appreciate that there’s actually some depth to their personalities. It sort of grew on me. No pun intended lol. I’ll have to go back and give the others a chance!
There's clearly heart and thought put into these games, so it becomes clear they're not just an excuse to be horny. It's more that they're wholesome and clever, and also horny. And, hey, why shouldn't they be?
It's so nice to see a game developer so devoted to not trying to be like everyone else. No stupid teenagers, lots of creative designs, no serial killers, no ps1/vhs style, it just feels so much more memorable. Like the game where you make food for shadow people, or clean up a house while hiding from ghosts. It's nice

This was just wonderful. The array of people in this world is fascinating. Now a zaftig pretty witch and an even more zaftig angler fish, working together. And a sleeping whale fish thing that must be kept asleep with chains.
The best thing about every Zed Technician game is the uplifting messages about the common working person, doing the right thing, having a sense of morals and of helping their fellow human and/or animal. Everyone bonds with each other, everyone is fairly treated and fairly paid. Thank you for showing us the special epilogue from the hard difficulty too! That is the one other thing that is nice about all of these games - it's not about the difficulty, but just about happy game play and enjoying the personalities and stories of the characters. :)

Yknow, zed technician's works are shockingly inclusive and tackle subject matter like racism in healthy ways and also has some of the only protags in games that arent skinny. There are lots of variety of body types and races in their world and it is fascinating to see!

Zed really did not have to go that hard on designing the parasites. Genuinely an unsettling creature.
Everyone in Swamp Witch Simulator is so professional and polite to each other. It's cute. Not much attitude in these particular characters, where some previous Zed Technician heroines have had a little snark or a world-weary edge. But hey, our witch girl got Heartwarming Character Development in the tough mode ending!

Second darkest, the last game with Monica as a playable character had invincible Egyptian gods completely wiping out humanity out of a combination of spite and boredom. At least this time it's hinted that humanity can fight back against this monster so at worst, we go down kicking and screaming.
Otherwise not bad, kind of the closest we've gotten to an open world game in Zed Tech's zany little world. Which... yeah would be hard to code but still, I'd just want to see what sort of delightfully crazy world his head exists in.

The legend is back!!! I'm actually really relieved it's been a while since a Zed_Technician game. The pace they were releasing titles at really had me worried for their well-being.

I LOVE Zed Technician’s games! They’re enjoyable little puzzles that have such charming horror elements to them. Zed’s ability to tell a fun story using character POVs as different game mechanics is incredible. Yes, it’s no Resident Evil, but I think that’s what makes The Fish’s Tale so enjoyable. Its like a TH-cam skit compared to a feature-length film; substantial and satisfying, but with less of a long-term commitment.
