To all the critics complaining this isn't being played right: if this sounds like a piano that has the capability to do this Cadenza justice, then I'm as good a pianist as Vladimir Horowitz is.
Furthermore, even if this was played on a Steinway Grand: appreciate it for what it is. An attempt made by an amateur. People are quick to say "You shouldn't play this until you're better". Immediately ask yourself: what makes you think the person wants to be better? My logic is, someone unsatisfied with what he has achieved would not display his work. And if they enjoy what they are doing that is all that matters.
I've listened to this Cadenza played by world-class pianists thousands of times, I have the highest of standards when it comes to this concerto. That does not inhibit me from appreciating this attempt on the Cadenza. In fact, what I hear pleases me. It would never do so in a concert hall, but I'm not in a concert hall, am I?
Thank you for sharing this. It pleases me greatly to hear people who love Rachmaninoff enough to bring this Cadenza to this level

If you are an amateur, thats fantastic work !
However don't forget this is not a stand alone, it is a cadenza which comes after a whole 2-3 minutes or mysterious wanderings, where the atmosphere is strange and heavy, thats why when cadenza finally erupts, it explodes rather fast and it requires a lot of unleashed energy.
Try once to play the 4-5 pages before then make the transition, you will see what I mean.

@@janedont1205 Well, professionals hear different things, they don't just listen for fun, thats what amateurs do. Music is a language, when is wrongly spoken, some people may object.
Also, constructive critics are good, how else to improve.

@@salvationbygracealone5111 The title is "Rachmaninoff's most difficult Cadenza". To my knowledge of Rachmaninoff's music which I've loved, played and listened to for years, this statement is most certainly true, a Cadenza of higher difficulty by Rachmaninoff is something I have yet to discover.

While I do like the clarity in the recording presented, I would like to make a few notes. First of all, the piano doesn't do it justice, but that is beyond your control. Secondly, I think that playing it so slowly, while helping with the clarity of the cadenza, really makes the main theme in the big chords unrecognisable, it just loses its momentum. If you could find a way to make the main theme momentous, while sacrificing the least amount of clarity, it would immediately sound way better. Good job however on tackling this 👍

@@milton3204 🤣 You have to read my post the ‘right’ way, though - I did NOT expect him to be able to play like Volodos, but I pointed to the fact that IF played by Volodos - the OSSIA Cadenza is one of the most BEAUTIFUL and AWE INSPIRING pieces of Music EVER WRITTEN!
‘Rach 3’ is the subject of several films, including one with the deceased Sir John Gielgud, and the reason for TWO different Cadenzas is simple: Rachmaninoff realised that the ‘OSSIA’ was so difficult to master that he wrote a ‘simpler’ version which sounds just as wonderful, but is ‘easier to master’!
I have listened to the ‘OSSIA’ with just about every current and past concert pianist, but - in my humble opinion - Volodos is the ONLY one playing it with the CORRECT TEMPO, PASSION and ACCURACY that the Cadenza demands!
