Genius stuff! Your critical thinking skills are most impressive. The pulp mix looks spot on. You just kept fine tuning this process and it is a joy to watch. 👏
Thank you Roger. Almost finished. Probably another three weeks or so. I’m going to have to clean and leaf cast a few of the interior pages to hold the staples in their right position. I’m glad you are enjoying the “Saga.” I am definitely enjoying the process and learning a little as I proceed. 👍
Jerry your work should be the new -satisfying videos- to people not even into comics. You are meticulous about all this. I may have books that need pressing.
Elvis left the building! :( Come back Elvis! A fascinating video! Just a thought and a question, how about if you made a two pulp juices, one white and one tan? You think mixing the tan juice into the white one as you stir until you see the desired color will work? Eagerly waiting for the next video. I hope it is a finally. ;) Thanks for all the hard work! Take care! ~NammaN~
Thank you my friend. Today is the day Elvis died so I thought I would honor him. I love your suggestion about making two pulp solutions. Just like darkening a lighter paint by adding the darker color. I am going to employ your suggestion next time. Bravo.
Thank you. The pulp sticks better where the cellulose is painted on. It does fill in other areas as well without the cellulose. I use it in troubled areas that need a little more attention. Thanks for stopping by.
Every time I look at your videos I find something that tops the others. This great. What do you do if there are other colors that the white/off white. Have you done the Leaf casting for that?
Thank you! Yes sir. My leaf casting techniques have improved significantly since then. Check out my series about the Hulk 181. I have an upload about creating different color pulps to match different color papers.
I let the cover dry naturally between my thick pieces of glass with weights sandwiched between Paper towels that are changed often. No heat here. I tried heat in the past and the cover became wavy and rippled to the extent I was unable to press it out. Slow and steady drying is the key 🔑
It does that by suction from the water draining from the bottom and by making a perimeter with the craft foam. Check out my newer uploads regarding spot leaf casting which is the process I use now. Thank you for stopping by and supporting the channel.
Thank you for your question and support. CGC allows leaf casting as part of the conservation of a comic versus restoration. The leaf casting has to be a degree and quality to fall within the A-1 category. Whether my leaf casting would fall within this category I am uncertain because to date I have not submitted a book after performing the process. Stay tuned because I plan on doing it in the near future.
Have you ever tried using old ratty copies of golden age books as your pulp source? Would that help with the color match for interior pages? If you haven't, I can donate a stack of coverless cartoon comics from the late 40's/early 50's you could use to try.
Thank you! I have and at least for me it did not work well. The paper from the vintage newsprint books do not dissolve and blend to the consistency I need. Also I try to use acid free paper. Thanks you again for the offer my friend.
Hello my good friend another awesome video
Thank you!
I found this absolutely mesmerizing to watch. Bravo!
Thank you! Your kind words are much appreciated
Wow, Fantastic watch buddy. Love the patience and care you put into it. #keepitcasual #fullwatch #growtogether

Amazing work! It is a pleasure to see you work. Thanks for the show!
You welcome my friend. Glad you enjoy!
It's coming out great so far. I cant believe how many steps there are.
Thank you my friend. You are right, there are many steps and a lot of the steps are off camera. Appreciate your support!

Thank you and let me know. Shoot me a PM on Instagram. Thank you.
Amazing!
Thank you my friend!
Hey I thought we were going to see the end results!! You've made it into a cliff hanger!! Or a Soap (and water) opera!!
Thanks Greyman. Hahaha. I thought I was able to finish, but the upload was running too long. Stay tuned my friend.
You're turning us comic book geeks into scientists.
Mad scientists. Hahaha
So much time and effort to save a book. Look forward to seeing the result. Good job mate 👊
Thank you my friend.

Wounderful Brother thank you love this 💓🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💓
Thank you G Spot. Your support is greatly appreciated and one of the reasons why I do it!
Nice! Good job! Interesting process... So where you put the cellulose is where the pulp sticks, and not anywhere else?

@@jerrythejitterbugcomicbook4098 Found it thank you. Just realized I asked this before. Sorry about that.
I love it. Comic Pina Coladas
That’s right my friend. I was thirsty. Hahaha
Didn't realize the soak itself was done that quickly. Do you just air dry the cover or do you put some kind of heat while drying?

I want to see how you punch the staple holes after the leaf casting is dry.
You got it my friend. Upload will be tomorrow or the next day my friend.
When you poured in the pulp, how did it disburse to the edges on its own?

@@jerrythejitterbugcomicbook4098 Thank you for the explanation Jerry. I’ll stick to studying your current process. Great videos by the way 👍.

This considered restoration or conservation ?

The old golden age staples alone might come in handy!
