I love this game as a proof of concept. It really was incredible for its time with such a small selection of rpg's. I also thought beyond the pointless random encounters that the dungeons were really well made for the style and pacing of leveling up all your guys. It was trying to add too much open world elements that made it sort of gimmicky in retrospect. If it were brought up to date it would definitely be an amazing game
I would have loved Inindo more if it included other major and minor islands that are part of Japan, notably the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa), Kyril Islands, Sakhalin, and Hokkaido, not just Kyushu, Skikoku, and Honshu Islands.
The begining is hard as hell I was getting robbed by ronin other ninjas left n right and there alot stronger then the hero til later in the game but most ninjas become obsolete which I wish they were allowed more power and stats.

SNESdrunk, you bring lots of games which I've never heard of to my attention, and you do a great job of making it interesting. I really appreciate your videos and your style. Thanks!
Not sure if you'd like it, but I'd recommend trying Uncharted Waters New Horizons( SNES or Genesis). It's a really interested KOEI game that's like a 1500's world explorer sim with 6 different characters with their own stories to choose from. It feels really slim in certain areas (most cities look the same) but there is something about sailing your boat or fleet, finding new ports and countries etc that's enjoyable. Also on Wii virtual store.
This was one of the SNES games I actually had my parents buy me and still have to this day. I thought it was a bit of a crime to not mention the overhead strategy bits which I thought were the most fun part of the game.
I still have my childhood copy of this game. I love it for its random wackiness and I always loved the battle mini game when taking over provinces. There were social sim aspects, random battles, mini games, etc. This game was ahead of it's time, even though it was riddled with mistakes like poor repetitive textures, music, dungeon design, etc. but this was a port so it makes sense.
This is one of those games that Ive always saw at my local video store and considered renting, but then forgot about it until now. Thanks for doing a video on this game!
Yeah, it's too bad the graphics were so awful here, but I think a lot of what kept people from spending a lot of time with this game was a difficulty. This game tends towards being quite hard, especially early on, where pretty much anytime you get attacked by another named character that you couldn't run away from was almost certain defeat. It sucks, and it's too bad, because as you say, this showed a lot of really cool ideas. It just wasn't packaged very well. Like the Uncharted Waters series, a sequel could've been a hidden gem.
I was amazed at how ahead of it's time this game was. Sadly, they weren't implemented as greatly. Anyone interested in games with unique idea, give it a shot.
Very true. I just read about it. Just like their other "Historical Simulators" like Romance of Three Kingdoms, Nobunaga's Ambition, Inindo was meant to be a samurai simulator, so they went for a more JRPG style. Their Uncharted Waters series is a pirate simulator.
I love this game and this is my SpeedRun (is currently the world record) I completed recently, I also created a new version of this game called Sunshine remix (see description for more details), where I did the translation into the language of my country (Portuguese-Brazil) and added many new features in-game, such as new classes items and characters, new colors for all characters and enemies and map senarios. th-cam.com/video/EO9l5X1COmU/w-d-xo.html

Never finished it since you have to play for hours and at the time i encounter other better looking rpgs which made me stop playing it. But its a fun game once you get used to it, the grind aspect obviously resembles 7th saga but i also find 7th saga a better game.

Thanks! I have been wondering for years about this game. I played it a long time ago and could not remember the title. I could have swore it was a NES game lol.

I actually really like the art style of this game, put aside some really lazy locations. It's rough around the edges but a breath of fresh air compared to the homogenous look of popular JRPGs.
Never heard of this game. Looks pretty neat actually, almost like a hybrid between a JRPG and a WRPG if that makes any sense. Just FYI all "i" sounds in Japanese sound like the the "ee" in "knee". Which is weird, because if you hear a Japanese person say "ninja" it sounds like "neenja". So in English the name of the game would be pronounced something like "ee-nee-nn-doh".
Whatever lol this game is pretty good, only that you might need a guide to find all the training place(or just search the world map) you can select which clan you wanted to team up, work for them and much more, it's fun to say the least if you can handle the flaw
One of my favorite RPGs on the Super NES. Sadly, it ain't like how I remembered but still fun if you put the time and effort into it. Or just use the Game Genie...lol.
I rented this game back in the day and I was blown away. The RPG mixed with a living world of clans vying for territory created an epic feel that I can’t even find today in modern games, not like this, anyway.
Yeah this makes sense, the Genesis some early games that absolutely did not take advantage of hardware assets either which imo hindered it's early years (Master of Monsters ex). Even from Sega themselves which is even worst...(Phantasy Star II+others comes to mind). Come to think of it, it seemed to take Sega longer to optimize their own hardware, at least until Streets of Rage 2/Bio Hazard Battle/Sonic 2 for ex (1992) to really show the consoles prowess. Meanwhile Nintendo had optimized 1st party material right from the start with Smw and Lttp. Competition is good I guess lol?
I really hate the random battle thing, thats why I havent sat and played the final fantasy games through. the random battles just annoy the hell out of me.
No matter how much territory I gained I could never get Nobunaga to battle me so I eventually gave up. I had fun though and appreciated the amount of different equipment and there was a gambling game too, right?
i like this game but its hard to recommend to most people since its a very slow game but if your like me who likes alot of different RPG's i think its worth trying out on an emulator first since the game is not as cheap
Let's see he got some stuff completely wrong. Didn't mention much about the war function. The spying, or the fact you can only meet some characters, if certain characters die. If your ally has an opposing views they will eventually leave your party. Characters can die in wars you're not in. It's possible to convince the daimyo to go to war if they like you. You can help one faction take over most of Japan. Some characters follow you around the map to join, or kill you. There are even certain texts that let you know if you lose the battle, that you're not just beat but dead. If your allies go down in battle and you don't revive then, there's a chance they will die. There's so much more to this game that he left out, that makes me think he never really played it
OH MY U DID A VIDEO ABPUT TIS GAME, I LOVE THIS GAME AAAAA BUT IS SOO HARD BUT I LOOVE IT AHAHHA and i also, never had ANY knowledge baout gis game. I stumbled on it and just played. And i dont know anything about it or anyone who knows aboit it
Awesome exposition! It's better than mine from my FAQ way back. Gamefaqs.gamespot.com is featuring a bizarre message board topic on its front page today. Check it out. I do not mind the video showing the wacky error messages in the game. I do wish you had talked more about the RPG aspect of the game and how it measures up. Being that it *is* an RPG. How do the battles measure up once you're past the Giant Rats? You have one item of blatantly bad information. You can only recruit party members at Level 7.
This game should have had more than a cult following. Winning could be done by force, diplomacy, cunning, luck, or strategically using all your available tools. I love this game. It's too bad it was a singular title.
One of my all-time favorite SNES games precisely because of all of the options available to you. You missed talking about the "two paths" your fate could fall to, the war game elements, and some other stuff. Yes, it's TEDIOUS, but it's SUPPOSED to be. It's something out of the page of Japanese masochistic heroism, and the player is meant to get a tiny whiff of it. At least that's my understanding.
I bought this game in a pawn shop almost over 15 or more years ago. I kept dying when I got inside the cave area. I died numerous times and the game broke.

Meanwhile Nintendo had optimized 1st party material right from the start with Smw and Lttp. Competition is good I guess lol?
Super hydlide it's most noticeable.
Love the video, does the character get drunk?
A game with strategy elements that takes up a lot of your free time? That’s KOEI for ya.
I love sneeeeeeeeees drunk way better then angry nerd
I loved this game, graphics aren't great but the story was excellent and is a great game to play. This game is a great classic!
I used to pronounce Nobu Naga's name wrong. I would say, NoBUNaga like as one quick word.
I really hate the random battle thing, thats why I havent sat and played the final fantasy games through. the random battles just annoy the hell out of me.
Snesdrunk does super nova! It's hard as hell and I think the other name it's Darius force 3.
Loved this game…wish they would make a new one ❤️👍
I played the Romance series by Koei first so I guess I knew what I was getting.
It's a nice quirky game, an adquired taste I guess.. I really liked it
I tried to get into it, I really did.
Rented this and completed it!
No matter how much territory I gained I could never get Nobunaga to battle me so I eventually gave up. I had fun though and appreciated the amount of different equipment and there was a gambling game too, right?
Short answer: yes
Long answer: ...maybe not
Would definitely play it again over the US release of 7th saga though, that much is certain. :P
Fuck this. Gotta play 'Secret of The Stars' instead.
Been waiting for this one
i like this game but its hard to recommend to most people since its a very slow game but if your like me who likes alot of different RPG's i think its worth trying out on an emulator first since the game is not as cheap
Wow. That's the first time I've ever heard someone recommend 7th Saga over anything.
Lol I loved and finished both of these games as a kid!
How do you pick which games to try out?
I love this game.
I have finished this game. It took a while but I got a lot of music to listen to, stuff I kept on my list. Kill 2 birds with one stone.
How many times did I watch my ninja dude slide down that wall trying to break in and burn the rice. Not enough times
And i dont know anything about it or anyone who knows aboit it
Ekans cameo @3:48
Looks more like a NES game with those graphics and movements
“But yeah/ so yeah” counter.
But yeah: x 3
So yeah: x 1
Need a 2021 version!!!
I had this game, never got far into it though.
I loved this game, but never finished it. As you mentioned, it takes up a LOT of time.
well i love that game its cool
There is a game on Steam called Disgraced. It's RPGMaker stuff but I think it was trying to recreate this game.
