- This video was created as a tribute and memorial to this wonderful town. It presents a short explanation of how that movie was created, with added scenes of Lahaina and Maui.
It shows Lahaina the way it was before the fire and hopefully leads towards a rebirth of Lahaina so that it can come back looking something like it does today. It's such a problem to decide how to build it, how to pay for building it.

Aloha from Maui. We love ur movie and while it makes us cry being reminded of the beauty of our precious home, it’s also so very beautiful and brings back such wonderful memories. PLEASE UPDATE UR MAP to show that KAANAPALI and everything north is OPEN! Downtown Lahaina is the main area that’s closed. Everything north of Lahaina is OPEN and we NEED visitors to start coming back. Many mahalos and we hope you return to Maui very soon. Aloha

It's tourism that built Lahaina town, and it's tourism that's going to build it back strong.
It's tourism that saved the Hawaiian culture.
I remember when I was a second grader, when they were teaching the Hawaiian culture in our schools. But the following year, they removed the teaching of the Hawaiian culture from our curriculum. It wasn't until I was in my early 20s that tourism started to grow once again, and it was the tourists that wanted to know more about the Hawaiian culture and to experience the Aloha Spirit of its people.
It's my opinion that it was tourism that saved the Hawaiian culture and helped it to thrive once again. With tourism, the economy grew, created many new jobs, and kept many of our children from moving away.
Let's face it, Maui needs tourism to survive; otherwise, Maui will die.
I grew up on Maui in the early fifties. It was wonderful to have experienced island life back then, but times have changed. Maui is truly a tropical paradise, and it will remain to be that paradise for all who live there and visit.

Enjoyed your videos of Lahaina. I was there a couple of weeks prior to the fire. So glad I got to experience it.
It's so sad to see it now in ashes. I think of the people we met and pray they are survivors and can rebuild their businesses and homes.

Thanks for the Maui videos. I’ve been there twice and enjoyed the organic charm of Lahaina. The town will re-emerge eventually, but I’m afraid the rebirth will be dominated by corporate and big-money interests. I hope I’m wrong.

I like you video but if I was a betting man I would say a lot of people will not be able to rebuild do to money the rich will swoop in buy the land and change it for the worse I don’t live in Hawaii but I do know what money does to people they don’t care who they displace as long as they benefit from it
If I could afford it, I'd build my house under water or under ground with air purifiers installed. 🤐
