my step son was on the uss mount whitney flag ship out of Norfolk he out now but followed my well ..........learned and smart as hell , Navy did him great me and his mom even family day , got to be on the boat , kewl , broke my heart i wanna play again , i to damn old
i will say in a young man , stop and a port meet a woman , go back to the boat leave it alone .............Wisdom of a old salty dog , 63 yrs old now , please pay attention ............

I was an Aviation Boatswain Mate, Airman, on Board The Kitty Hawk from 1979 to 1981 I worked in Crash and Salvage, Elevator Op's, Flight Deck Control, Tractor King. As well, I was training PO for the division, and DCPO.

This is a mix of footage from different cruises. I was an aerial photographer on Kitty Hawk and left in 1992. This looks like some footage that we took in 91, however the shot showing the battle group was stock footage, cause we didn't take that many around the horn with us.. I remember taking several videos of the sea sparrows launching, some of the other stuff looks like mine, but it's hard to tell..

Great times and great people. She was my first and last. Won't miss diving down to the mags when I had watch. They say it was haunted due to a death by a yard worker. RIP old girl you will be missed.
I was an AK2 with VF-51(screaming Eagle) 1979-1980 westpac deployment. It was out first deployment with the F14 tomcat. We got extended and had to do another two months in the Indian Ocean. USS KITTY HAWK took me on deployment and brought me home. She was a good old carrier.
We probably crossed paths! VFA-97 Warhawks for the same two West Pacs. We started a FB page that has a ton of photos from those two cruises if you are interested. facebook.com/groups/153158628048116/
Did the same rimpac westpack V4 fueler work on the fligthdeck .my question wich plane landed with problems that we almost had to rise the net It was in the gulf

I was there too . It was Camel Station . We traveled all those miles to smoke a camel and Carter would not give us a light !

No. We didn’t get to San Diego from the around the horn cruise until December of ‘91. RIMPAC was a bit later
