Great job Adam, Feta Tip, don’t focus on the actual race and lighting. Use the time you have chasing ET to build enough boost at the launch and keep in mind the timer only starts once you break the beam/start moving. We saw dramatic improvements holding launch Control a second or two longer letting us get out of the hole faster. Congrats again bud 👍👍
Thanks for the tips! Sadly though when speaking to Unitronic they instructed me not to hold down launch control for too long or you don't launch with as much boost on their software. I tried to get better at just letting the light go green and launching when I feel like it, but I constantly fail miserably at it because I always want to beat the other car, hahaha
I have a stage 1+ and stg 1 TCU unitronic tune on my 18 s3 and I have over 24k miles daily driven and it is purring so smooth. Dude great use with the obd connect plus too. You'll be happy man I can attest.
@@mqbr22 7200 rpm cuts or valve float with APR dsg tune and tune will not let me adjust max rpm in sport mode which is what I have to use for launch control as my car is a 2013.It was awesome with stage 2 and then I went to a KO4.I have intercooler intake and down pipe with TTRS fuel pump with custom controller.If I could turn down sport mode max rpm to 7,000 rpm I think it would be fine but tune does not allow it only for manual mode can I adjust it.My friend has same car and he even upgraded valve springs and it also cuts out at max rpm in sport mode
Lee Chavarie Yea APR is kinda like Apple. It’s good quality and does what it has to in a good way but no room for any adjustments or something slightly out of their world. You are just locked in.

@@johnwest2986 just for the motor to be built at Iroz was something like $5500 USD. That doesn't include shipping, the uninstall, install, taxes and duties.

@Mike O'Horny Do the German tuners have ECU and TCU tunes for our North American vehicles? I know they have different box codes then your Euro spec models

You picked a strong 3 MPH on the top end and shaved 1 tenth on the ET but you are still holding back on the 60'. If you can get down to the desired 1.5 sec 60' I think you could touch heaven with the 9.99 pass. Your CC TCU seems like it was dialed in for a slightly better launch.
Ya, with a clean 1.50 or for sure with a 1.4 something I would hit a 9.9. The CC drag TCU file was crazy aggressive and ripped through the gears on track. The Uni TCU seems more refined and can be used for both track and street without the harshness that the CC tune showed on the street.
Record your start in slow motion and play with the air in the tires....probably there is a .10 in there, funny vid l enjoy it👍🏻, plus you need to stay a little longer on launch control to build a little more boost
I was dialing in my tire pressure the whole day. Couldn't get it to bite. Unitronic has told me not to stay on LC too long or I'll spin. They recommend that I'm on it for only a quick second before I launch.
Can you tell us the vcds mods to get it quick while launching? I know a few: - Disable starting vibration reduction - Change the byte code to disable 100% ESC when off - Put increased traction on AWD section - Change XDS+ to strong or medium Trying to get my S3 quicker at launches!!
All those VCDS mods sound correct. I am actually putting together an upcoming video for my channel that walks you through all of the VCDS mods you can make on the RS3. Keep your eyes peeled for it!

Great job buddy . Love your videos . I’m kinda new to this and was wondering how exactly your able to slow down quickly at the end of the track with the small brake setup you have . I’m basically running stock brakes on my gli which are the same as golf r brakes and I’m having serious issues slowing down from high speeds. 😂
Vancity Audi I know they have one available for gen 5 haldex and if I’m not wrong it’s the same haldex as golf r and rs3, one for golf is available so I would give them a call.

You don't need a cage until you run quicker than a 9.0 @ 150mph now in a 2014 or newer. Back when this was accomplished, you didn't need a cage until you went quicker than a 10.00 @ 135mph.
RS3 is advertised to have a 3,593lb curb weight. Is that wrong? What did your RS3 weigh stock? Hard to see 500lbs removed in drag racing trim, so I am wondering if these weight 3355lbs stock. Your RS3 looks great and sounds mean.
I 100% agree with you on this one! I think that scale at the track may be wrong. I thought my car weighed closer to 3200lbs. I never weighed the car stock though. Thanks for the compliments!
You'd actually be wrong there. I daily drove this car for nearly 2 years with no interior. More room for storage. More room for groceries. Provides me an excuse to never have to drive other people around because I only had one extra seat.

I found out 2 days after racing that the first file I used was meant for road racing and not for drag racing. 100% my mistake and my f$ck up. Once I changed both the ECU and TCU tune to the standard production file on the 5th run, the car ran MUCH better.
@@zenithskull Unitronic is huge too. Custom Code did do some custom maps but not as many as you'd think. I'm sure if I need more grunt and I'm willing to take chances Uni may give me more. It's whether or not I want to take that risk though
@@VancityAudi I'm still kicking myself for getting the APR tune for the TTRS when it came out, but I had a tune from them on another car before so I went with them. I hate not being able to flash it myself, I have to make an f'ing appointment to change a map or remove the tune to take to the dealer... Was going to go custom code but unitronic seems good as well. Is Hank still with custom code...?

Because the ECU and TCU's from each company aren't meant to be used with other tuner's software. They are meant to be paired with the same company's files
@@VancityAudi Is this an RS3 thing? Plenty of people mix tunes on other MQB cars. APR seems to make one of the best DSG tunes for the MK7 Golf platform but you wouldn't be able to use them for custom ECU (i.e. for a hybrid turbo) so people use Cobb, among others.

Seeing as I've already lost a motor once I don't want to be the guinea pig to see what happens if I do that. From my understanding the Uni and CC tunes work quite differently. Yes, but that didn't change anything in terms of better performance. I actually made slightly less horsepower with a built motor using the stock motor tune because my compression ratio was lower.

I have shown this over and over again in all my videos past this one, where I lined up a race against someone ahead of time.
Because for the price there isn't another car out there that can beat it in terms of performance. I didn't buy it for the interior and comfort. I bought it for its performance potential

I race at an NHRA certified drag strip with a very long track. I have tons of room to slow down.

I re-weighed the car at another scale to make sure that reading was accurate. My car 100% weighed 3060lbs that day I raced.

Just changing the software you solved the launch issue while shifting from 1st to 2nd? What do you think the problem was?

I just turn off AWD for the burnout and then launch in AWD. You'd blow the tires right off if you launched in FWD haha

From what I have seen they are kind of in between.
I bet if you datalog and send it back they will revise it for you. Apr is just such a big company they can’t focus on revising everyone.

@@Geodesix ya, the ability to switch tunes on the fly is friggin' amazing. Makes it SO much easier. Hank is working with Unitronic now.
What brand seat base are you using to mount the Kirkey seat?
We used the OEM slider and then Reiter Performance made custom mounts to bolt the seat to the slider.
What tire pressure you were running? The front tires looked underinflated.
They are drag radials. They are supposed to look like that, lol. 12lbs in the front and 18lbs in the rear

😂😂😂 no one gives a flying f$ck, lol. I'm not racing anyone really on these test days. If I was actually putting in effort to arrange and line up a race against someone, I would stage appropriately. I have shown this over and over again in all my videos past this one, where I lined up a race against someone ahead of time.

Because for the price there isn't another car out there that can beat it in terms of performance. I didn't buy it for the interior and comfort. I bought it for its performance potential
