As much as I disagree completely, I do understand FF14's placement. Its clear that when they were making a realm reborn they didn't know how to fit the narrative into the gameplay of FF14 or were greatly mistaken on how to do it and it lead to a lot of quests that are just, go here do this do that for this person and it even lead me to skip some cutscenes. But when i looked back at the first expansions story as a whole i learned that It was a lot more than that and that It was just presented terribly.
after reborn eveything else was a master piece ( ps: ff tactics is the best ff written story of all time ) 😝
Tactics has by far the best story of any FF, it actually feels like it was wrote by an adult and not a teenager.

At least another SCAD writing student and I applied to the Random House fall internship. There's a free response question on what podcasts and media you like, so I raged for 1000 words about how you guys spoiled Final Fantasy 16 for me.

Commendable ranking of FF14, delivery method of story, i think, should still count towards rating a story. So many people online implore people to give ff14 a chance because if you stick with it, it has the best final fantasy story or video game story of all time. But that's the problem, the game is a slog, and most people don't find all the fetch questing and grinding fun to then get to enjoy a good story.
By hyperbole analogy. If a film maker made the best story of all time and put it into a movie, but part of seeing the movie was that the Movie theatre stank of shit and you had to wear electrodes that zapped you causing intense pain regularly thoughout the film. It doesn't matter that it's the best story of all time, the delivery method of the story is appalling and therefore overall so is the story.

My personal rankings are S: 14, 12, 16 and 6. A: 8, 13. B: 15. C: 7. *I haven't played 11 or 9*

Did FF14 dirty. Heavensward is so close to a masterpiece and it only gets better from there.
Actually the more I think about FFXIV the more angry I am becoming. Imagine you've played your character for like 2000 hours and be at the end of Shadowbringers. After years of playing you get to the one cutscene and get "champions from beyond the rift" speech from Exarch. It's S tier.
XIV is the best. You are either a FINAL FANTASY fan and you know it, or you are not and you are making videos like this.
My fav overall are 6-7-10-12 but in terms of story 6- 7-10 are the best!
The commentary is long and drawn out, not unlike some of the games they rated. Rankings weren't quite in line with how I would have ranked them, but interesting video.
I liked FF15 story more than FF10. FF7 is by far the best out of all. I also really liked FF9. From the mainline FF titles that I have played and followed the story, I would say FF7>FF9>FF15>FF8>FF10.
15 story was not well done i admit but bottom tier is criminal
One thing I love about ffx is Titus tells jecht that he hates him at the end... when in reality I took it as him saying he "i love you" , but that's the only way he knew how too express feelings too his dad

7 is where it belongs but I agree with 14
from the sound of it they didn't even finish 14's main story likely didn't even finish ARR so why even rate it at that point?
15 is more understandable but people are WAY too harsh on it's story
15 was obviously a rushed unfinished mess.
@@jeremycase8519 The way I'd put it is I feel 15 had the skeleton of a good story, and it had likable characters, but the way the story was presented and fleshed out wasn't very good. A skeleton of a good story with haphazardly placed bits of flesh can only go so far.
And yeah I do think it going through development hell and them being pressured to release it was a big part of why that is.
@@jeremycase8519It was but even then it has many interesting elements. My biggest dream is to have this game revisited in the future for them to fix the spots on which the story was weak.

I hate MMORPGs with a passion, that doesn't stop XIV from being the greatest FINAL FANTASY Story of all time, maybe even videogame Story.
And you definitely are not a FINAL FANTASY fan if you cannot acknowledge that it is at least good.
XIV is more FINAL FANTASY than your favourite. And this is not debatable.

Firstly, Laguna is Squalls father, it is never explicitly stated by very strongly alluded to.
As for the placement. I'd put 7 & 9 at masterpiece level, with 7 being at the top and 9 just behind. Because 7 was such a phenonmen people like to be contrarian or think it was overrated, but of course none of this is true. It's just the best FF they ever made with the best story they ever made. I like to think 7 has the best story in terms of literally what happens. But 9 has the best storytelling/presentation of the story of the series.
10 and tactics i'd put in amazing. The rest, Their so far below the aforementioned ones i don't really care to rank them.
It's directly stated when you talk to Kiros/Ward in the Ragnarok, there's no ambiguity.
@@SuperEkkorn I haven't played the game in a long time, but if i remember rightly they say something to the effect of "he/you look like your father". I wouldn't count this as explicitly stating. Correct me if i'm wrong though. An explicit statement, strictly speaking, would be somewhere in the game "Laguna is Squalls father", "Laguna is your father" etc.
@@Windraesa Kiros says "you look like your mother" and Ward says "Thankfully you don't look like your father". Sure, it could be implicit had there been any alternative person(s) they know that could be his parents, but considering Laguna/Raine are the only ppl Kiros have met that has any connection to Squall, I'd consider it explicit, how would Kiros know anything abt Squall if not for Laguna? And how would he know what his mother looked like? Not trying to be difficult, but Squall IS Laguna's son according to the text, there's no two ways abt it. That's what I mean when I say it's explicit.
The only thing is that you'll have to actually talk to them tho, which I assume they didn't. So I get how it can be missed, bc otherwise there are only unsubtle hints 😜 (eta, talking abt the vid here, not you)

Just say you didn't play it and move along, Yeah I get its a tier list but if you haven't really played the games I don't think you should add them to your list.
Rating the one of the most popular FF (second only after 7) as lowest tier especially after the amazing storytelling of Heavenward and Shadowbringers is just...sigh.

For 16 they never established that the other dominants had to be killed to get their powers actually he gets all of their powers without anyone dying they all die afrerwards (aside from jill) but all for unrelated reasons...
Vivi's story ALONE in FF9 makes it a Masterpiece... go argue with the wall
Wow this list is not good lmao, 14 at the bottom proves y'all have no idea what you are talking about, 9 being above 12 is a joke, 7 is not a masterpiece story y'all are just blinded by nostalgia. It is a great story tho, just not masterpiece worthy. Only placements I agree with are tactics and 10. Also holy shit could y'all talk any slower jesus christ, had to watch this on 2x speed just to get through it
