A new Islay DISTILLERY coming on to the scene is Laggan Bay from Ian Macleod (Glengoyne/Rosebank/Smokehead/Tamdhu) so I wonder if Laggan Mill name will have to change....it's different but you know.......if someone wanted to build a distillery or name a whisky Lardleg there might be an existential crisis and some hellfire from somewhere.
That's a really interesting point Watchman! I had taken stock of the announcement that Laggan Bay was a go, but this never connected. We could very well be at the end of Laggan Mill releases. And honestly, with Diageo allegedly cutting off most supplies of Caol Ila to Indies I don't know how many casks of Lagavulin will make their way to market in the future. Cheers buddy 🥃

@@whiskyonthewestcoast Oops, it was Hector not Hamish 😁 In 2020 when there were extra tariffs on single malt in the US K&L Wine in California brought in a bunch of Tea-spooned malts to avoid the extra taxes. Below Bhaninidn (Mortlach) Cromarty's Firth (Dalmore) Behind the Highlander (Craigellachie)
I haven't seen the Whisky Sponge "Red Bag" but I did pick up a 14yo Whisky Sponge "Kildalton" not too long ago as the price wasn't...too terrible XD That NAS 30yo from Angus has really turned me onto Whisky Sponge and even if the price seems a little madder than other independent bottlers, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that the quality of his picks will make up for it. For now, at least =)
I'm sure the Kildalton is a great bottle of barley juice. I've been tempted by that Whisky Sponge Bowmore you picked up as well. I know I've got to hold my water at some point and stop leaking dollars but I would be lying if I didn't try for the Whisky Sponge Candle Kitty earlier this week. From the 2 tastings I've participated in from decadent drinks/whisky sponge I'm willing to trust a bit more than others as well. Kudos to 🥃 🧽 Cheers buddy 🥃

Just heard of the second version of Ardbeg Smoketrails Travell Exckusive finished in Cote Rotie wine casks. Has not shown up at LHR yet.
