    We just had a power outage and I was forced to burn no less that $300 in Jo Malone & Diptyque just to see where I was going. The house has never smelled better.

    I have tried I think every candle out there but am obsessed with Glasshouse Candles. They're an Aussie brand but are triple scented & literally fill your home with the scent within perhaps 10minutes!! Love them 💗

    I cannot be the only person who hates Yankee Candles? Idk I just don't find them great, for me they burn really unevenly and I get to the bottom of the candle and there's still tons of wax up the sides.

      Primark candles are a shout thought, the white tea and peony is my favourite smell! They burn really easily and have such a strong scent payoff

      I got the electric Yankee candle melter off Amazon and it evenly melts the new tart line and when you use it up you can buy the cheap original tarts and put them into the container that came with the new ones. So its cheap and you can safely melt the wax with no tunnelling or fire issues. But best of all the smell is so superior!!!

      I had the same problem with Yankee Candles, and after a few google searches I found that the manufacturer recommends burning the candles min. 2 hrs at a time.
      First I trimmed the wick to the length of 0.5 cm and burnt it for a few hours and now it's perfectly even. Also do not blow on it when putting it out, just put the lid on it.

    I have a ton of bath and body work candles. I stopped using them for a few months only because I tired Nest, Voluspa and Diptyque. When I started using BBW again, it felt ever harsh to me, like a lot of chemicals.

    Hi Sophie, The reason why your Yankee candles are burning unevenly is because you have to burn the candles for a min of 3 hours.I buy my Yankee candles from QVC and they are so much cheaper on there. You can get three for about £40.00.Also you can buy some thing ( sorry I forgot the name) from Yankee candles ( on QVC) that will make the candle burn evenly.

      This was great, I've been looking for "how do you make candles with soy wax?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Panlijah Inconceivable Position - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a great exclusive guide for discovering how to become a candle making master and turn a profit minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my brother in law got great results with it.

    Hi Sophie! use a lumilid for your yankee candles (that metal ring that goes around the top) , there about £6 in the shop and they make such a difference to the burning time and it makes them burn evenly! no digging with a spoon haha xx

    Yankee candles burn evenly but you have to burn them first time so long that melty wax covers the candle top all the way. Sometimes i have burnt them even 5-6 hours straight. But yep, I agree, they are quite expencive. I love their tumblers with two wicks more :)

    Yankee Candle also has jars that are straight edge and not bulky at all (you can also get fancy candle toppers for them). They are similar to Diptyque and Jo Malone jars, but larger and when burned out they make great makeup brush holders.

    If you can’t get a YC to burn correctly you need to use a lid and wick trimmer every time . I rarely ever get a tunneling candle following that rule .

  • @lillysol680
    @lillysol680 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    loved this!
    ps to help candles burn more evenly, the first time you burn a candle 1) trim the wick to about half a cm 2) the first time you burn a candle, allow it to burn all the way across, it stops the ring forming and helps the entire jar burn evenly.

    I completely agree with you about BBW candles. They are the best and you can get them for a great deal when they are on sale and you have a coupon code (which they have all the time). I got my 27 year old daughter a huge box of about 24 of them in different scents as one of her Christmas gifts this year. She said it was one of the best things she got. I love, love, love the Autumn and Winter scents. The Balsam smells just like a Christmas tree. I wish they weren't so expensive for you to ship. Thanks for your great reviews

  • @JustBetherss
    @JustBetherss 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can now get Tumbler and pillar candles from Yankee candle which are much more aesthetically pleasing, however I do wish they did a range of candles in plain white/ cream. I often don't buy certain fragrances because their colour doesn't match my room. Alternatively I'd recommend their wax melts, they give off an even better fragrance and you can pop the tarts on a pretty wax/ oil burner! Mine is stain glass so puts pretty patterns on my bedroom walls :)
    Deffo going to make a bath and body works order! I love love love candles! Also try TKMAXX for candles, you can find SO many there! The only thing is sometimes you find on that smells incredible and then realise it's almost impossible to buy from the company it's made by in the U.K:(
    Ooooo and if you like sweeter fragrances then M&S do a Rhubarb fragrance candle which is to die for. Every time I'm burning it people ask me what it is. And you can smell it even when it's not lit. I always buy them to gift to friends and they can never believe that it's only from M&S because the quality is so good :)
    Love your videos! Love that you love candles as much as I do too :))

    I adore candles and have been using them for some years, but sadly have had to cut down on them due to the fact that they're making my white walls go sooty. This is not obviously noticeable until you have to wipe the wall, but I noticed that my white UPVC window frames and the glass are the same. I was cleaning my windows once and thought to myself "why are my windows dirtier inside than out!!" and it turned out to be the candles. I know some candles give off more soot/toxins (or whatever they're called) than others, but there are so many out there and I just love all of them. I buy a lot of my candles from TK Maxx and just pick random ones that take my fancy. I believe soy candles are supposed to be good for cutting the soot down. Any tips on how I can combat this, so I can continue to use them as often as I would really like? :)

    totally agree with the uneveness of the Yankee Candle!! I was thinking to be the only one to have this problem with them!! Mine are all small so I believed it was the small jar but after see that also your big one to the same thing!! lol I can't believe I did desire them for so long...anyway for me the only way to have them burn almost equally is take a nail file or the white head soop and while the candle it's burning i'm pushing the solid wax inside in order to be near the flame as much as possible so in this way it goes well

  • @Hellocindy2
    @Hellocindy2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Use aluminum foil to prevent candle from burning uneveningly, by wrapping the foil around the opening of the candle and curve the foil over the top edge. This will redirect some of the heat back inside the jar and melt the wax on the sides.
    Do this before the tunneling gets too deep other wise once those waxes gets melted it may flood over the candle wick.

    Hi Sophie, I'm also a candle obsessive 😍 have you tried candle belle? They are based in the U.K., good value for money and do a great range of scents. In my experience the scent pay off is great, although the packaging isn't necessarily on par with Diptyque etc. They also do wax tart melts which I use in a burner, which looks a bit more chic and you can get pretty cheap burners from Yankee candle. Anyway, I recommend candle belle as a uk based, slightly cheaper options (although my faves are bath and bodyworks and diptyque). Thanks for the vid, lots of love! ❤️

    Hi Sophie, sorry about your bunny. 😢 I'm funny about fragrance in general and Yankee makes me ill. I love my Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir candle. The fragrances (perfume) are nice but I find they don't last and never pulled the trigger as I feel they are not worth the money. I just purchased my first Diptyque candle this weekend. Was a toss up between Baies and Tuberose, but went for Amber, as it seemed cosy for the rest of winter. I hope it's good!!! I feel, for me, a higher quality fragrance is the way to go. Big difference!!!

    I'm mad for candles...I can't stand anything that smells like sweet food though. Gives me a headache. I find the Dyptique are disappointing unless you burn them in a tiny room or have a few going at the same time. My house is open plan and I can't smell them at all. If you want a lux range with a large smell payoff my favourite brand is CIRE TRUDON. Also in New Zealand we have a brand called ECOYA which seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Look them up... the French Pear and Sweet Pea are strong and good middle of the range for value.

    The Jo Malone candles are amazing! I've just purchased one of the Oud-based ones and it's smells absolutely beautiful. Just unfortunate that it's so expensive!

    I love candle reviews! I have a noticeable allergy to all candles made with paraffin wax, so those are always out for me. But good alternative wax release scent better, may explain why the bath and body works candles have hit or miss with their scent throw. Really appreciate seeing your lovely candle collection :)

    Hello from Chicago, IL. I didn't see DW home candles mentioned, it's my favorite! The jars are beautiful, have a good burn and they smell amazing.

    You’d probably like the Margot Elena Rose candle bc it’s also fresh and not overly heavy rose.

    I totally appreciate your honesty on the shipping company. Didn't have a pleasant experience either!
    In my opinion the co hasn't lived upto the hype.
    I'll have a look at the company you suggested.

    When I saw the title of this upload, I laughed because I remember David complaining in another video about the number of candles you have stockpiled in the house. Men don't understand!!!
