Great story! I would love to know more about the Kings of Ireland and Bran, if there are other stories. I'm behind on Irish stories and couldn't be found doing story-telling of the folklore though I wish I could.
This is what I love about Irish mythology. I've always wanted to a write a story inspired by Bran's voyage. Pity ASOIAF kinda ruined the name for a while. Gotta wait it out 🍀
Yup! But Manannán Mac Lir isn't one of the four children of Lir from the story The Children of Lir. In Manannán’s case it seems the name is more figurative/metaphorical, as he is a sea-god and Mac Lir means "son of the sea"
Nice to see that even though American cultural overreach is as bad as ever. Your reach on YT seems to have shortened. A big authority on Irish culture but you dont know the story of the children of lir properly. Theres a statue of the children of lir in our garden of remembrance in the middle of Dublin city commemorating everyone who died in our struggle for freedom. Ontop of it being a story tols to children here. That means youd have to be seriously disconnected from our culture not to know the story back to front.
Hey there. I think you might be a bit confused. This video is about The Voyage of Bran (please refer to the title of the video you just commented on), not The Children of Lir. Manannán Mac Lir (Mac Lir meaning “son of the sea”) is a character in The Voyage of Bran, but he is not one of the four children of Lir featured in the story The Children of Lir. Hope this helps clarify things. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.
@ you definitely have no contact with Irish culture. That type of crawling is just viewed as sly dishonesty here. You mentioned someone who cursed lirs kids. Did AI write your script?

And who has a better story...
12:12 Wait weren't the children of Lir turned into swans by Aoife?
