Here's a suggestion, dear. When his birthday rolls around, buy him something YOU love, that he would have no interest in. No, sorry, don't do that. (But it IS fun to think about.) Yes, do get some marriage counselling. This guy needs to learn that he's not the center of the world.
First lady: You are throwing away a marriage with kids for a birthday party. Did you ever think that maybe you chose the wrong person to throw your birthday party? It sounds like your husband was never that type of person but you expected different out of him. You expected YOU out of him. Then you came to the internet to get validation; not objective advice. You didn't complain about more than that. So without more information, it is my opinion that you blew it out of proportion. Was he less thoughtful than you would like? Yes. But I'm sure he never showed the level of thoughtfulness you expected. Guy #2: She is only your gf at this point? She used you and this should be your early sign to cut ties. No matter how supportive you were trying to be, she always intended to use you to get a leg up. Telling the truth when a lie is publicly stated is not a problem. Maybe the delivery may have been not to her liking but you didn't disrespect her. Tell her to tell the truth and shame the devil. Cut your losses.
This isn't about cake. Not at all. So many problems with this. Didn't know how to contact friends and family? You told her about the party early. You could have asked how to contact them!
