I was in the audience at Northampton Derngate around 2012. Derren was doing a part of the show where he asked everyone to stand up and then played a very intense sound that was meant to put you in a trance. Derren instructed us to remain standing unless you felt conscious and not in a trance like state. It didn’t work for me so i sat down. The guy next to me, however, was clearly feeling it and remained standing with his eyes closed.... ......he also was rocking a massive boner whilst being unaware. Awkward, particularly when sat down next to it at eye level!
I went to see Les Mis at the Palace Theatre so many times in the early 90s and he is SO right. We were students at the time and could only afford standby tickets which were invariably up in The Gods. How the hell people didn’t fall down from there night after night is a miracle. There’s absolutely no way I’d have the balls to sit up there these days. I’d be cacking myself the whole time 😱
I remember thinking the same when I went to the Palace Theatre, how scarily steep the upper balconies were where I was sat, how easy it would be to fall from there, and wondering if many theatres are like that
They are. Went to see the showman in Edinburgh and was in the top balcony and thought the same easy to fall. Even though it had a railing but only a quarter high so really wouldn’t protect you
I remember the guy falling being in the papers. It was the show after the one hubby and I went to see and I said to hubby “god it’s steep up here id be worried id fall over that railing” then it was in the paper the next day. *shivers*
"Come and see Derren Brown with us", they said. "He makes me sick", the reply, then, after much cajoling" "oh alright, if i must, but on your heads be it". Later, "i told you so."
Why the HELL didn't they call for a doctor for both the poor guy who couldn't stop vomiting and the poor person who fell from the "god's"?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know the details but I'd guess the staff would have called an ambulance for the guy who fell. The projectile vomiter, though - was Derren joking or did he really just send someone in that condition back to his seat? Surely you'd at least offer the patient somewhere quiet to sit away from other people, with a glass of water, a container to puke into and something with which to wipe himself, and check if the theatre had a designated first-aider to take care of him?
WHY THE HELL DID YOU NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP THE SHOW AND MAKE CERTAIN THE MAN RECEIVED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!! AFTER ALL, BEING THAT IT WAS YOU THAT PUT HIM IN THAT STATE, IT WAS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT HE WAS ALRIGHT!!!!!!!! I MUST SAY THAT DUE TO THE LACK OF COMPASSION YOU SHOWED THE POOR BLOKE, THE FACT THAT HE VOMITED ALL OVER YOU IS LESS THAN YOU DESERVE!!!!!!!

One can only hope that the show with the audience member throwing up before, during, and after being onstage happened pre-Covid.
brown didn't age
His hair is gone
I’d like to see db live, I’m worried I’d be compelled to go on stage and make some kind of fool of myself though 🤔 TT TT
So, the guy that vomited - that seems like a failure in the duty of care for your audience.
Is that it? 😔 disappointing upload
why this shit recommended?

Jeez, shut up.
Turn caps off and maybe people will take you seriously.
The vomiting may have been from an unrelated cause, but in any case, Derren should have taken reasonable care to made sure he was OK.
