Love hearing the cows eating grass. It’s so relaxing. This morning I moved my sheep and calf in a new area. They were so excited. They look forward to the fresh grass. They almost knock ya over. It wasn’t long until I heard them crunching grass like your animals.
I'm a new grazing farmer I just have 2 Calfs boy do they know fresh forage amazing. I'm moving them daily. I feel so bad for all the cattle get the whole farm what a shame. I see some real abuse out there.
Thanks Greg. Hearing about your soil improvement gives me hope. Many of my fields have inch or less of top soil. I think one of the ridgeland crop fields I've got my eye on might not have any. The damage that's been done just knots my stomach when I get thinking about it. I hope I can add five inches to the soil profile too. What a legacy.
The land wants grazing animals! It's amazing to see how the land responds to grazing animals when care is taken. The land absolutely comes to life when it's properly grazed. My old beat to heck farm (from previous operators) has just exploded with new life and vigor from rotational grazing. I see new plants, animals and creepy crawlies everywhere I look, it's a real fun experience to spend time there with the animals and the land. I could spend all day there every day and never get tired of it. It's also so much fun to have animals that love having me there, between the sheep, the dogs and cattle that are gentle enough to pet...I'm not sure it could get any better.
I've got a neighbor over the hill who I have not met I think they got 4-5 yearlings on about 20 acres no rotation it's an absolute disaster sad. I see the potential for it could be beautiful.

It's a combination of a flock of sheep and a herd of cattle. Flock + Herd = Flerd
