I think a big part of the 2nd half is going to be Colin accepting Penelope's faults. Yes, he's finally appreciating her but, he's doing what she did to him before this season. Putting her on a pedestal. His finding out she's Lady Whistledown is going to be a test for them. They'll finally see each other completely.
Love your perspective! I hope this is how it goes. That he has the emotional maturity to process all she has to say and accept any accountability she takes for the harm she has caused. I appreciate your highlighting each of them putting one another on a pedestal and learning that the other is imperfect but that they are perfect for each other. ✨
I love the points you are making! The thing is with Eloise is like 1. Everything isn’t black and white and 2. Everything isn’t about you. Like yes she can still be hurt by the LW thing but until she actually has a convo with pen she’ll never know the whole story and that even with being misguided it came from a good place. I also don’t think a lot of people realize that Eloise hadn’t been a good friend to Pen or really seen or understood her for a long time. So they both have their faults. Like telling Pen that she should tell Colin before the wedding is completely fine and no one knows that more than Pen but making it seem like it’s about Colin when honestly Eloise is still hurt by the reveal and seems to be upset that Pen is thriving and moving forward with the secret/without her. I think they will probably have to start over when they reconcile so they can have a proper relationship. Nicola & Luke are really doing their big one this season. Like the acting is phenomenal not just in the line delivery but even in their facial expressions and eyes. They are so special and are really giving us everything with their portrayals. I think the peek of their argument is going to make their relationship stronger and bring their insecurities to the forefront so they can address them together. Like Colin doesn’t have to be useful to be loved Pen loves him for who he is not what he does. & Pen can see that now she DOES have someone she can trust and will have her back like she can be independent while also knowing she has someone who wants to be there and collaborate. While I don’t quite agree with the line Eloise dropped I do get what she means though. Like he already knows Pen deeply but in order to accept her fully he does have to know & honestly from the little peak it seems like he is more worried about her being in danger than the LW of things. I think he’ll be upset of course it was kept from him but that won’t weaken or lessen his love. I hope Pen finds a mother figure in Violet because Portia will never be the mom Pen deserves. I also think Portia cant give Pen advice because she’s never experienced a love match and seems to not even believe in them for real. The relationship Pen has with Colin is not gonna be one where her dreams die in lieu of his and her mom cannot grasp that. I also would love to see Pen heal those emotional wounds from her mother as that’s why Pen can’t even see herself as everything she is 🥹💗

I know that trust and transparency are the keys to a successful relationship and it is necessary that Pen tells Colin about LW before they are married. Omg im so freaking excited for part 2. A lot of people hate on Eloise (I get it, she can be REALLY annoying) but she’s right about one thing, Pen needs to tell Colin about her being LW. I don’t necessarily disagree with Eloise telling Colin for her, because thats her brother. I would have done the same for my brother
I would definitely do the same for mine. However, I would be a bit more gentle with my best friend that I have known since childhood. Eloise has turned into an unrecognizable character. What will her stance be when Colin is accepting of Pen being LW? Will all be forgiven on her end? I think it’s deeper than LW. Pen has actually found her independence through writing and I think that bothers Eloise. 🤷🏾♀️ I hope they figure it out though. 😫

The ribbons in her hair, her spending time with other ladies of the ton that she has nothing in common with. It is all so obviously performative. She’s wearing a disguise. Violet Bridgerton becoming her mother in law is such a treat. A great balance to Portia.
I am such a Disney kid and he just gave so much Prince Energy this season from the way he dressed, walked and went into hero mode. Prince Eric swinging from the rafters of a ship in a storm. 🤭

I am not nervous about the scenes. I can’t wait for it. I think during interviews many people have said they are the sexiest scenes of the series. 🥵 Penelope is WINNING!!! 🤭✨🥰 Portia will have to take a few steps back, I hope that Pen respectfully put Portia in her place. Or perhaps Colin will. I will begin reading Romancing Mr. Bridgerton starting in July and I look forward to extending the story. 🫶🏽
Personally I think the trailer seems a bit misleading. Several pieces of audio sound like they've been spliced together. They did that for the first trailer, too. I think that the conflict between Eloise and Pen won't be as drawn out as the trailer suggests. I don't think Pen actually says "Colin can't discover my secret, Whistledown is power." That part seems spliced together. I think the Whistledown is power bit is said to Eloise and I think Pen might be holding her hands as she says it. It looks like they've already reconciled at that point

I love Polin, bt is no one going to talk about the fact that it looks like Colin didn’t talk to Portia for Pen’s hand in marriage? Of course Portia would be shocked or in disbelief if she finds out from LW gossip column about her daughter’s engagement.. Lord Debling asked Portia’s permission before he was to ask Pen to marry him.
Maybe Colin was just trying to be the modern gentleman and surprise everyone with a grand gesture! Who needs traditional manners, right? No, I do agree. I think he should have asked her mother first, but emotions were high and I think he was just so excited. I wonder if Portia will call this out or not care.
What are your thoughts on Pen and Colin moving too fast? I personally don't feel that way. There have been two seasons with them already on camera, albeit not the focus, but still showing their friendship and care for one another. As a personal story of friends to lovers, 21 years of marriage and two now young adults behind it, I can definitely say that when the feelings of more than friendship come to the surface and it's acted on.....things tend to happen "swiftly"....😂😂😂 The passion is electric because you already know the person and there is an urgency to experience "more" of that person....so all I have to say is I am not here to see Colin be a gentleman.....😂😂😂

Great analysis and reaction! Thank you for breaking it down so thoroughly. I am sure Eloise will not do anything overly mean or uncool. I think she has a lot of sympathy for Penn's situation (and probably some unsaid admiration for her as well). I believe she is an ally for Penn, even if she is reserved in how she expresses it. That said, she wants what is best for Colin and, ultimately, for Penelope as well. The truth does need to come out in a way which is confidential and one-on-one between Colin and Penn. He should be given the truth and the space to process it. I don't think it will be a deal-breaker for him but he has to come to a more full-knowledge of his intended, dear Penelope, in the right way. He will honor her but best way to do that is if she honors him as well, by telling the truth and getting all the secrets out there. Then they can move forward as equals.
DEVOURED!!! I get Eloise wanting to protect her brother. But that’s not all it is. She had an attitude before. Pen forgave her for outing Colin helping her find a husband but she can’t seem to let go Pen outing her and Theo even though she knows it was to protect her from the Queen. There is definitely some jealousy there bc pen has power as whistledown. And bitterness bc she didn’t know. As Eloise had said, she expect everyone to see things as she does and can’t get why they don’t. She isn’t very tolerant. She doesn’t appreciate the privilege she has that Pen and Cressida don’t. I think they have both made big mistakes but Eloise took Pen for granted. She didn’t really see or know her bc she was always so caught up in herself. That’s her best friends but she didn’t see that Pen had feelings for Colin or realize she was a romantic to wanted to be married and not end up a spinster? Also Eloise making snide comments during polins engagement toast is just petty. Either tell him or shut up and get over it bc right now in her effort to spite Pen she is also ruining a special once in a lifetime moment for her brother. I love violets reaction to the engagement and how excited she is . Im sure she hoped he would declare himself, that’s why she pushed him but she didn’t expect he’d move so quickly to propose. Idk that the queen is happy in the clip. I think she’s meant to be but she’s mostly annoyed that whistledown has usurped her. She expected Francesca and her friend to be the match of the season but now Penelope and Colin have stolen the limelight and Francesca has chosen John instead. I’m very curious about lady Danbury storyline. She said it’s best to leave the past in the past so I’m curious what is haunting her, especially where her brother is concerned. I wonder if he had an affair or a secret child bc she really isn’t a fan of his or his raking about.
Eloise and Penelope definitely need some sisterly therapy sessions! Maybe a Bridgerton version of Dr. Phil? I can understand that Eloise has very big issues taking accountability for things (except when her older siblings call her out on her wrongdoings). I want to see her come off of her high horse and learn that holding grudges is not worth it. It's amazing how people forget a lifetime of memories and joy overall one fallout with a dear friend. Cheers to the rest of the season and seeing these two work it out. Pen is marrying Colin, so Eloise has no choice but to accept that. Lol!
About Colin being more attracted to her as Lady Whistledown - I just spotted this in season one. Their first interaction that we see on the show is when he is one of many suitors to visit Marina. They are all filing out and Colin goes straight to Pen and makes fun of one of the guys who had been reciting poetry. She says “Lord Byron he is NOT.” And he looks at her all twinkly. But then later at a ball, they both stand on the side of the dance floor and gossip about the late lord’s widow whose red headed baby looks like her red headed footman. Colin is thrilled when she makes this speculation and says, “Penelope! What a barb!” And gazes at her in awe for too long until she gets uncomfortable and turns away. So yeah, he definitely has been enjoying her Whistledown side for a while.
What a great highlight! I couldn’t agree more. Colin has always loved Penelope. I will be doing a video on Pen VERY soon. It will talk about her style transformation but I also will touch on her how Whistledown is so much of who she is as a confident person. When she is in her element, LW can come out at any moment and we’ve seen it happen time and time again. LW is the epitome of wit, confidence and the ability to expose scandal and would write whatever is necessary to seek Justice or for her personal amusement (like the late widow and the footman 🤭). Colin brings out her sense of humor in the most authentic of ways. I do believe we will see Pen become more of her LW persona as she becomes a Bridgerton and is freed from her Featherington cage. ✨🥰🫶🏽

The last still makes me think this is after he already knows she is LW and they have had some distance between them while he processes. And this still is when he has decided to come back to her and is ready to make amends. She looks so sad…like he hasn’t been showing her affection for a little while as he processes. I feel like it’s the beginning of a reuniting

I think Pen lied to her bestie for a long time, then threw her under the bus. Pen could have told the Queen that she was LW, but she chose to publicly humiliate Eloise. And still Eloise has kept her secret. So to say that Eloise is a wicked witch is just being insensitive. You don't get to betray me, then tell me how hurt to get. And besides that, it's her brother and she should be honest with him.
While I understand your perspective, I have to say that two wrongs don't make a right. Also, do you think Queen Lottie would have believed Pen if she told her? Being angry and avoiding Pen is one thing, but spreading hurtful information and threatening her is another. They are both wrong. I know I didn't do a reaction for season 2 of Bridgerton, so it isn't on record, but I do not agree with what Pen did. Friends should not treat each other this way, but forgiveness is also necessary to move forward.

In defence of LW (in case of a polin argument)/Unpopular opinion: * marina: yes LW publicly humili*ted a couple and broke up their engagement. And so did colin at the dance. Only difference was pen did it to protect colin from someone out to mess up his life. And colin messed up possibly pen's last chance at a man. A man who was nothing but nice to her and had more wealth than he has. And he did it out of self*sh reasons not even knowing if pen liked him back. For all he knew he just publicly wr*cked her life, got her in trouble with her mom and made her cry in a carriage for nothing. Which one is worse? * the Eloise thing: besides the obvious, she was protecting her, thing. All she wr^cked was her relationship with a boy she shouldn't have been leading on in the first place. If that relationship had no future its only cru*l to make the boy think so. LW did him a favour. Besides that, leading people on is kinda a family trade. Lets be honest colin seeking out pen at social gatherings, writing to her, dragging her into an empty room holding her hand etc. Even his friends thought he was courting her, cause his behaviour towards her was very inappr*priate and leading her on if he wasn't courting her. Its not just leading her on but it gives a signal to other potential suitors there. Pen had a silent crush on him for years,yes. But it was colin whose behaviour wasn't appropriate for the ton. Even her maids were giving colin the side eye. Even they trusted him as far as they could throw him with their lady. 😏🙄😂
You’re so right! Colin has been selfish and self centered all series. As I begin reading the book, I guess I can expect more of that from him. Penelope has always tried to protect her friends. No matter how extra people think she is, she’s a real one! 🥰
Firstly, AWESOME commentary! • If the first four episodes of this season felt like a romance, I’m wondering if the final four are going to feel more like a thriller? • Will Penelope be discovered/outed as Lady Whistledown (L.W.)? Will Colin reconcile himself to the fact? Will their relationship survive this discovery? • Is Charlotte really out merely to humiliate & punish her? Will anybody swoop in & save the day… & who will that be?? Lady Danbury? There is an interesting 🤔 interaction in the Part 2 Trailer… where Penelope says she can take of her herself… & Colin exclaims “than what use am I??” Colin seems to be a product of this Regency time-period, where men/husbands are intended to PROTECT & rescue their women & children… from everything, & all times. Whereas Penelope has evolved to become a self-sufficient woman…Due to her father’s continual failure to provide & rescue her… and ironically, from her MOTHER Portia’s examples of persistent, relentless refusals to cave in & declare herself helpless… & instead manipulating/manifesting developments around her for material advantage/security. Penelope has learnt from hard experience not to rely on ANYONE else… & this habit would indeed be really hard to let go of. Could Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury… Colin…even Eloise!… could they & others be able to step out of their time period, & admire Penelope’s efforts to become a self-sufficient woman? Kate Sharma would surely understand how this would feel, as well!

I’m hoping… that ultimately… what saves Penelope from discovery & punishment… is her very own pen 🖊️. Penelope needs to read the ENTIRE Ton in one edition… for their combined cruelty & hypocrisy… exposing them for their cruel delighting in the disasters of others… combined with the ingrained indignation & fears of being exposed for THE EXACT SAME weaknesses & faults. And “noble, wellbred” society’s standing on the necks of all women, forbidding them to even attempt to become self-made & self-sufficient. I think that Eloise secretly wishes that she could Lady Whistledown the entire Ton in this manner herself… but does not have the skills, drive or gumption to do so. I think secretly this frustrates her. Eloise also doesn’t have the desperate circumstances to do so, unlike Penelope. Eloise’s life under the Bridgerton roof is too comfortable & privileged. Whereas the Featherington household is like a constantly sinking ship.
Such a great perspective! I also think the differences in Mothers plays a big part in the way Eloise and Pen navigate the ton. The encouragement Eloise gets from Violet versus the verbal persecution Pen gets from Portia. Pen in a prison of cruelty and suffocation while Eloise simply does not want to bear children and marry a man. The discomfort is very different but Eloise does not seem to see it. I am hoping that she eventually will and ease up on Pen a bit. 🙏🏽

We got a lot of wild cards where lady W’s influence may help undo some bad things. Lady Tilly’s discussion with her lawyer didn’t sound legal or nice. Penelope may need to save her families fortune, and it would be nice if she could repay Eloise for doing her wrong at the end of last season.
I also have VERY mixed emotions about Portia. I think she wants her daughters to have the financial security that she did not get in her marriage. That she knows only one way to get a husband and anything else could result in all the problems she faced with her husband. I do think she says some hurtful things but I do think she loves her daughter.
I guess people do the best with what they have and know. Understandably, Ottis doesn’t want her daughters to go through what she has. I see it in the husbands she chose for the two sisters. They adore those girls. I’m sure that was intentional. 🥰
Yes I still think portia is a narc, but there is also a personality type that doesn't have feelings high in the function stack (trust me I know these people, they mean well but are difficult). She can also be trying to prevent what happened to her to happen to her girls. She domin*tes the men as well to keep them in check. She just wanted 2 devoted softy men for her daughters with the girls or her in charge. To protect her girls. But in her eyes pen is too soft. So staying with mom so no guy can take advant*ge of her would be the safest place for daughter number 3. Debling would be gone,so basically the stability without the opportunity of him letting her daughter down. But pen can take care of herself. I still think portia is a narc but in her tw^sted way she can be trying to protect and strengthen her daughters. So if all 3 girls end up in stable marriages with devoted husbands and their own kids. Portia's job will be done especially if one of them has a boy. If she is not simply a narc that is.

She is dev*lued so many times she doesn't trust in herself. And she doesn't dare speak out. And when the ton treats her disresp*ctful she accepts it cause so does mom. So she created LW. And there are elements of portia in LW, pen is definitely portia's daughter. But pen feels more then portia does. But I think for butterfly pen to emerge she has to find an appropriate way to incorporate her own inner portia into her life. At some point she should push back against portia. Or pull a portia when the men of the ton disresp*ct her.

I have a theory about whats about to go down, based on pure intuition nothing more but bare with me here. Before I add my 2 cents, just some thoughts about the trailer. * portia is such a narc. First trying to convince her daughter no one would want her, then saying its great to never marry so she won't try to find someone. Its purely to keep pen down cause she gets off on that. Then she was ok with debling cause it was a way for HER to get pow*r by using her daughter. Then when she choose love she pretends to be on her side (cause it gives her attention and status by using her daughter) but she is manip*lating pen into not wanting to marry colin cause it would mean giving up on her own life. Narc. Please pen be done with portia. Having said that I think this season will boil down to colin/psyche trying to protect pen/eros from the queen. Thats the biggest thr*at. I don't think colin will get angry about the LW thing cause if he does pen needs to point out he is being a huge hyp^crite. Colin basically pulled a marina when he purposefully broke up pen's engagement and not to protect him like LW did, no colin was being self*sh. She did it to protect him, he did the same thing cause he was jeal^us. I think they are more then even. But I also don't think he will be angry, the "then what good am I to you" line followed by a passionate kiss kinda tells me that hearing there is a bounty on his girls head will only activate hero colin. He will want to protect her, but you can't face a queen so considering colin likes to travel I think he will wanna run with his girl instead. But considering they are in season 4, I don't think they will run. So they get outed before that can happen instead. I think the moment with pen in the green dress with a removed colin isn't colin being emotionally removed from pen. I think pen took centre stage. I think the queen pointing is her exposing LW to the public. The column behind the queen is the same as pen in in the green dress, its the same room, the same event. I think pen's last LW edition will be a life showing. She will probably wax poetically about love for all to hear. Which will touch the queen. Cause both women faithfully love their men, will do anything to protect their men, both women found their voice by speaking up for their men. Both women love love and wanna match people cause love was so rare in their own lives. She will do an oath to love and then LW will bow out for good, on her terms. Cause pen will realise the strength of LW is part of her so she doesn't need to hide anymore. She can be sweet pen, but let LW loose when for example portia is being a B. They’re being too slow with the Marcus Anderson story. They give us so much blatant nothing that we are all just waiting until they get back to us in a future episode on what they want us to feel. It’s just wasting screen time right now.
I do believe there were too many storylines this season. Perhaps if they done a Violet Bridgerton series in past and present tense like they did Queen Charlotte it would have left more time to develop Marcus and give us all the DESIRED love story of Edmond and Violet. From Benedict and Lady Tilly to the Mondrich’s, the first four episode’s definitely felt “packed”.
10:09 it’s interesting that Colin’s outfit has drastically changed from carefree-cavalier adventure world traveller 🧳… to comfortable satisfied stay-at-home HUSBAND. He got his wife; now it seems he’s keen to be settling into that comfortable “husband” cliche. He is embracing that Regency destiny that his society has intended for him. 🤨

I love the points you are making! The thing is with Eloise is like 1. Everything isn’t black and white and 2. Everything isn’t about you. Like yes she can still be hurt by the LW thing but until she actually has a convo with pen she’ll never know the whole story and that even with being misguided it came from a good place. I also don’t think a lot of people realize that Eloise hadn’t been a good friend to Pen or really seen or understood her for a long time. So they both have their faults.
Like telling Pen that she should tell Colin before the wedding is completely fine and no one knows that more than Pen but making it seem like it’s about Colin when honestly Eloise is still hurt by the reveal and seems to be upset that Pen is thriving and moving forward with the secret/without her. I think they will probably have to start over when they reconcile so they can have a proper relationship.
Nicola & Luke are really doing their big one this season. Like the acting is phenomenal not just in the line delivery but even in their facial expressions and eyes. They are so special and are really giving us everything with their portrayals.
I think the peek of their argument is going to make their relationship stronger and bring their insecurities to the forefront so they can address them together. Like Colin doesn’t have to be useful to be loved Pen loves him for who he is not what he does. & Pen can see that now she DOES have someone she can trust and will have her back like she can be independent while also knowing she has someone who wants to be there and collaborate.
While I don’t quite agree with the line Eloise dropped I do get what she means though. Like he already knows Pen deeply but in order to accept her fully he does have to know & honestly from the little peak it seems like he is more worried about her being in danger than the LW of things. I think he’ll be upset of course it was kept from him but that won’t weaken or lessen his love.
I hope Pen finds a mother figure in Violet because Portia will never be the mom Pen deserves. I also think Portia cant give Pen advice because she’s never experienced a love match and seems to not even believe in them for real. The relationship Pen has with Colin is not gonna be one where her dreams die in lieu of his and her mom cannot grasp that. I also would love to see Pen heal those emotional wounds from her mother as that’s why Pen can’t even see herself as everything she is 🥹💗

I would definitely do the same for mine. However, I would be a bit more gentle with my best friend that I have known since childhood. Eloise has turned into an unrecognizable character. What will her stance be when Colin is accepting of Pen being LW? Will all be forgiven on her end? I think it’s deeper than LW. Pen has actually found her independence through writing and I think that bothers Eloise. 🤷🏾♀️ I hope they figure it out though. 😫

Personally I think the trailer seems a bit misleading. Several pieces of audio sound like they've been spliced together. They did that for the first trailer, too. I think that the conflict between Eloise and Pen won't be as drawn out as the trailer suggests. I don't think Pen actually says "Colin can't discover my secret, Whistledown is power." That part seems spliced together. I think the Whistledown is power bit is said to Eloise and I think Pen might be holding her hands as she says it. It looks like they've already reconciled at that point

Of course Portia would be shocked or in disbelief if she finds out from LW gossip column about her daughter’s engagement.. What are your thoughts on Pen and Colin moving too fast? I personally don't feel that way. There have been two seasons with them already on camera, albeit not the focus, but still showing their friendship and care for one another. As a personal story of friends to lovers, 21 years of marriage and two now young adults behind it, I can definitely say that when the feelings of more than friendship come to the surface and it's acted on.....things tend to happen "swiftly"....😂😂😂 The passion is electric because you already know the person and there is an urgency to experience "more" of that person....so all I have to say is I am not here to see Colin be a gentleman.....😂😂😂

Great analysis and reaction! Thank you for breaking it down so thoroughly. I am sure Eloise will not do anything overly mean or uncool. I think she has a lot of sympathy for Penn's situation (and probably some unsaid admiration for her as well). I believe she is an ally for Penn, even if she is reserved in how she expresses it. That said, she wants what is best for Colin and, ultimately, for Penelope as well. The truth does need to come out in a way which is confidential and one-on-one between Colin and Penn. He should be given the truth and the space to process it. I don't think it will be a deal-breaker for him but he has to come to a more full-knowledge of his intended, dear Penelope, in the right way. He will honor her but best way to do that is if she honors him as well, by telling the truth and getting all the secrets out there. Then they can move forward as equals.
I 100% agree, he should know before they are married. And he should be stepping into this Union knowing all there is to know about Pen.

I get Eloise wanting to protect her brother. But that’s not all it is. She had an attitude before. Pen forgave her for outing Colin helping her find a husband but she can’t seem to let go Pen outing her and Theo even though she knows it was to protect her from the Queen.
There is definitely some jealousy there bc pen has power as whistledown. And bitterness bc she didn’t know. As Eloise had said, she expect everyone to see things as she does and can’t get why they don’t. She isn’t very tolerant. She doesn’t appreciate the privilege she has that Pen and Cressida don’t.
I think they have both made big mistakes but Eloise took Pen for granted. She didn’t really see or know her bc she was always so caught up in herself. That’s her best friends but she didn’t see that Pen had feelings for Colin or realize she was a romantic to wanted to be married and not end up a spinster?
Also Eloise making snide comments during polins engagement toast is just petty. Either tell him or shut up and get over it bc right now in her effort to spite Pen she is also ruining a special once in a lifetime moment for her brother.
I love violets reaction to the engagement and how excited she is . Im sure she hoped he would declare himself, that’s why she pushed him but she didn’t expect he’d move so quickly to propose.
Idk that the queen is happy in the clip. I think she’s meant to be but she’s mostly annoyed that whistledown has usurped her. She expected Francesca and her friend to be the match of the season but now Penelope and Colin have stolen the limelight and Francesca has chosen John instead.
I’m very curious about lady Danbury storyline. She said it’s best to leave the past in the past so I’m curious what is haunting her, especially where her brother is concerned. I wonder if he had an affair or a secret child bc she really isn’t a fan of his or his raking about.
Eloise and Penelope definitely need some sisterly therapy sessions! Maybe a Bridgerton version of Dr. Phil? I can understand that Eloise has very big issues taking accountability for things (except when her older siblings call her out on her wrongdoings).
I want to see her come off of her high horse and learn that holding grudges is not worth it. It's amazing how people forget a lifetime of memories and joy overall one fallout with a dear friend. About Colin being more attracted to her as Lady Whistledown - I just spotted this in season one. Their first interaction that we see on the show is when he is one of many suitors to visit Marina. They are all filing out and Colin goes straight to Pen and makes fun of one of the guys who had been reciting poetry. She says “Lord Byron he is NOT.” And he looks at her all twinkly.
But then later at a ball, they both stand on the side of the dance floor and gossip about the late lord’s widow whose red headed baby looks like her red headed footman. Colin is thrilled when she makes this speculation and says, “Penelope! What a barb!” And gazes at her in awe for too long until she gets uncomfortable and turns away. So yeah, he definitely has been enjoying her Whistledown side for a while.
Oh yeah, and: devoured.
What a great highlight! I couldn’t agree more. Colin has always loved Penelope. I will be doing a video on Pen VERY soon. It will talk about her style transformation but I also will touch on her how Whistledown is so much of who she is as a confident person. When she is in her element, LW can come out at any moment and we’ve seen it happen time and time again.
LW is the epitome of wit, confidence and the ability to expose scandal and would write whatever is necessary to seek Justice or for her personal amusement (like the late widow and the footman 🤭). Colin brings out her sense of humor in the most authentic of ways. I do believe we will see Pen become more of her LW persona as she becomes a Bridgerton and is freed from her Featherington cage. ✨🥰🫶🏽

I think Pen lied to her bestie for a long time, then threw her under the bus. Pen could have told the Queen that she was LW, but she chose to publicly humiliate Eloise. And still Eloise has kept her secret. So to say that Eloise is a wicked witch is just being insensitive. You don't get to betray me, then tell me how hurt to get. And besides that, it's her brother and she should be honest with him.
While I understand your perspective, I have to say that two wrongs don't make a right. Also, do you think Queen Lottie would have believed Pen if she told her? Being angry and avoiding Pen is one thing, but spreading hurtful information and threatening her is another. They are both wrong. I know I didn't do a reaction for season 2 of Bridgerton, so it isn't on record, but I do not agree with what Pen did. Friends should not treat each other this way, but forgiveness is also necessary to move forward.

In defence of LW (in case of a polin argument)/Unpopular opinion:
* marina: yes LW publicly humili*ted a couple and broke up their engagement. And so did colin at the dance. Only difference was pen did it to protect colin from someone out to mess up his life. And colin messed up possibly pen's last chance at a man. A man who was nothing but nice to her and had more wealth than he has. And he did it out of self*sh reasons not even knowing if pen liked him back. For all he knew he just publicly wr*cked her life, got her in trouble with her mom and made her cry in a carriage for nothing. Which one is worse?
* the Eloise thing: besides the obvious, she was protecting her, thing. All she wr^cked was her relationship with a boy she shouldn't have been leading on in the first place. If that relationship had no future its only cru*l to make the boy think so. LW did him a favour. Besides that, leading people on is kinda a family trade. Lets be honest colin seeking out pen at social gatherings, writing to her, dragging her into an empty room holding her hand etc. Even his friends thought he was courting her, cause his behaviour towards her was very inappr*priate and leading her on if he wasn't courting her. Its not just leading her on but it gives a signal to other potential suitors there. Pen had a silent crush on him for years,yes. But it was colin whose behaviour wasn't appropriate for the ton. Even her maids were giving colin the side eye. Even they trusted him as far as they could throw him with their lady. 😏🙄😂

• Will Penelope be discovered/outed as Lady Whistledown (L.W.)? Will Colin reconcile himself to the fact? Will their relationship survive this discovery?
• Is Charlotte really out merely to humiliate & punish her? Will anybody swoop in & save the day… & who will that be?? Lady Danbury?
There is an interesting 🤔 interaction in the Part 2 Trailer… where Penelope says she can take of her herself… & Colin exclaims “than what use am I??”
Colin seems to be a product of this Regency time-period, where men/husbands are intended to PROTECT & rescue their women & children… from everything, & all times.
Whereas Penelope has evolved to become a self-sufficient woman…Due to her father’s continual failure to provide & rescue her… and ironically, from her MOTHER Portia’s examples of persistent, relentless refusals to cave in & declare herself helpless… & instead manipulating/manifesting developments around her for material advantage/security.
Penelope has learnt from hard experience not to rely on ANYONE else… & this habit would indeed be really hard to let go of.
Could Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury… Colin…even Eloise!… could they & others be able to step out of their time period, & admire Penelope’s efforts to become a self-sufficient woman?

I’m hoping… that ultimately… what saves Penelope from discovery & punishment… is her very own pen 🖊️.
Penelope needs to read the ENTIRE Ton in one edition… for their combined cruelty & hypocrisy… exposing them for their cruel delighting in the disasters of others… combined with the ingrained indignation & fears of being exposed for THE EXACT SAME weaknesses & faults.
And “noble, wellbred” society’s standing on the necks of all women, forbidding them to even attempt to become self-made & self-sufficient.
I think that Eloise secretly wishes that she could Lady Whistledown the entire Ton in this manner herself… but does not have the skills, drive or gumption to do so. I think secretly this frustrates her.
Eloise also doesn’t have the desperate circumstances to do so, unlike Penelope. Eloise’s life under the Bridgerton roof is too comfortable & privileged. Whereas the Featherington household is like a constantly sinking ship.
Such a great perspective! I also think the differences in Mothers plays a big part in the way Eloise and Pen navigate the ton. The encouragement Eloise gets from Violet versus the verbal persecution Pen gets from Portia. Pen in a prison of cruelty and suffocation while Eloise simply does not want to bear children and marry a man. The discomfort is very different but Eloise does not seem to see it.
I am hoping that she eventually will and ease up on Pen a bit. 🙏🏽

We got a lot of wild cards where lady W’s influence may help undo some bad things. Lady Tilly’s discussion with her lawyer didn’t sound legal or nice. Penelope may need to save her families fortune, and it would be nice if she could repay Eloise for doing her wrong at the end of last season.
I also have VERY mixed emotions about Portia. I think she wants her daughters to have the financial security that she did not get in her marriage. That she knows only one way to get a husband and anything else could result in all the problems she faced with her husband. I do think she says some hurtful things but I do think she loves her daughter.

I guess people do the best with what they have and know. Understandably, Ottis doesn’t want her daughters to go through what she has. I see it in the husbands she chose for the two sisters. They adore those girls. I’m sure that was intentional. 🥰

Yes I still think portia is a narc, but there is also a personality type that doesn't have feelings high in the function stack (trust me I know these people, they mean well but are difficult). She can also be trying to prevent what happened to her to happen to her girls. She domin*tes the men as well to keep them in check. She just wanted 2 devoted softy men for her daughters with the girls or her in charge. To protect her girls. But in her eyes pen is too soft. So staying with mom so no guy can take advant*ge of her would be the safest place for daughter number 3. Debling would be gone,so basically the stability without the opportunity of him letting her daughter down. But pen can take care of herself.
I still think portia is a narc but in her tw^sted way she can be trying to protect and strengthen her daughters. So if all 3 girls end up in stable marriages with devoted husbands and their own kids. Portia's job will be done especially if one of them has a boy. If she is not simply a narc that is.
I am going to be doing a video on Portia’s mothering very soon and I totally agree that she means well, she just needs to pa made it better. 😬
@@JoiLouiseReacts portia is an interesting one. There are 🚩 thats for sure and her behaviour is downright t*xic but it might come from a good-ish place. But still portia is why pen is who she is. She is dev*lued so many times she doesn't trust in herself. And she doesn't dare speak out. And when the ton treats her disresp*ctful she accepts it cause so does mom. So she created LW. And there are elements of portia in LW, pen is definitely portia's daughter. But pen feels more then portia does. But I think for butterfly pen to emerge she has to find an appropriate way to incorporate her own inner portia into her life. At some point she should push back against portia. Or pull a portia when the men of the ton disresp*ct her.

But that still doesn't explain her manip*lation, deval*eing. Thats taught behaviour, pen learned that from her mom. But she also picked up much from the bridgertons. Violets love for love for example rubbed off on pen. And colin also had an influence on pen.
I have a theory about whats about to go down, based on pure intuition nothing more but bare with me here. Before I add my 2 cents, just some thoughts about the trailer.
* portia is such a narc. First trying to convince her daughter no one would want her, then saying its great to never marry so she won't try to find someone. Its purely to keep pen down cause she gets off on that. Then she was ok with debling cause it was a way for HER to get pow*r by using her daughter. Then when she choose love she pretends to be on her side (cause it gives her attention and status by using her daughter) but she is manip*lating pen into not wanting to marry colin cause it would mean giving up on her own life. Narc. Please pen be done with portia.
Having said that I think this season will boil down to colin/psyche trying to protect pen/eros from the queen. Thats the biggest thr*at. I don't think colin will get angry about the LW thing cause if he does pen needs to point out he is being a huge hyp^crite. Colin basically pulled a marina when he purposefully broke up pen's engagement and not to protect him like LW did, no colin was being self*sh. She did it to protect him, he did the same thing cause he was jeal^us. I think they are more then even.
But I also don't think he will be angry, the "then what good am I to you" line followed by a passionate kiss kinda tells me that hearing there is a bounty on his girls head will only activate hero colin. He will want to protect her, but you can't face a queen so considering colin likes to travel I think he will wanna run with his girl instead. But considering they are in season 4, I don't think they will run. So they get outed before that can happen instead.
I think the moment with pen in the green dress with a removed colin isn't colin being emotionally removed from pen. I think pen took centre stage. I think the queen pointing is her exposing LW to the public. The column behind the queen is the same as pen in in the green dress, its the same room, the same event. I think pen's last LW edition will be a life showing. She will probably wax poetically about love for all to hear. Which will touch the queen. Cause both women faithfully love their men, will do anything to protect their men, both women found their voice by speaking up for their men. Both women love love and wanna match people cause love was so rare in their own lives. She will do an oath to love and then LW will bow out for good, on her terms. Cause pen will realise the strength of LW is part of her so she doesn't need to hide anymore. She can be sweet pen, but let LW loose when for example portia is being a B. Or when the men of the ton don't show her the proper behavior she deserves. Thats the moment LW needs to speak up. 😂

They’re being too slow with the Marcus Anderson story. They give us so much blatant nothing that we are all just waiting until they get back to us in a future episode on what they want us to feel. It’s just wasting screen time right now.
I do believe there were too many storylines this season. Perhaps if they done a Violet Bridgerton series in past and present tense like they did Queen Charlotte it would have left more time to develop Marcus and give us all the DESIRED love story of Edmond and Violet. From Benedict and Lady Tilly to the Mondrich’s, the first four episode’s definitely felt “packed”.
10:09 it’s interesting that Colin’s outfit has drastically changed from carefree-cavalier adventure world traveller 🧳… to comfortable satisfied stay-at-home HUSBAND.
He got his wife; now it seems he’s keen to be settling into that comfortable “husband” cliche.
He is embracing that Regency destiny that his society has intended for him. 🤨
