It's a shame you couldn't have told Speedy Racer he had his butt wiped by a 300,000 mile Corvette that you just bought from a chicken farmer in Florida. Fantastic videos and it shows just how wonderful car people are for helping fellow car people. When Mike looks like he's not having a great time you know the problem is serious. Big Al's bike and Auto are now on my must watch list and on many others I'm sure. Thank you.

That was an awesome video! I can't believe both cars made it, especially that Allante with the strawberry milkshake transmission. CRAZY! Throw in COVID and some late night wrenching sessions too. Holy crap! That was an adventure for sure! Well done!
I'm looking to see some videos on the Allante going forward. Service the tranny, get the shifter working properly, and get those windows to work and it will be a cool cruiser! That really is a nice looking car.
Hey Randy, just a shot in the dark, but it could be possible that at the higher speed the water in the trans fluid gained enough heat to start boiling and built pressure to push out the dip stick. Hopefully all is well! Love the channel and keep up the good work!

Its crazy that the Allante made it all the way after how flooded it was. Corvettes have been great highway cars for a long time. They will do ~30 mpg with a manual trans.

You really hit a lick on that Caddy! She is beautiful, the interior is perfect and so is the engine bay. Its only got 38K miles on it, you can sell that someone really loved that car. I hope we get to see it for a while on the channel. Hopefully the Corvette just has a leaky valve cover but my guess is that the rear main seal is going out seeing that it has tons of miles on it. 10w30 is good for a high mileage LS btw.

10:29 my guess is when you flush the transmission fluid out until it’s completely red. The trans cooler inside the radiator still had the water base transmission fluid in it. You be amazed how much transmission fluid is in the cooler side of radiator to. It’s almost a full quart of it.

Awesome video and beautiful cars regardless of their problems. It has always been a dream of mine ,since I started driving to drive cross country from Long Island NY, where I live , to San Diego California in a 1962 Cadillac Series 62 convertible with the top down the whole way..

Just to know about the Corvette when you was taking a look underneath for the leak take a look at the oil filter that's where it was dripping.

I had a 1990 Allante and loved it. Wish i still had her.
I was also a small dealership used cars and here in New York you had to have the registration with that plate so they don't emboss the plates here anymore it's flat so I used to put the registration right on the back of the plate cover it with clear tape I know Oklahoma isn't as strict as here plates are very expensive so is the insurance

If had choose between C6 Vette vs Cadillac Alanta convertible say C6 Vette easy work on parts basic find seem like Monkey Wrench Mike was having problems with milkshake transmission Alanta but these road trip videos are excited & awesome to watch Randy made home@ end of day.
All I'm going to say is if I can't have good people like Mike and Al around me, I don't want you around me.
Randy came too close to ending up in a Jackson, MS jail with the drunks and 'ladies' and Mike letting him rot overnight before bailing him out for sticking him with the heatless, side window less, cold Caddy.. 😁You guys have to be great friends for all the crazy stuff you do together. That is something many guys don't have.

You could try hooking 12V directly to the window motors to see if you could raise the window. The flood may have just affected the window switches on the Allante. Glad you made it back!

I'm not too surprised they made it. I once took a $700 120K '91 Chevy Van on two 2500 mile road trips in two years, from NY to SC and back. The only trouble I had was I had a tire develop a bulge and pull to one side so I swapped the fronts to the back and vice versa. GM stuff is pretty good.
You can get a heater that plugs into cigarette lighter at Walmart or harbor freight tools or automotive store

Glad you both made it home safely, I have done the very same thing buying cars from Hurricane Harvey, it was always a gamble if they would make it home but none of them left me stranded on the side of the road!!! I always have said (Man Made it Man Can Fix It!!!) keep up the Great Content and I really enjoyed watching this series! Buy some more Hurricane Ian flood cars!!! 🎉❤😊❤🎉🌀

Randy, The smaller oil drip is coming from your OIL FILTER! 33:53
The only stop leak I’ve ever found that works is AT-205 Reseal. I had a power steering leak so bad it drained the whole reservoir/pump (gm style) overnight. A bottle of that and it stopped leaking for an entire year.
The trans fluid like that and 950 miles to go I would take to a jiffy lube and flush it out since you have no tools .It would be cheaper to do that than I new trans and a big tow bill

I bet the trans vent on the Caddy's transmission was plugged up due to the crud from the flood. As for the Vette and its leaks. It would not be a GM product without a leak or two. A nice adventure.
If the power window switches are bad I may be able to make some for you. The replacements from Pina are probably $100’s or more.

Mike and Al, I don’t think you flush the transmission completely. Did you flush the transmission’s cooler in the radiator also? I suspect the hose was connected before the transmission cooler. Therefore the transmission is blocked now that you’re driving it with the return line into the radiator. That’s where all of the foam came from. That would be my guess as to what happened. I love the content.
I was thinking the same thing it looked like they took the off directly from the transmission instead of the cooler end which is my guess.

The Lovely Bride and I greatly enjoy smoking GM, Ford, and especially Fiat/Chrysler products off the line and on the interstate with our 2014, 5.7L, quad cab, 4X4 RAM pickup. Watching them get smaller and smaller in our rear-view mirrors brings great joy to our late 60s hearts.

yall need to get some good insulated coveralls :) you will be a lot warmer in a car with no heat I promise my truck only had 1 out of 4 on the heat and wind would get through the doors haha I was always freezing until I got coveralls

Why wouldn't you just take it to a shop and have the transmission fluid changed for a simple starter fix. Way better then continuing to drive with it the way it is. I am rally baffled that this was not the automatic obvious thing to do. In the time it took to go eat breakfast the fluid could have been changed and maybe saved the transmission instead of completely destroy it?! Is it just for content? Is that what I am missing? Or?
Yes that is exactly what you’re missing
The door handle on the Allante isn’t a Cadillac part. Pininfarina put the door handles on. The door key is also not an original GM part. The Allante has a lot of odd European parts on it.
The window switches, if you can find them, will be used and cost hundreds.

Before you replace all the seals and gaskets on the Corvette check out "AT 205 Reseal"...Scotty Kilmer recommended and I tried it on a 2000 Chrysler Town And Country minivan that leaked 5 quarts a week...Within a week it absolutely quit leaking...so for $25 the Valdez quit leaking....Available on eBay or Amazon
Did you clean out the transmission cooler on the Cadillac when you did the flush? I'm guessing the froth is residual from the cooler that mixed with the new stuff.

I've seen a few cases of shared parts on cars due to them using the same supplier. The 90s Euro Honda Civics (MA, not the same as the 6th gen US model) used the same door handles as the 00-06 Subaru Impreza. Similarly, you'll notice Toyota and Subaru use the same beep for the keyless entry system.
