Perhaps not as bad as what we did years ago in the Southern California region. A city had bats living under a HUGE underpass region, locals were complaining about the bats, concerns about them being rabies carriers. Even though the Center for Disease Control stated that there was no wide-scale concern or problem with this, the city decided to react anyway. So they caught and relocated the bats, it was a very expensive project. Within one year, the mosquito population exploded so badly that the local hospitals were noting that there was a huge amount of diseases from mosquitos impacting the people in the area. There were actual deaths involved. They had to, at great expense, go where they relocated the bats and put them back under the underpass.
This reminds me of an old Warner Brothers cartoon where Porky Pig is sick of seeing a mouse in his apartment. Bugs Bunny convinces him to buy a cat. Mouse moves out but cat annoys Porky so Bugs sells him a dog. Dog chases cat away but dog leaves ‘droppings. Bugs then sells him a tiger and dog vanishes. But tiger keeps Porky scared. So he buys an elephant from handy Bugs. Elephant tears up apartment so Bugs sells him a VERY expensive mouse which scares elephant so much, it runs through a wall…
