As a non Aberdeen fan i've really enjoyed going to watch them this season ever since i moved here i've seen the ups & downs but this season has been the best. Plus even better now that the fans are coming out in big numbers to watch them so the fans are buying into this well along with the players. Only thing is i hope Aberdeen can keep their best players plus add to the squad during January & next summer plus stay injury free even though Guèye is out still got Sokler & Nisbet up front.
Great show. I agree with Terry, Duk is a sensitive soul that was mis-managed last season. He reads and watches everything on social media and probably left for his summer break feeling unloved . An in form Duk is a major asset to our club and i'm glad to see him back in the fold working under our new manager.
I said before the season kicked off that finishing 3rd or 4th would be fine this season, and i stand by that. Obviously, it would be incredible were we to finish better than 3rd, but i feel we need to keep calm, or as Jimmy says, stay humble. We've been all over the place the last number of years, so it's difficult to not get carried away with the start we've had, and seeing how Jimmy has conducted himself, and improved the squad in terms of personnel, results, and the attitude of the squad. We have to though keep calm. Look for 3rd/4th and if we're all being honest, had that been offered to us before the season kicked off, we'd have taken that, so we still take that. As i say, if we finish higher than that, then it's a bonus. If, however we allow ourselves to get carried away, and start dreaming of 2nd, and we finish 4th, then there's going to be a lot of disappointed, and disillusioned fans.
Good show Ali, just missed the live steam but enjoyed the catchup. The feel-good factor Thelin has brought is brilliant. He's more than just a tactical manager. He knows and sees how to build an atmosphere and bring people together on and off the pitch. A truly modern and intelligent manager. We're lucky to have him. Regardless, when we hit a dip... we've gotta stick with him and the team.
Good stuff min Ally boy. Had to laugh at Terry going on aboot Nelsons name, still struggling with it ma self 😂 So far so good for Jimmy, I dina see how we cant keep close to celtic this season, its up to us to win oor games, there's nothing stopping us. I remember Lee Richardson got a really good send off in the last game of the season against Celtic in May 94, John Burridge wiz in goal for us that day, Brian Irvine equalised in a 1-1 draw. Ooooh Rico Ooooh Rico.
I was at ross county and at the end of the game I was emotionally wrecked, fatigued and jubilant all at the same time. Took 3 days to recover. Voice is still lost in Dingwall. FANTASTIC
Another point to make about Jimmy that I haven't seen mentioned, is the fact his Elfsborg team qualified for the Europa League. He would have had a big input on that team before he left to join us. An impressive achievement.
Just a point on the strength of schedule that we have had so far. In the first 4 games the teams we have played have accumulated 10 points. That is the lowest out of all the teams so we have had the "easiest" start. Dundee Utd not far behind with 12 and Celtic 14. Ross County have had the most difficult with 34. Next 4 games we have the 2nd hardest schedule with 26. Hearts have it more difficult with 30. Rangers and Dundee Utd have it easiest with 14. So next 4 games will tell is where we are but as you say, you can only beat whats in front of you, and the Dons have done that, so. Anyway, stats are like mini skirts so take all the above with that pinch of salt..
I don't go with this train of thought that we've had an 'easy start'. If we look at results against St Johnstone, St Mirren, Kilmarnock, and Ross County last season, then you see that we haven't had it all that easy. We drew twice with St Johnstone, lost 2-0(at home), then won 1-0 in Perth. We fluked a 2-2 draw with St Mirren away, got gubbed 3-0 at home, then lost 2-1 away. Killie beat us comfortably three times last season, 2-0, 1-0, and 2-0. We fared better v County only dropping point in the final game in a 2-2 draw. Certainly as far as i'm concerned, we dominated both Saints, and Killie in our opening 3 games, we never looked like dropping points, we never looked in trouble. Last season, and previous season, we've huffed and puffed our way to results against these teams. This season, we've looked in control, composed and calm. Point being, in previous seasons, we might only have gained 5 or 6 points from these opening fixtures. We've seen enough to suggest there is drastic improvement, perhaps not necessarily in terms of scorelines, but certainly in terms of how we control games, and when needs be, grind out a win.
Did Lopes admit his bad behavior ? - He only regretted his absence (going by statement) unless I am mistaken.. If he were genuine he would have surely been explicit should be nowhere near the team , not least for his negative influence back to claim wages and get move without contributing anything IMO
