- Pay To Win is referred to as purchasing in-game content with real life currency, that can provide the player in-game advantage or further advance in-game, in other words, speeding up progression.
However, in Growtopia's case, I do not think it is Pay To Win at all, with many different reasons to support my argument. In this video, I will go over my reasons, points, and evidences to further back my opinion up on why the popular MMO game "Growtopia" is not pay to win.

Growtopia is NOT Pay To Win, Here's Why. - เกม
There’s a hidden market where pay to win is truly ruining growtopia. Casino owners use the profits they make to sell BGLS for real money. I believe this is where true pay to win comes from.

growtopia has some pay-to-win aspects, but theyre more like... um.. pay-to... skip a huge amount of boring parts of the game. i would like if the game allowed more possibilities in stuff liek fishing and surgeries without having to break BLOCC for 6 hours to get to do that few card battles that ur gonna lose anyways for not having enough BLOCC breaking to prepare for them

Eh buying gems that can help you buy items for quests is a huge advantage than grinding for gems to buy items for quests
i dont necessarily agree. It looks like their main priority is to add more paytowin instead of fixing the servers which has been a problem for years and hasnt changed a little bit. Other games do it too but at least they fix the things that need fixing. I would understand them adding more paytowin if they at least fixed the servers, But it looks like they never will. Even 10 years later the servers will be just as bad or even worse. The other reason why i dont like ubisoft : They dont listen to their players at all, They dont listen to their players requests or ideas. They just keep adding stuff that the players have no interest in, Like before : iotms were sold for gems, And now they just sell items for 10 Dollars (Money) on shop, Just to make 7 year old kids spend their parents money on it xD

Whatever, but Why someone call PTW to a game that have no stage, level, and anything else that have winning mechanic. What growtopia Concept i know is Made your own journey about the way you choose many things to do. One again Why Call you growtopia is PTW? Is the game have a Stage to complete for item in growtopia that you buy for money?, This is Example: if you want to do a Legendary quest then you buying gems or item from growtopia store, then you you complete and get the legendary items, so what do you get? Win achievement?, No dude Growtopia no have final stage or level to complete from money that you spend
And the right thing you must say to growtopia is not PTW, But Growtopia is a RMT Game.
@@buckazoidstudios other games do payToWin too but at least they re invest that money back into the game to make the game better or more popular (etc by buying ads, So more players would find out about the game and start playing) Ubisoft should do something useful for once and fix the servers
well if your a new player the 50$ pack would give you a huge advantage it takes the average person months of grinding to earn that mantle gems

they should add more not p2w untrdable items and im sure your familiar with runescape since u mentioned it in one of your videos and im not sure if u know about the ironman mode but they should add to growtopia to give everyone a fair chance

I considered that as a good opinion, but in my opinion, have some particular cases where in growtopia you really can do p2w to win a certain event, for example: if you ever join treasure turmoil daily challange, the more legendary maps you solved, the more pts you earn, basically you can buy a certain amout of bgls to buy legendary maps and solved them very quickly, you can buy alot of legendary maps using the bgls from the money you bought and win the challange, not just that but you can also see other p2w challanges and people paying people to not push at some certain events, hope you notice this
A lot of people in the comment section have pretty much pointed out the "Buying DLs" factor though I should've made it obvious that it was automatically crossed out in this case of the argument as it's an activity Ubisoft absolutely disapproves of -- it's illegal. This video mainly focused on what a legal player could do, mainly with in-app purchases.
Now that iotm and battle pass for money only, you literally buy dls. The dls are what propels you and cancels all the grind so you can turn to passive incomes such as tackle farm, bfg, science stat farm from the jump. All 10$ items are most likely going to rise like rift cape. The problem is that for people who pay, they get so many more benefits than f2p players. To conclude, i think gt is a huge p2w game. Traditional for ubisoft games
While yes, Growtopia is free to play, I believe the monetization scheme has changed a lot since the Seth and Hamumu days. Back in 2013, Seth's goals with Growtopia were really different compared to today. As he stated (I'll paraphrase): "We don't want whales, we want schools of tiny fish who will pop in a few bucks now and then. If a customer ends up spending 5 cents an hour that would be great, and I think a decent value."
This is in contrast to Ubisoft's current monetization schemes, wherein they try to make in game purchases extremely expensive. (I've seen purchases of more than $50!)
In my opinion, the fact that Ubisoft is a company does not excuse them for, for example, cloning Fortnite's Battle Pass (actually, internally, it's really called the Battle Pass). I think Ubisoft should focus more on improving the game experience, cleaning up the community (i.e. looking after casino owners in particular and making sure they cannot earn money hosting casinos), and making players WANT to spend money on this game naturally instead of trying to bait them into doing so. They are a big company, they have the resources to invest in the game, and I'd actually love to see one of my childhood games grow from being in the decrepit state that it is right now, to being an enjoyable experience again.
The Growtopia ADventure update in particular was extremely controversial, not because this is the first time advertisements were shoved down our throats, but also because they are opt OUT with the Ad Control Block, rather than opt IN. The fact of the matter is, the default background is no longer as clean as it is on the title screen, instead the ad banners and airplanes show up in ALL worlds without a weather machine or an Ad Control Block. This update was largely seen by players as a "last attempt" to cash in on the game while it's still alive.
Speaking of alive, recently I've really seen the amount of players playing the game drop significantly. While before, there were like 60,000 players online at a time on average, now that number has dropped down to 30,000. While I don't doubt that a large portion of players BACK THEN were bots, I think that's still the case.
Also, the Growtopia developers haven't bothered fixing the most important issue in the game (which can be solved imo), which is autofarming on Android. A cheat called PowerKuy is so popular that its creator has a VERIFIED channel, only by making Growtopia cheats for Android and pushing autofarming into the mainstream. Another large issue with Growtopia is private servers, which take away a large portion of the players that would be playing Growtopia and they instead play on community-run private servers, and while the original Growtopia private server's source code was shutdown with a DMCA request from Ubisoft on 15 May 2020 (github.com/github/dmca/blob/master/2020/05/2020-05-15-growtopia.md), the private server community was largely unaffected, because there were thousands of forks that were not affected. Also, people are now selling private server source code, items and other stuff for real money, a significant problem considering Growtopia's size.
I think attempting to change the network protocol or something would be a good way to make Growtopia private servers obsolete (i.e. can't connect with newer versions, can't connect with iOS without jailbreak etc.) But this is just my two cents.

Ok you said money doesnt buy time but it literally does in gt you can do many role quests in a day if you have enough gems to p2w saving alot more time to grind then a f2p

you can buy 0.18 cent/penny a diamond lock its very p2w
You forget about your blackmarket diamond lock example that if you buy dls like that you risk being banned. So it's better if u still really want it buy your world locks legit and support the game.

First reason: Growtopia has no main object like some RPG games where the objective to get strong and beat people in a PVP with higher damage, skill and (other stats). Growtopia's main objective is very arbitratry

lets be real here jimp you know the fact that most legendary title people bought dls. They avoid gettin suspended for buying dls by buyin it a little to bypass the system to know that the person is a dls buyer
Let's be real here. Illegal methods such as DL trafficking do not count as factors to say that Growtopia is Pay To Win. It is how the game is designed and how their monetary systems work. Black markets exist in many games.

The ingame packs are okay but buying illegal diamond locks from casino owners is too easy nowadays. You can recycle some bottles and gain as much diamond locks as you would from hours of grinding for real. I hope all sellers get banned cause its ruining the economy and the fun from other players.
Growtopia is not pay to win at all. In order to compete with a guy who has like 40dls networth you'll literally have to spend thousands of dollars to buy gems. Purchasing gems will give u a good start but it does not mean that you'll be the winner in the long run, it depends on the grind you give.
I also think that Ubisoft monetizing the game is not wrong. They are a company and they need money to keep this game running. However, I think Ubisoft can do more. They have a lot of things to fix like the autofarm issues and the endless hordes of spammers.
Or just buy 30 dollars worth of dls from someone and not spend thousand of dollars

@@kobalt6927 no it doesnt. No one buys gems anymore, and if they do, theyre stupid. There are so many ppl who sell dls for for 0.5 eur. Gt gem market makes it seem as if a dl has the same value as 4 yrs ago when it was 4x more valuable. Now due to dl inflation as a result of duping glitches that gt doesnt fix. Dls are dirt cheap

Growtopia is free to play, and in my opinion they shall add some items/things that can be ONLY accessed using money that will make it more interesting that players won’t get it for free/ {in-game-currency} later.
Anyways that will make them gain more money and probably more money means the more work the company will put into the game.
