That weapon part such a mistake. He value a weapon with high Crit Rate, Crit Damage or EM. If such weapon has no value people, guide builder & Theory crafter won't pick Foliar as his BiS. The reason why HoD such a godsend are cuz it's nuts Crit Rate and Crit Damage. Low ATK isn't a problem.

Like cryptonema said, "Good weapon won't change output" is wrong, he just values crit and EM more than atk (even tho he too has atk scaling so he can benefit from atk buffers), and HoD has good crit stats. It's why crit 5-star weapons are also pretty high up there, followed by (not atk weapon but) EM 4-stars. Also, other than crit and EM, level him to 90 as well since dendro reactions scale really well with character level even with low investment.
What i meant was for hod passive to have 100% uptime, i good healer like kuki should be best even with zhongli shield cause one can take some dmg and just below 90% hp hod passive won’t be active.
i have both, ayato is good hyperbloom driver but alhaitam quickbloom is just far superior. for fun, you can use both in one team, ayato as off field hydro applier. with enough er his burst has 100% uptime.
Alhaitham is a DPS only. Ayato can be used as a sub at times. If you can get either Nahida, Baizhou or Kaveh in 3.6 you will be set. I know this is a two month old question. I’ve been maining Al most of that time

What is better, HoD or the umbrella? with HoD my ratio is like 98/180 if my HP is high. but it's hard to keep the HP up.
If you are not using HoD, you better off with Iron Sting
HoD i think better for stats build , umbrella need good stats to use but DMG better on single target

Max Burst DMG you need combo E + 1 charged first then use Burst :) !
