    "Think about what you want to spend your days doing is a much better career plan than to find a title, and wanting to be that thing." Great life advice in this random video I found.

    Totally agree about figuring what you want to do vs finding a title. Perfect advice.

      @@leilanny I’m graduating may 2020 from ASU in urban planning, it’s literally easier than high school in my opinion as long as you enjoy the subject. Also, internships are KEY. I’m now full time where I first got an internship at, and I wouldn’t have gotten there if not for the internship. Also make sure you get college credit for any internships you do (it’s possible)

    I’ve graduated from architecture and I plan to pursue a career in urban planning, probably as a town planner. I have a little experience in architectural practice however I feel like Im leaned towards city planning. I plan to apply for a position in a planning firm/practice without having any degree in urban planning. I plan to acquire some experiences first and then continue my study in Master of Urban Planning.
    So my question is;
    Is it possible for an architect graduate to work in a planning firm? What should I expect? What sort of knowledge that I need to acquire first? What kind of position that I should go for for entry-level?

      Congrats, Mira! We found this link to further information on how to become an Urban Planner. We also suggest looking on job boards to see what internships and jobs are available at law firms and planning firms near you, and asking to shadow an Urban Planner near you. Happy learning! www.bls.gov/ooh/life-physical-and-social-science/urban-and-regional-planners.htm#tab-4

      Hi - I work for a private urban planning consulting firm and we have quite a few architects, structural engineers, landscape architects, etc. on staff and would love to chat if you’re still looking to have some insight on that topic. Hope the last two years have been treating you well and you’re on you’re way to achieving your goal!

    Any recommendations on scholarships, professors, etc specifically at ASU? Looking to transfer there soon. & Thanks for this video!

    • @andersonstudiosmusic
      @andersonstudiosmusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I transferred to ASU this past summer! I'm just an urban planning minor, but I know professor Kelley is excellent and teaches both undergrad and graduate courses in the urban planning programs. Professor Hagen is also amazing, but I believe he primarily teaches the lower level undergraduate planning courses and focuses on sustainability.
      Other than FAFSA grants and a handful of privately funded scholarships ASU has little to offer in terms of financial aid, but there are a ton of scholarships available outside of the university which often go unused because people don't seek them out! Just do some research on scholarships for urban planning or related fields, and once you're enrolled at ASU they have programs which help connect you to other scholarship sources as well.
      Hope this was helpful. Btw, ASU has a really good urban planning program, and from what I've experienced you really can't go wrong with any of the professors.
