The magical pairing of Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines, perfectly accompanied with a stellar 1980s soundtrack with Michael McDonald's feelgood masterpiece the icing on top. I was an 80s kid watching this at the cinema, it just makes me smile reliving that bygone era of fun.
Wait... how'd you see it in the theaters as a kid? It's R-rated.
@@katmore9 - Lol, you could see anything in the 80s. People didn't care. Get an adult to buy the ticket at the box office (no online sales!) and just walk in. It wasn't like it is now.
Rest in Peace 🕊️ Gregory Hines. I love this song and the movie 🍿❤❤❤
Thank you X55 AD!!
I'm still rollerskating to this in 7/19/22!!! I adored this when it came out and still do!♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
WHO'S WITH ME?
💜
Great movie, great song...great everything. There are movies, scenes from movies, the actors and the music that are magical...this is one of them. An absolute favorite of mine...I've always been a fan of Michael McDonald, he's pure genius and such a huge talent.
Great movie. One of the most underrated buddy cop movies. Awesome soundtrack. The late great Gregory Hines and in the incomparable Billy Crystal, and of course, the man with the most 80s voice ever, Michael McDonald.
That beat, that groove...gone with the 80s
😢😂😮😊 all the emotions I feel as an 80s baby listening to this masterpiece 😢
Masterpiece
@@sharris9613 agreed
I love watching this video and seeing Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal having so much fun. The song brings back so many good memories.
So glad I’m an 80s child. Children of today have no clue what real music is 😊
I agree 100% with that. Music of the 1980's and 1970s was the best.
Me too
I couldn't agree more❤
The 80's were a great time to be alive!!
The music was the best & this song brings back
wonderful memories!!
Feel the magic, baby!!
This song never gets old, it always makes me feel happy.....😁
THIS SONG IS A FOREVER MOOD🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾♥️♥️
The man has been blessed by the gods for having one of the best male voices of all time.
My Father took to see this Movie when i was 9yrs old.. Songs pop up on my mind from the past, and play in my head for days this time it was this one. Daddy i know your still with me this one for you. We'll keep the Spirit Alive. All night Long. JCB 8/30/39 - 4/15/19
Laying in bed this song popped in my head. Did a search, found it, closed my eyes and listened to it. Put a smile on my face. Always loved this song. Such an iconic tune.
Michael McDonald never gets old.
YEP, women worship him, and guys idolize him! He is one of a kind! 😀
Lucky him.
Saw this CULT CLASSIC back in '86 when it first premiered at The Whitestone Cinemas in The Bronx...Good Memories!!!....GREAT MOVIE!!!
If this song doesn’t make you feel good, then I don’t know what to tell you.
That's a bold statement and I agree with you.
It is the ultimate feel good song 🎶
The most underrated buddy cop movie of all time...Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal were so awesome together!
Man, does time fly by. This was my song and movie. Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. I miss these days. Still play this cut to this day on my gym playlist. All the versions (dub, instrumental, extended mix) are great!
October 24, who is here. I love this song. I remember when I saw this video.
Me!🖐🏾
Yes if you weren't around in the 70s and 80s you definitely missed out on good times ❤
Indeed , born 72 , missed my those years , if only I can go back 😩
Ah! 1986. Sixth grade! Good times! Good song!
Being a 13 year old in 1986, this song brings back so many memories for me. 😢❤️
Same here! I was 13 in 1986 too. Watched this music video over and over on MTV and VH1
I was also 13 in 1986, this was my absolute favorite song for that summer!
I was 8 then...wow time flies...this song is still so fresh ... lovely classic beats
❤
1973 stand up!!!
RIP Gregory Hines, looks like him and Billy Crystal were having such fun in that bar.
Best buddy cop movie before it's time......
Their chemistry rivaled that of Wilder and Pryor...and they only did one movie together I believe.
Huge loss....
I think they had fun filming the movie and the music video.
@@laysonbrooks7658 Unfortunately, this music video is the closest thing to a sequel of Running Scared we will ever see.
These sounds will never come again aren't we lucky to be in the 70s and 80s when life was simple and fun and all you had to worry about was having enough cash for sat night out people dressed cool to go out even if it was a kipper tie lol 😊
Wish we could all go back the 80s again ❤
Kids today will NEVER know or understand just how much life was better before the internet was in every household, when 99% of families only had a house phone (landline) & everyone was outside unless you were punished!! LOL
You’re on the internet now 🤷♂️
Life was not better before the internet, and I was a teen when the internet was just heating up
Everything about the 80’s was magical and I miss it everyday.
😞
This song gives me goose pimples everytime i hear it …. Simply a timeless masterpiece! 🔥👏🏻
This is the epitome of my adolescent nostalgia! Oh, and Fletch and Cheers. Love it all ❤❤
Tune..!!🥂. I was 26 when this came out in 86!! Stood the test of time! Rod Temperton one of the best music writers ever!! And that voice from Michael McDonald!. What a combination and the video is a pleasure to watch!! 💃🌻🎊💕🥳☀️🎈🎉❤️🍸💖💘👑👸🥂

I wonder if we'll ever truly have sweet freedom again. This song needs to be played all over the radio. I've never seen our country so divided and filled with so much hatred for each other. It's so sad!😢
Very true 🙏
His voice take me back to my preteen years. This voice is timeless. Missing all my loved ones that introduced me to this era of feel good music
🙏🏽🤙🏽
Me too, I was 8 when this came out and I am instantly transported back to the 80s when I hear this song. It was actually kinda of a repressed memory until I saw the end part of the video with Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal on tik tok recently and when I saw it, I knew every word.
How I wish I was back in the 80's again....

How could we ever stop listening to your unique voice? Your voice is so unique, it was one of just a few voices i could identify even as background vocals. Sweet freedom was always very special for me. For me it is the impression of pure joy of life.
Thank you for your music Michael

@@michaelmcdonald7013 Sweet Freedom is great and so is I keep forgetting. I always enjoyed your voice with the Doobie Brothers as well. You with Kenny Loggins , Christopher Cross and a whole host of others. Thank you for all of it Mr. Mcdonald!
Same here lol
I’m just 37 but always enjoyed this kinda music. Being born in 86 I still sorta caught the tail end of great hits like this. Grew up always listening to songs like this especially late at night listening to Delilah on the radio with her show.
I still remember seeing this music video on MTV. One of those rare gems that leaves a lasting impression that never goes away.
Great Song 🎵 by MICHAEL McDONALD,SWEET FREEDOM, REST IN PEACE GREGORY HINES 🙏👏😢❣
He has the same exact name as Mr. McDonald from Mad tv and that guy looks alot like Nicholas cage
I remember watching this movie back in the Army, Michael McDonald was blowing up then.
I'm now 10 years old. The nostalgia hit hard with this one. It was really great growing up in the 80's. We had such a simple life but couldn't deny we were blessed with amazing music to listen to as kids. Gen X needs to save humanity.
The 80s have to be the best years of my life , the songs , the music was the best you could understand what they were singing, kids today have no clue how to live
What a voice. No amount of autotuning could equal Michael's beautiful sound.
The class of michael macdonald is 💯 vocal perfection.
Autotuning his voice would be like 3D printing the Elgin Marbles.
What a voice, indeed. Sublime✨😍🎺
Indeed. His voice is perfect!
Love this song. I'm 46 and when I was a kid I used to think he was saying "Caffeine free Diet Coke" 😂. Amazing song and one of the best male singers ever.
Man do I miss the 80's & good music!!!
Had to play it 6 times in a row! Forget how good this song was. Just brilliant 👌
only 6???? try 20 plus in a loop!!!!!!
The year I graduated High School🎓👩🏻🎓, one of my best years ever! Love the movie and i definitely Michael McDonald ❤️
One of great songs from this decade! Underrated but still a masterpiece of a song! Keeping the spirit alive all night long! 1986 was one of the best years of my life. Friends and girlfriends everywhere. Some of the best memoires were just ahead of me. I will always love this decade! ❤😊🎉
