- On a road trip to Fort William in Scotland I decided it was time I did a review of my Abarth 695 70th Anniversary edition, affectionately known as ASBO. Includes a bit of scenery, car review proper starts at 3 mins 21. No speed limits were harmed in the making of the film.
A separate film of the scenery and other things we got up to can be found on the channel for those who are interested in such things.
The Brembos are quite bity for want of a better word. The abarth braking system on the 595 pista is a bit better for normal road use but you'll definitely be thankful for having the bigger brakes on track
Bitey is a good way to sum them up! They do have plenty of feel too, and am looking forward to seeing how good they are on track at some point.
With regards to the gearbox. Fiat did fit a six speed to the NA 1.4 16v and to my TwinAir 105 hp although top gear seems to be the same as on our 5 speed TA 85hp. Fiat removed a bracket in order for the gearbox housing to stick out. I'm told the Abarth didn't get it because they couldn't make it fit.
That’s interesting, I don’t think many people (me included) knew that!
Spectacular scenery. You picked the right place to film the car.
Live the sound of a Monza with the valves open.
Your wife seems to put up with a lot ! I just get shouted at to 'slow down' !
(When I drove a regular 500, I was annoyed by the lack of space for your clutch foot)
she's a good'un for sure! Interesting re the clutch foot - this is our 4th Fiat 500 (2x 500 and now 2x Abarth) and I've never found it an issue. Odd one , that .
