I'm aware that a lot of people have uploaded this already, however, I have looped it for your listening pleasure, and will try to do so with more themes. Thanks to eventhubs for uploading the picture and theme.

To be fair, i'm willing to bet that even most casual Darkstalkers fans can't name 5 characters who aren't either female or Dimitri.

Yeah. To be honest, i'd love to see Pyron and in a Marvel VS game. The return of Anakaris and the addition of Bishamon would be sweet, too. Darkstalkers was one of the best things to happen to me in the 90's, and still play it to this day.
Hsien Ko is a Jiang Shi, meaning she is a Chinese Hopping Ghost. She was originally a Chinese girl with her sister Lei-Lei, her mother was taken by the forces of darkness and Hsien Ko and her sister used a spell to turn into a Jiang Shi so they can save there mother, she is the actual person while Lei-Lei is the parchment spell making sure her power is controllable.
DrLachrymose Lei-Lei is Hsien-Ko's original name in the Japanese version of the game. Her sister is Lin-Lin.

@baby Maharaja technically the Jiangshi has many different types in Chinese mythology, Hsien-Ko herself is a reanimated Zombie in a sense do to the nature of her powers BUT, normal Jiangshi are Zombies AND vampires they are a hybrid of the 2 as they are undead zombies possess a spirit in a way and don't feed on blood but sometimes flesh or spiritual essence
@baby Maharaja So a Jiangshi is both a vampire and a zombie in Chinese mythology or folklore in American lore however we would consider them spirits or straight-up zombies because we don't have many hybrid monsters in our folktales

Hsien-ko is neither vampire or zombie, she's a jiang-shi, which literally means hopping corpse in chinese. However, she's not technically dead and her status as a jiang-shi was brought on by a curse. No one really knows what she is, including herself, but a jiang-shi is the best term for her since nothing else really fits.
Hsien-Ko is herself and we should all be ourselves too.

I've gotta say, I've really grown to like Hsien-Ko in UMVC3 lately. It's true she has a weird play style, and she is very weak, but she's honestly just a fun character to use in my opinion. And her projectile move is very good at keeping people away.
In Project X Zone, Frank West and her are such a fun unit :3

Here's a hint: We're all from a fighting game like Street Fighter. So of course the majority of us don't get along well.
- Morrigan fights purely for enjoyment and fun. She also thinks you're cute, as she said when she kicked your ass in this game!
- I, Lord Raptor killed the Darkstalkers to gain power and rule the world.
- Victor is on a pointless quest to win attention from his doctor.
- Hsien Ko went for revenge on the monsters who attacked her village (especially Demitri).
List goes on.
She also makes a good assist, O personally love Senpu Bu, it leaves foes open for further combos!

I'm elated that she actually managed to get in this game, seeing as she's my VS main. She'll definitely be on all of my teams because of her general utility (Pendulum assist looks nice) and her mixup potential. Her Gong now acting like her ES version is great too, except for the fact that the motion is now a reverse SRK. The only damper is that the people over at SRK say that she's going to take some more team support than other characters.
Before I know morrigan I knew Hsien Ko and damn, she was like my goddess. Love her.

Your right. It's like playing Utsuho in Hisoutensoku. Utsuho is slow, but has a ton of powerfull moves for combos. However, she also has a few moves to get going, despite her speed. Hsien-Ko does this with her chain slash move, "Houten Geki", was it?
@xionblades She's actually an unorthodox character with jumps and surprise attacks. Every time you use her Gong Special, it opens more combo attacks to end with her Swinging Pendulum. It's even stronger when her talisman is off her head and she turns gold -- think Makoto in RED or YUN/YANG in their Custom Combo modes and you got Hsien-Ko with massive damage output. HI-YAH!

+Barbe Yes, she is...she's practically BASED on Street FIghter's Chun-Li and, although Chun-Li is more of a kicker, Xiaoyu is more of a puncher...her palm-striking combos utilise arm-swinging, which make her strikes usually connected as she leans into each strike, and are disastrous when well-connected, and she has flashy Super-combos...if you type in searches like Xiaoyu vs. Chun-Li you can see the comparisons in the way the creators animate basic punches and kicks, aside from the way their costumes (qipaos) and hairstyles look...they both use a lot of Tai Chi in their strikes, making for beauty and grace in their fighting...Chun-Li is older, so of course she can beat Xiaoyu in reality, but Xiaoyu CAN hold her own very well against her peers and others who may be older but underestimate her... Without quotation marks you can type: 'XIaoyu vs. Chun-Li', 'Xiaoyu vs. Lili' (Lili is British, taunting with her opponents (as snobby-rich kids are), equally talented as Xiaoyu, and is gymnastic with flashy Super-combos), and 'Street Fighter X Tekken Versus Team Ling Xiaoyu & Chun-Li VS Julia & Cammy' and you'll get Xiaoyu in action... As for Asamiya, she sounds Japanese, but her Psychic and Telepatic powers make her an incredible combatant: 'Athena Asamiya vs. Mai Shiranui', 'Athena Asamiya combo' (and check some videos).

She's actually a Jiang Shi (knowledge, courtesy of SuperLegendOff364, a few comments below). Jiang Shi are basically Chinese zombie-vampires that feed off of life essence instead of blood, and move around by hopping.

- Reduced startup of her crouching medium.
- Jump attacks cause less float.
- Rantetsu can chain into Edoga.
- Untechable time from Edoga has been increased.
- The variety of items that can be thrown during Anki Hou has been increased..
- Tenrai Ha is her mashable hyper.

Yes, that move does get you around quick. However, your opponent can still use an advancing guard to push you back or certain characters can use projectiles to keep you at bay. Viewtiful Joe is also weak to advancing guard and he has a low amount of health; but he has a lock-on move, very good in mid-air, fast, can slow down the opponent, can easily dodge ome attacks (UMvC3 only), and is good at cancelling hyper combos.
I prefer yo use Hsien Ko as an assist, I'll admit that she's good at that.

Even though i never played any of the darkstalker games (really want to), a Chinese blade wielding projectile reflecting zombie is freaking awesome.

Her gameplay is different from other characters, her speed is not her strongest suit, she makes good assists and I play her defensively... those claws are very handy from incoming attacks, and don't forget the magic gong!

@zekromism She's a jiang si. It's like a zombie, except it's body's completely stiff, making them have to hop to move. They don't eat flesh, like other zombies. They're just there.

@zekromism Actually, zombie, but then again resurrection was definately repeated in tales throughout the civilizations. So vampires had influence because it had to do with people fearing the dead who "spoke", to only realize in forensics today that it was only gases escaping through the mouth and causing a "voice"; the growing nails were not growing but rather the fingers were decaying AROUND the nails, revealing them to be a little longer, but certainly not growing....
So maybe zombie?
