    David, your channel has been a great help in my work as a sports photographer. I'm about to upgrade, and I have doubts between the r6 and the r7, mostly because of the price. For a little more money I can buy the r6. What can you recommend? My work focuses a lot on soccer, but I don't want to close the doors to other styles. I also like the video a lot

      Hey Carlos. I don't like to influence people to pick one camera over another, but I was in a similar situation on one of my previous upgrades and made a video about it at the time. th-cam.com/video/A0aogFyEOXU/w-d-xo.html
      Hopefully that helps. As for this channel, I've stopped uploading videos a few months ago and don't expect to return any time soon. In any case, thank you for the kind comments about the channel.

    R5 doesn't have 2 SD cards, it has 1 SD and 1 CF Express card.

      You're right John, thanks for the correction.

    The R3 is quite literally all the camera you need. I was very very tempted to trade my R6 ii and 1DX ii in for a good condition used R3, but I couldn’t quite make the finances work. I’ve settled for knowing which sports work with the ES and which to shoot with the mechanical. Ie anything with a ball is mechanical shutter, anything without is electronic. That’s what I do anyway. 🤷

      Yeah the R3 would be a dream no doubt, but it’s way out of my league financially speaking.

      @@MLeeMedia While a lot cheaper than new, the used price is quite reasonable for what you're getting.. but agreed, the cost is still too high to make it a good investment. I think when the R1 hits the shelves a few R3s will end up on the used market for under 4K... The only downsides for me with the R6ii are the fps (15 would be better than 20) and the rolling shutter effects. Other than that its every bit as good as R3. I shot two days at the All England Taekwando championships weekend before last and used the ES only. I was blown away by the eye tracking AF and the image quality. Its like the camera was made for sports like this.

      The eye tracking is a game changer for sure, love it.

      I could really tell the difference. The other shooters were using 1DX generation bodies and had to pick a focus point (centre) and use it. I could compose my shots so easily by the camera picking up the eyes of the competitor facing me and just sticking to it. Focus wasn’t perfect, it did hunt a bit and pick out people in the crowd a few times but it was still vastly superior to my 1DX ii.

    David I assume you have 2 Canon R1's ordered

    • @stubones
      @stubones ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a bold assumption, that he has about £14k lying around to buy two cameras he doesn’t need 😒

      Can’t even get one R3 😂

    the r7 and r8 were both launched at the same price. they both dont have battery grips. i would recommend the r8 over the r7. it uses the sensor of the r6ii therefore the 40fps has minimal rolling shutter also theres the first curtain shutter which i believe provides less rolling shutter. the r8 also has the advantage less noise and video specs. its full frame. in no way would i recommend the r7 over r8 and i believe the r7 is overpriced. ive used the r10 which uses the same battery for a whole sporting game with over 3000 images.

    You left the classic R. I use that and an R5, so I can tell you, you can use the classic R for sports too. Ok, it is not the fastest one, but you can get away with that.

      Yeah I did mention I left some models out. Any camera can be used for sports, some are more limited than others ✌️
