Just started my shire challenge today! Im hoping to get all 5 medals plus the 3 medals for aragorns journey this year, for my fitness goal. Wish me luck 😊
I'm REALLY over virtuals but I have to say, the setup with the Middle Earth map and all is really neat, and I agree - it looks like they've really put in the work to make this worthwhile and not just ordering a medal online, like a lot of them feel. This seems like something that would really be worth doing, and with all due respect to Lady Galadriel and your personal quest, something that would be a great accountability challenge to do with a friend or two, so I can appreciate that element of it as well. Also a great thing to be able to do while listening to Tolkein audio books! :-)
I have discovered the Conqueror Challenges last week. At first, I was a little dubious about that facebook ad. But then I clicked on the link to find out more.... Nah, not for m...wait a minute? what's the worst that can happen? I get a motivating training partner/ app / community and a medal for training (not yet got the medal, though). Okay, let's give it a go. I am on my first challenge now: Mount Fuji (I live in Japan, I wanted something local). So far, the app is great, sometimes buggy, a little slow with the map and I haven't worked out how to zoom out passed a certain level. The best thing is that you can customize your recorded activities. Personally, I only want my running session to be taken into account. You can set that up easily. If you want everything that your fitness tracker tracks (namely steps); you can set it up too. So far, I am very happy to have signed up for the first challenge. Omg. I have been thinking about doing it for a bit now. Seeing it in more detail and your excitement has me signing up. I am a big LOTR fan even played the RPG (role playing game online) for many years. Also, adds that extra sparkle to get those miles in during training.
Yes, I have done 2 challenges... the Camino de Santiago (in France/Spain) and St. Francis Way (in Italy). I really enjoyed them. There was many a day when simply knowing I was working on the Challenge helped me get out there and do the jog. Great resources for the Challenges. I highly approve. I'm currently doing an across America challenge with a different company. But, when I'm done, I'm thinking the LOTR one would be a great one to do. 🙂
They really are amazing, and as of today, I've started the last stage of LOTR -- Mordor. It's 286 miles, but with Dopey training, I'm pretty sure I'll make it through quickly 😂
I got the medal within the week! Due to the high volume of training I'm currently doing, I'm now in the fourth stage of the LOTR Challenge, and have received the first three medals already.
