In this video, we will be recovering data from a refurbed memory card, that instead of a traditional chip was using Sandisk SD card via NAND protocol. This is a common scenario for no-name cards to use monolithic devices for NAND storage. The Sandisk SD card probably failed quality control and was later sold to the "refurb manufactures" that use anything they can get their hand on for storage. It goes without saying that the reliability of such memory cards is very much nonexistent. If you use a no-name card for anything that would not be working loosing, do yourself a favor, and switch to a proper card before it is too late. With help of the PC3000 flash and spider board adapter, we were able to establish a connection with the NAND. Reading the NAND, error correction, and block arrangement had to lead us to nearly flawless recovery.

Hello from toronto! Love the vids. I am very curious, how did you learn software pc-3000 and in general how did you get your understanding of how a computer interfaces with the nand controller and how the controller does with the nand? It's become one of my fav parts of the vids but you fly through it like a pro :)

Question for you, instead of using the erector set to make contacts, why not use a header soldered to the pcb and then have the erector set connect to that? it would be easier and faster to connect. not to mention putting the points in the middle of the header connections gives it two points of contact not one.

The spider board looks cool too, I imagine it's useful for pinout discovery too. Does PC-3000 provide any tools to automatically determine the pinout using it?
