I absolutely love our team, its players and our coaching staff. This is what KY basketball is really about. Playing to win, playing for the fans and for the university. This team is special and will definitely surprise a lot of people. Can't wait to see every game we play. Is definitely going to be a fun ride along the way. The ultimate goal is to have a run and hang banner #9. If the team continues to grow and get better every game then believe they'll have their chance. Go Cats, BBN forever 💙🏀😺🏆
Imagine you’re defending this offense and you’re closing out - you don’t know if he’s gonna shoot it, pass, or put it on the floor. The great thing without all the dribbling is you are in the triple threat, ready to make a play and the defense is reacting to you instead of you reacting to the defense. Great stuff
i believe it's the same type of offense that UConn runs or similar, UConn may shoot less 3pt. For some reason these types of offense are not common in college basketball only the NBA. Pope just needs the guys, which i think he has this year.
What i liked was seeing a prese thst was used to actually stop the ball instead of just speed up the game! It blows my mind that uk hadnt had an attacking defense in 15 years. This is the key to this years success. If we can get the identity as a physical defense that presses. That bumps and bangs and pressures the ball. Its a step towards a tourney run.
This team meshed way better than I thought they would in their first matchup against a different opponent. They looked like the veteran team that they are. I’m sure the shot making might not be on THIS level every game. But if it is or even close. WATCH OUT College Basketball. #CatsAreBack
Why are ppl constantly speaking negativity into our shooting. Saying their gonna have games where they go 6-30. Screw that! Heres the point. If this team was gonna be a competitive team with a chance to be tough. Then this is what was supposed to happen..
You can say the platoon system is stupid or dumb all you want. But didn’t UK almost go undefeated running it? This team with its speed can check in fresh bodies consistently without missing a beat shooting and run people to death.
Exactly. I don’t see the aversion that people have to it. The biggest issue with platoon is keeping people happy. I think Pope will do a better job of that. I don’t think we will run platoons, but you will see most players average between 15 and 25 minutes per game. We will use our depth to wear teams out.
And it hurt uk in the long run cause other coaches were telling what recruits come to their school? Other than Kentucky? Because if you go to kentucky, he will be just another guy not getting that much time. UK lost a good few because of that. Pope will just be able to sub randomly to keep legs up.
@@indigomarine91 yeah but I don’t see Pope recruiting the same way Cal did. Cal was solely recruiting with the promise of NBA. Kids done it for exposure. Pope has said it himself. He does go after the most talented kids. But the most talented inside his system. And we lost out on kids because Duke and other started to go more in on one and done kids. It wasn’t just the platoon system. I mean look at Booker. He was a kid no one thought would have been a one and done kid. He done amazing in the platoon system became a one and done. You you look at pope throughout the history. He does not play kids over 30 minutes. The most he plays kids is 28 or 29 minutes a game.

The failure of developing as well as other colleges jumping in the one and done game. Sponsorships like shoe companies drawing kids to other schools.
I’m afraid of being like Alabama a few years ago when all they would do is shoot tons of threes and they won a lot… but they also shot themselves out of games due to missing alot. We can’t afford to go 6/35 from 3

I love the unselfishness and how they moved the ball around. Decent defense, unlike last year.
It was my favorite part! I love the ball movement, blind passes.
@@robinh8416 I think that they will be much better than they are getting credit for.
Trent is gonna be better than anyone thinks. He's built for the game.
The passing was elite.
It will only get better, what's these experienced guys learning to play with each other, by February they will be a greased up machine.
It’s amazing to me that the Cats scored 123 points, and their leading scorer only had 19 points…….

Perry never would play under cal!

They will have an off shooting night. But that looks like 10/30 at worst.
This teams defense can help overcome shooting slumps
This is a championship contender period
the 71 is crazy but honestly KWC is a D2 college correct?

An UK still getting 5stars!!
The last staff was just lazy. The head coach was the laziest of all. He wanted to just recruit wins.
I mean a freshmen ridden coach cal team would have been clunky and unprepared. Definitely would not have won by 71.
But will get clobbered against Minnesota State,,
Coach Pope beats Kentucky Wesleyan. Coach Cal beats number 1 team. You got the hogs talking about hanging a banner this year.
