      Allan Watts was the Hugh Grant of the American University Lecture circuit, floppy hair, and, a massive alcohol problem. Being nihilistic and being very priveleged with a plummy accent is all he had.
      He went Stateside because if he'd stayed in the UK he would have had to get a actual job, as we see right thru home grown parasites.
      Alcoholism always makes people maudlin and self pitying and very very very verbose.
      The Universe was created from meaning, refusing meaning is the act of a devout coward.

    The man was the greatest western philosopher of the 20th century. He opened western minds to the east. One cannot over-exaggerate his contribution to humanity. Articulate, brilliant, gifted, Alan Watts was the voice of sanity in a world gone mad. He still is. He was not a perfect man as the commenters have noted. Good luck waiting for one of those.

    Life has no meaning in the world. But with nature, it has all the meaning of life. ❤

    • @atiphwyne5609
      @atiphwyne5609 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a contradiction in terms nature has all the meaning in life, then since it is a part of the world, then life has to have meaning in the world.
      This type of sophistry was a speciality of Alan Watts I hope that you can see the fallacy in the statement, you cannot have it both ways; life having no meaning in the world but nature which is part of that world having meaning. The statement is meaningless read like that.

    • @deemisquadis9437
      @deemisquadis9437 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@atiphwyne5609 nature and mother Earth is not of the world and worldly things. Your man made world, doesn't have much to do with nature. We are a part of Mother Earth, not the world. When you can walk away from the world and worldly things. And understand that we are a part of earth, then you will know the meaning of your life. From dust to dust. We come from mother Earth, not the man made world of lies and desires that destroy our souls. I see this may be beyond your understanding.

    • @atiphwyne5609
      @atiphwyne5609 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @deemisquadis9437 Pray tell where do you think mother earth came from? Did it create itself? Or are you the Creator?
      It is very easy to move from the literal meaning of words to the metaphorical meaning in order to escape the formative contradiction that your statement trapped you in. However, that is neither here nor there now.
      Once you honestly answer the questions of whence the source of 'mother earth' and yourself, then we can get somewhere.
      Oh, and let us keep the disrespectful patronising comments out of our discussion otherwise it simply becomes abusive. I expect better from a mature woman of some years.

    • @atiphwyne5609
      @atiphwyne5609 ปีที่แล้ว

      @DrumWild There is something that we agree on. Any God that needs rest is not worth the name.
      There is no proof for God to the one who needs to ask for it.
      In fact, the opposite proof should be sought. What is your proof that there is no God? No scientist, nor any philosopher who denies God has a plausible explanation for the Universe, The Big Bang and evolution are processes where did the matter spring form that these remarkably fortuitous processes were given an opportunity to work on? In other words, why is there something instead of nothing?
      Either 'you' created this universe and yourself or it created itself or an uncreated Creator did. What is the most likely out of these scenarios?
      It is not possible that it (the universe) popped into existence from nothing into an infinitesimal infinitely dense point from which exploded outwards at least 2 trillion known galaxies. Is that a 'point' that we could agree on? Perhaps we can then find common ground. However, no God/Allah but an immense universe most of which we cannot see ( far outnumbering the 2 trillion galaxies that we can see ) due to it expanding faster than the speed of light is an absurdity.

    life exists in it's own right beyond meaning. If a flower exists in the forest and no one sees it, does it have any value (beyond us)? it is still a miraculous playful and spontaneous expression of life in it's own right. It is the highest "complement" and freedom to ourselves and others to let everyone and everything be the life and isness that they are, without trying to ask, what value do they have to me, or what purpose do they have, or to disect it''s practical functions. I think we ourselves are more alive, and experience the alivness and miracle of all things when we don't put things in a mental box.

    There is clearly no intrinsic or inherent meaning or purpose to nature and so in human life. It is incumbent on the individual to find and pursue that which is meaningful and purposeful for that individual. We are finite beings with finite time in which to exist: therefore one ought to do that which one finds meaningful and purposeful and this will naturally vary from one person to another. I think it is meant to think deeper into it. While doing what we want, we may thrive if we have respectable morals and virtues. So with that, things like building shelter, growing food, taking care of eachother and ourselves, would all be things we want to do and enjoy doing. In order to live a life that where we get to do whatever we want and enjoy it, we must learn AND teach the power of good moral and virtue. There are steps to take before living, and ensuring that nobody walks the steps alone:)

    Once I surrendered after feeling of complete despair..! To the extend of ending it all in 2012., I'm sure a lot us have been down this path.. the true warrior attitude and dedication I gave to my career., I was now going to give to myself. Without a care for losing all I had worked for.
    Trying to plaster debts by puppeteer exercising of law advice bureaus visits and solicitors, took time away from me, as these exercises are meant to. So I stopped interacting on calls and engagement of senseless followings. I told the debtors, if they want their money for bills or whatever, take my house, my car whatever they want; I’m not playing your game anymore.!!!
    I shut myself away from the world that I knew’ in 2016.., and was made homeless in Aug 2018.
    I was a high flyer with so much drive on succeeding and meeting and overachieving my corporate career targets..! Proven record of reaching over the peak results that made myself and my teams shine.. with majority of my staff development leading them towards senior jobs..
    I had a sudden realisation., on how far I'd come in my life.. and I felt.. having experienced the poorty and violence whilst living in India and Kenya., then to experience UK., I decided to let go of luxuries that kept me bound in a web of trap (so fast) that kept me suppressed from ever allowing myself to express., and feel my own pain.!!! For once..!
    I let go of my career and used that drive to go within and allow every painful emotions to surface..! With some, that felt like, even Death 💀 could have been sweeter., as I couldn't even breath..!
    All I kept wondering is., why, how, how could they..! Seeing and experiencing the ignorance of some people., before the anger could rise..! I could see.. the lessons I was to learn from them.. how I could have spoken my truth.., instead of mostly giving my power away..!
    As I began to see., how they were only portraying behaviours of their own insecurities, fears, their knowledge and entrapment from society and cultural barriers..!
    It is true..! I believe.. that there is a capacity within each of us.. to be a murderer, rapists.. etc., its which one we give our energy to., that makes us., our ability to decide can only come from our previous experiences., that we've brushed under the carpet.. the previous pain is the one that would trigger our current reactions.. ❤️‍🩹♾️☯️
