I know what it’s like to fall for your straight best friend, but still have him accept you and be your friend after you confess. 7 years later and we are still BFFs. And yeah. He’s still straight, which is fine with me.

Sometimes this happens because the actors don't want to do gay series. It all depends on the table reading and what the writers put into the show.. it should have been Zack and Alex.. but I guess production wise.. they had to many actors and they needed areas to work on.. that is why you didn't get them together..
It's breaks my heart how season 4 ended up for Zack He was such a good person I loved his character and he deserved much more than the ending he got - drunk and mentally broken😭

Because I have watched whole lot of gay couples who wont end up togther or have a sad ending it has been like a guilty pleasure for me I want to see happy couples but sad ones are the ones with the great endings
I disagree that Zalex should have been a thing. I think far too often, this type of pairing is misunderstood, and never gets proper representation in tv/film: the "pairing" being a gay/straight best friend relationship. I think the show actually depicted what can happen between ANY pair of best friends, in terms of the crush Alex developed on Zach, but ultimately they find their way back to being besties. This very scenario played out in my own life some years ago, long before the show first aired, so I for one was happy to see art imitating life in such an underrepresented, nuanced relationship between two guys of differing orientations. Not everyone is gay, and not everyone a gay man has a thing for, should become a romantic relationship. I dare say that the constant oversimplification of this dynamic, and defaulting to the position that they should be a couple, in fact hurts the LGBTQ+ community because it puts forward the notion that every gay man wants to get into a straight man's pants, and worse yet, a straight man he's befriended. While I have no doubt that some gay men befriend straight guys for this very reason or motive, but it is not true in all cases. Two guys of differing orientations can have a perfectly healthy, deep-bonded, and platonic friendship... I live this reality everyday.
