Having some background in structural integration and now studying hoofcare, this webinar was phenomenal to watch! Thank you Wendy for putting all of these webinars together and being so generous with good info.
Isn't the trot the gait of choice when herd animals migrate? Less expenditure of energy and conservation of calories over long distances. Thank you for another wonderful info packed webinar.
@@surefootequine come to think of it, so do buffalo. Walk and gallop. In equines there seems to be a relationship with regularity of the footfalls and relaxation. I have heard it said that horses can almost sleep while at the trot during migration. This seems to happen even when working a horse at liberty or on a longe line. I was warned about this by a mentor and that I needed to "change it up a little" and not to stay at the same speed or gait in order to keep the horse from falling into the rhythm that would put them to sleep (zone out). On the other hand, in dressage, rhythm and regularity of footfalls is highly desirable because it helps the horse relax and become more supple so that the the rider can better express the best of their natural gaits. There are a lot of current studies about how asymmetrical gaits evolved. The pleasure and excitement about your webinar series is, there is no end to the learning; one subject always stimulates curiosity to watch another and to also do their own research. Thank you.
A lot of times people will think the toe is long, when in fact it is short because the whole back of the foot has been trimmed out , creating an illusion of a long toe... these videos can be so frustrating at times as I realize how ingrained the false teaching is. Thank goodness for the horses sake there are Sure Foot pads and awesome bodyworkers !

Brilliant as always, thank you Wendy!
You are so welcome!

I am not sure that's true of all herd animals. Wildebeest canter as they migrate. :)
