Pretty cool! My mame cabinet runs off a Raspberry Pi. I was using tbose cheap encoder boards off Amazon, but just recently replaced them both with Brook boards. However, getting the itch to pick up one of tbese and try it out, since someone recommended it to me not to long ago. May do that for the next mame project.
Did you have any issues with it being recognized as a keyboard? I was trying to setup my controller with an iPac Ultimate yesterday and while it works beautifully in Windows testing with notepad, as soon I setup the first button in RetroPie, it stops working. I do wonder if maybe it has to do with how I actually have the controller programmed out of the box, so I'll definitely change the programming. I was also thinking of using Xbox mode.
I actually want my ipac to be recognized as a keyboard. There is an issue with certain keys not working in MAME or being mapped to other functions, such as the P key is for pause or S is for start so you can't use those.
Im bangin my head against the table lol Can you try and give me a hand on setting up a ipac2 controller with an rasberry pi w/ retropie on it. I have wired everything up and now only joystick works no buttons?
@@bossrobotgames at the top right hand corner it says "Board FW Version 1.44 Keyboard-only Firmware and at the bottom center in red it says "Board is in Keyboard Mode". Every tutorial I see does not show this. I am basically at the beginning of this and clueless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@@vegasmike5300 I never ran into that problem. Can you still change the key inputs with the drop down menus? If you can I wouldn't worry too much about the difference. There is a forum post here where the guy says he contacted ultimarc and they said he had an older link for the winipac software. This post doesn't make very much sense to me. It sounds like it is time to contact ultimarc and send them a picture of your screen.forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=160213.0 Here is the link I used to download winipac. www.ultimarc.com/control-interfaces/i-pacs/i-pac2/?selected_section=product_tab_25#product_tab_25
I'm pretty sure it is possible if using USB mouse, I'm not sure which ultimarc boards allow two mouse inputs. You can use two computer mice for shooter games and a trackball is recognized in MAME as a mouse. You have to create a mame.ini file and then there should be a couple of options to change in that file to enable multimouse, and enable the mouse as an input.
This is way over my head... Just started to build a arcade cab that will have 2 player setup with a trackball and a spinner. Are there any encoders with just a tons of inputs for each buttons and joysticks without this programing stuff?
You're already where you need to be. The programming is so the computer can read the raw inputs from the board. Without a way to program the inputs, these devices are useless.

Does the windows utility actually reprogram the board? Or does it run alongside a windows based game system?
That winIPAC program reprograms the board. The ipac will work on windows or android like the raspberry pi.
where do you get the arcade buttons that have the rgb
I got them here, and used the IL/suzo happ clear button.

Is there an option to program rapid fire toggle on/off?
You can create macro's within the software. You create marco, example.....a,a,a,a,a then you assign that macro into 1 button of your choice.
This work for jpac?
I never had one of those but the ultimarc website says it's fully programmable so I think it will.
