I have an Industrial Storage container with a dimensional depot placed on top and a Mk3. Lift to feed from container to depot. Saved it as a blueprint on my hotbar. Super easy and practical
Personally am using my dimensional depot to facilitate items that are far away. Like my plastics and oil into the depot. Then pull it into my inventory by the source container for the factory stuff. Useful before setting up trucks, trains, and drones.
Doc You're amazing ! I love your gameplay series, thanks for the upload A little tips about the dimentional depot : You don't need to put any ingots in or raw ressources, since it isn't useful for any constructions You can stack them on storage containers to save space and just connect it with a small elevator An issue you'll run in is that when you deconstruct your inventory will fill up with stuff, and since the depot are automatically filling up you won't be able to upload most of it back ; You can turn on the option to take from your inventory first while constructing(in your inventory tab top left) to mitigate the problem but as a good pemanent solution i'll recommend setting up some awesome sink fed by storage chests at key points in your worlds to dump everything you have on you at any time ! Hope this can help in any shape or form
Just realized something about the dimensional depot. You can also use it to see if your output rate of specific items works by taking out a few every now and then. If it fills up still, it means you are still outputting enough to make a difference. If not, you need to check on specific factories and see whats wrong. So it doubles both as dimension storage but also an overview of wether or not your factory went kaputt xD Also, hiya Doc. Just discovered your channel via a short I tbh didnt even expect. Love the vibes you give and the informative commentary! Keep up the good work man!
My problem with the dimensional storage is there is no way to deconstruct to the storage, so you can potentially fill up on deconstructed materials. Fortunately, they help mitigate this by offering the option to build from inventory first, but especially if you have depots automatically receiving materials, it can be difficult to downsize and cut out the chaff.
most of the time that wont work anyway. it might be nice to put the ressources directly into the upload slots, but these storages tend to be filled VEEERY quickly. so the ressources don't even have space in the first place. you also cant upload them instantly, cuz that would mean that you circumvent the whole upload process, which is absolutely necessary from a gameplay perspective. if that delay wasnt there, it would essentially just expand your inventory without any costs for usage. in the end the way it works right now is perfect from my pov. i cant think of anything that would actually bottomline improve the dimensional storage.
oh and this feature is also single handedly saving the game for me. there is tons of pointlessly tedious stuff in the game. but inventory management was THE WORST.
After a few vanilla/normal new/fresh starts pre v1.0 - I also did the same. And then when v1.0 came about - I knew I could push through those first few "boring" hours/tiers. So I started from scratch - albeit on "personal dedicated server" (which meant landing/intro is skipped). And even those initial boring/laborious tiers - well stuff like biofuel burners finally having input meant there's much less "Oh let me run back to base to manually feed those things" And in case someone still doesn't know - find/collect a few sommersloop's ;) And you'll basically never hand produce anything. Even for ad-hoc stuff "just 50 of something to unlock tier X" - you'll plop down constructor/assembler/manufacturer, and put sommersloop in it.
BABE WAKE UP NEW DOC UPLOAD

I personally avoid putting ingot or ore in them. Since I don't need it for construction
Such a clean factory, i loved it
Might be fun to leave a comment - or put in the description - how old the world is (in hours) for each video!
You guys are so organized!
Interesting idea, thanks!
Subbed to you, thanks to your Shorts!
Same same

woud be nice if u coud make blueprint of it

@@ffh6795 oh definitely, it is as good as it gets right now, it is just the only nit I can pick
I had build cost turned off until coal power to avoid early game burn out

thats a good idea for those who get burnt out quick
Same here 😅 I've also use turn on unlimited power to not have to bothered about collect leaves until coal.
