I recommend staying in the French Quarter. It can be noisy but not to bad if you stay in one of the better hotels. Why not stay in the action? Great channel Bob!
Great vlog! I haven’t been to Nawleans since college (almost 20 years ago). Only went to Bourbon Street to party and missed out on a lot of historic places. Probably time to revisit the city and enjoy it from a more mature stage in my life.
I actually found staying inside the French Quarter mighty interesting. We walked around Bourbon Street and cruise through the jazz and blues bars as well as close to Cafe Du Monde. The streetcars are very convenient. Commander's , Brennan's, K-Paul's are pretty good restaurants too. Nice visit of the plantation estates and the Tobasco factory. I did not have a chance to visit them due to time limit. Overall, New Orleans was safe for us. I guess you just need to know what to avoid. I walked around French Quarter at around 11 at night by myself more than once... It was okay... May be it is not Mardi Gras time...
I love in NOLA! I want to let you know that the Bloody Mary in Le Meridien is the best I have ever had so far, and I don't know why. Their "kitchen sink" mixture is the best in my opinion.
