  • The St. Louis area can expect a lot of cicadas in Spring 2024, but likely not the “cicada-apocolypse” some have predicted. Living St. Louis producer Brooke Butler speaks with Erin Shank of the Missouri Department of Conservation about Brood XIX's emergence in our region.

Last night I let my dog out to potty and opened the back door to a scene straight out of my nightmares. Cicadas, mid metamorphosis, EVERYWHERE! And this morning, the sound of their wings flapping has me practically given me ptsd. I have never in my life seen that many cicadas before and live in a heavily wooded area in Georgia.
