- In the video, it's about the first attempts and working on the route 'Sleeping Lion,' which Chris Sharma bolted and made the first ascent of last year. For this, Alex Megos traveled to Siurana and checked out the route for a few days. Eventually, he successfully climbed it, securing the second ascent. This video focuses on his initial impressions. A video of his ascent will be coming soon. Thank you for watching. If you don't like the video quality, complaints are pointless. Chris had better things to do than filming this trip since he also climbs, and that was more important to him. Instead, Marco Zanone hung in the rope and captured some awesome shots, which will be shared soon.

Alex looks so comfortable on these holds, angle, etc and looked stronger than anyone else on it. His mobility at this angle really is on point.

I think he may be the best crimper out there right now. I still think the strongest overall would be Schubert though.
I mean he has climbed a number of 9a routes first go. Only ondra is on that level. Sets them smart from the other beasts out there
video quality is always a banger even if it is filmed on a nokia with no camera! idk if it is just me but as a viewer I am always happy to see the videos no matter what, I think it is great to get such insight into the climbing and training of my favorite professional climber.

When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister went climbing at our local gym. So there i am, sitting on the couch in the gym with my niece, and who walks in but Alex himself. I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him as he was warming up, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Alex, but she wouldn't stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He gave her a fist bump and started asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Alex put down his chalk bag, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of the climbing gym. Chill guy, really nice about it.

Dam it sucks the hold broke. Respect to Chris for coming out to repair it. It's crazy that the hold didn't break when it hit the ground?
It did break in about 8 pieces or so. I found the biggest 4 and Chris pieced then together on the ground before gluing the hold back

I like the way you assign grades by comparing the days it takes to climb similar grades...I have no idea what these grades are (alien stuff) but, shouldn't you "update" the day count over the years as you are getting better and better? So, still 9b+ for the awakened Lion King Sharma? :) :) :)
Took almost as may sessions as BIG so it might be just a strong strong climb

What is your best advise to progressing in climbing
Climbing
Do a lot of climbing, build up your grades! For example; if you’re goal is 8a, do a but load of 7a’s, 7b’s, 7c’s on different styles. So at the end you have a nice pyramid you can build on. In between you can do some training to get a bit stronger or more technical or whatever. But really, to climb hard is just to climb a LOT!

Ist halt schwierig: was früher das schlagen von griffen bei uns in der Pfalz war und später das unterzementieren oder fixieren von Freds Routen ( aka Leistenbruch am burghalder) war, ist halt ein schönheitsproblem beim klettern. Ich mag mich nicht dran gewöhnen, aber kann es auch nicht verurteilen, das steht niemandem zu! Ich wollte es nur erwähnen dass ich Nachts schlafen kann😂. Ansonsten weiter so! Ich mag deine Art!
