  • At GearFest UK, we caught up with Anthony to discuss the PVAD, a portable Variable Acoustics Device. Designed to function as both a low-frequency sound absorber and mid- to high-frequency diffuser, the PVAD leverages the Helmholtz principle for sound absorption. Its unique construction includes sheet metal insulation to improve absorption efficiency and convex shapes that diffuse sound from 630 Hz upwards. Tested to ISO standards at both the University of Salford and Soundhub in Denmark, the PVAD offers versatile acoustic treatment solutions.

I really cant see how this is going to help at all, every room has different geometry and size which means modes are going to shift across a massive range, its massively overpriced too... for £1000 you can build your own simple diffusors that a specifcaly targeting the problems in the room. theres free calculators online to work out what patterns needs to be built too including what frequencies you might have trouble with by entering your room size. The port at the front to me look too short, i build subwoofer enclosures constantly, im glad he was honest and said it would only being active above 80hz, but this means you miss out the very common 70ish hz room mode. Problems really need to be addressed in the low freqencies, everything else can be achieved with a little eq as the modes usualy are not that dramatic as they are below 80hz.
To me this is a bit of a con job, theres probably less than £100 worth of materials and all the R&D costs he could have found online fo free!
I think his nervous performance pretty much explained his product...

@@DJUPLIFT I'd say his nervousness is a combo of being English and not everyone being comfortable on camera for a channel with close to a quarter million subscribers.

@stoatystoat174 being English? What's his nationality got to do with his capability to be a snake charmer?

@@DJUPLIFT There are better ways to deal with your feeling of unproductiveness, trying leveling the playing field by dismissing others' creations is not effective in the long term. You are not alone.
