Took the Mongo into South American rain forrest last summer and that thing is indestructible. It's now my carry on bag when I travel just about anywhere. I also have the Versipack Jumbo EDC as my everyday bag and am very pleased. Extremely versatile. Not cheap but in terms of quality is head and shoulders above the competition.
I got the Fatboy and the Colossus myself. Extremeply happy with them. The Fatboy is my EDC (or my "man bag" as my fiancee keeps calling it) and the Colossus is my "in the car"-bag, holding tools, knives, calories, water and first aid stuff.
Great bag, use mine for range bag, diaper bag, Disney bag, hunting bag. Perfect size to hold laptops, iPads, multiple pistols/ammo, the max jumbo was to small for me but this one was just right, thanks Sootch for the great videos. Long live the Republic!
I have a Mongo, I traveled 3 days by train from LA to TX, and It worked very well, I never had to worry abt losing my belongings, it fit tight to my body, so there was no chance of sticky fingers, Even when I cat napped at Union Station, and didn't have to set it on the dirty floor while traveling. Lots of room for girly things. I love it and have bought abt 5 different bags from Maxpedition, Thanks Sootch for the extra discount, however I would of paid full price, I like it that much.
Love the Maxpedition Jumbo that I have used for over 3 years! Thought of getting the Mongo back then and many times I wished I had. The Jumbo has all the same features with less main compartment space. Well worth the investment. When asked what it is, I say it's my Tactical Man Bag, followed by my Dirty Harry look. No one ever asks that question twice..
Great bag. I added a Janus extension pocket to mine. Lets the bag hang a little lower and it is great for adding extra easy to reach gear like a cell phone.
Nice to see a review of a bag that actually has footage of it being reviewed. I hate reviews that are purely tabletop and don't show it in use. Great job Sootch!
I love my S-type Mongo. My netbook fits perfectly in the rear CCW pocket. It was my first Maxpedition bag. I've been known to wear it in addition to my Vulture II and my Malaga Gearslinger (in front) at the same time. Of course when I do that people think I'm ready to jump out of a plane. Thanks for the great reviews.
Don't balk at the price of Maxpedition, they are well worth it ! I put off buying one for a long time - now I have a LOT of Maxpedition items. They are that good.
Great review of this pack. Haven't owned any Maxpedition gear, but the closeups on the stitching and discussion about the coating of the cordura have me sold. Looks like a really well thought out piece of gear.
i love the way you show at first how the bag is carried before doing the actual review of the features. because features are nice but comfort and ease of carry is also very important. a bag can have all the pockets and organizers but if you can't carry it right, specially for long travels and everyday use then it isn't worth buying it. thanks!
I've got the jumbo, the Sitka, and the Fatboy. The only problem is having enough flashlights and multi-tools to keep each one stocked individually, LOL. I like them all but all I wanted from the start was a mongo or mombo, LOL. I guess I'll have to start saving again and maybe get this one too. thx for the video Sootchman.
Sooch, excellent video as usual. I watched this as well as your Maxpedition Versapack video (that was awhile back) and ultimately decided on an EDC Jumbo Versapack, which will become my, well, EDC. I can definitely see picking up one of these Mongos as a GHB after I become familiar with my new EDC, as I expect that the familiarity with the EDC will carry over to the Mongo, and be one less stress-point in a stressful situation. VERY useful video.
Love my Mongo S. Been using it as my EDC for about 2 years and it looks good as new... even after two lay-downs on the Harley and sliding directly on the bag. One interesting thing I found when using it out in the woods: That hole up by the strap that leads into the CCW compartment - I can velcro the sheath of my Buck Hoodlum in the compartment and insert the knife through that hole with the pommel sticking out for easy access that doesn't necessitate having a 16" knife banging against my leg.
It's a very nice man purse, but I'm looking for something a bit slimmer. I open carry with no attention drawn to the gun, but I think this would definitely draw some attention. Looks like it would be great for an extra bug out bag in case someone hadn't prepared and they plan on you carrying the team.
I just ordered an s-type today! It was 30% off for their labor day weekend sale and the SOOTCH discount code still took, so I got a full 40% off in all! All in all I got it for 115$ including shipping. The sale was only for the s-type version in foliage green but I'm a lefty so I prefer the s-type anyway and foliage was my 2nd color choice after OD so lucky me!
"Mongo like candy....." Great bag. I have the Colossus with med and small Rollypoly. It's my edc/get home bag. It worked great on a trip to Disney as a camerabag. Kept it on the entire week and it wore and packed great. Even on a nasty misty day nt never got soggy. Great tough bags.I did get it from your buds @ goinggear.
Thanks Sootch for the great review on the Mongo. Been tryingto decide on what EDC bag to get for a while now. I think this is the one. I am also looking for a good one to use as a dedicated survival kit bag that doesn't interfere with a backpack, any suggestions
Looks like a great bag. I still like my Proteus for its size in the truck. The Mongo would be perfect in the back of the truck. Keep these great videos comming Sootch!!
great looking bag I know its point is not to be a laptop transporter but Ive got a 13" macbook would you say i could bit in the pocket where you had your pistol, thanks for the great videos
nice bag sootch. i own the sitka gear slinger and ive had it for almost two years and not one stitch is loose. what kind of watch is that your wearing? ive seen you wear many watches through out the years ive been watching your vids and just was wondering what you prefer. thanks
Look at all those cool stuffs that aren't available where I live :/ except for RIA, they like make it here LOL! but still, look at all those awesome stuff.
I've been using the proteus versipack with a shoulder strap (which really screams man purse😂) but i kinda wish I had gotten something larger like that.
Sootch, great review, Can you tell us how long this 9:31 video took to make, as I'm watching it and looking at all the different camera angles, the numerous setting up of the tripod and all the editing it must take awhile. I appreciate all the work it takes to make these vids.
MrRich, you got a great bag at a decent price. If you can find a comparable bag that's made in the USA, it'll probably cost twice as much. On the other hand, there are plenty of knockoffs (e.g. UTG) for a lot less, but the're made in China. In any case, regardless of where a piece of gear is made, it's the quality that counts. I think Maxpedition gear is expensive, but like everything else, you get what you pay for. By the way, I'm in no way connected to Maxpedition. I just like their stuff.
To all of you saying this is a man purse, and that youd laugh at someone with it. You're really fooling no one about your manhood if you're concerned about an item tarnishing it.
We got this one kid, Mongo... He's got a forehead like a drive-in movie theatre, but he's a good ship. So we don't bust his chops too much. So, one day Mongo gets out of his cage... Well, it's just an enclosure...
Sootch, How do think this bag would work for a woman? I currently am using the Jumbo EDC. The Mongo looks a lot larger, and I was wondering how it might look as an everyday go to the mall, grocery store bag. Do you think it would bee too big as just an "ordinary" bag? Thx
So, how far along did you get into the review before you realized you Mombo'd the review? Def one of the funniest end-of-reveiw blooper reels we all wait until the end for!
Dammit, Sootch! Always making me want to buy stuff... These people better be paying you or at least be giving you some products. I'm sure you help sell a lot for them.
Sootch, great review on the Mongo. I just purchased it off the Mazpedition web site and I used your coupon code but....... sadly it was still about $25.00 more expensive that AMAZON even with the code. I did it so that any mfg defects could be easier to resolve. The site did not have many things in stock. Maxpedition seems to abuse the shipping charges in addition to the higher prices. Hope they can fix this Oscar

Maxpedition products are quite literally the highest quality packs and pouches that money can buy.
I got the Fatboy and the Colossus myself. Extremeply happy with them. The Fatboy is my EDC (or my "man bag" as my fiancee keeps calling it) and the Colossus is my "in the car"-bag, holding tools, knives, calories, water and first aid stuff.

Nice review - I would also like to see them add a grab handle strap to this one like they have on the Jumbo versipacks.
Love my Mongo S. Been using it as my EDC for about 2 years and it looks good as new... even after two lay-downs on the Harley and sliding directly on the bag.

I highly recommend Maxpedition gear -- it has never let me down! -- Other than the highly addictive element of always wanting more!
Love these bags. Never have failed me, keeps shit dry. Hidden gun holster is smooth.
12.5

thanks for the heads up on the bag, bought one on your say so... you where right on
I've got a few Maxpedition products on your recommendation, love all of'em! Thanks S00ch.
Maxpedition always has well thoughtout products.
the mongo is 120.00 on amazon. the rapdom t311 tactical messenger bag is 65.00 dollars, and better in many ways
Well done Sootch!! Love the Maxpedition reviews keep em' coming...
Regards from Australia:)

Love this bag. I have it as one of my bug out bags
"Mongo only pawn... in game of life." Great review Sootch. Would have liked to have seen your face when you realized you'd been calling it the Mombo.
Thanks Sootch for the great review on the Mongo. Been tryingto decide on what EDC bag to get for a while now. I think this is the one. I am also looking for a good one to use as a dedicated survival kit bag that doesn't interfere with a backpack, any suggestions
Couldn't help but notice the taclite pros what an awesome pair of pants, although I bet sootch's are a little wider than mine, ha!
That is a nice bag! Huge but nice. Great review.
Looks like a great bag. I still like my Proteus for its size in the truck. The Mongo would be perfect in the back of the truck. Keep these great videos comming Sootch!!

Sootch, is the Liberty Bottle double wall or single wall?
Sootch, which would you prefer as an edc bag? The Mongo or the Monsoon? I live in an suburban/urban area.
That's a nice pack. On an unrelated topic though, could you tell me what kind of watch you're wearing?
I love your scenario clips hahaha
Very good video, used a Sabercat in A-stan for a grab bag and the quality is very good. Regards from Sweden.
nice bag sootch. i own the sitka gear slinger and ive had it for almost two years and not one stitch is loose. what kind of watch is that your wearing? ive seen you wear many watches through out the years ive been watching your vids and just was wondering what you prefer. thanks
Sootch, why do you like asymmetrical-carry bags so much?
Look at all those cool stuffs that aren't available where I live :/
except for RIA, they like make it here LOL! but still, look at all those awesome stuff.
Sootch, great review. I just ordered one. I think this may be my range bag solution.
Have one of these and LOVE IT!
Fantastic Review!
By there way on the small pouch, is it big enough for a pair of sunglasses and is that a WILEY X sunglasses?
don, does this come with the color gray?
I've been using the proteus versipack with a shoulder strap (which really screams man purse😂) but i kinda wish I had gotten something larger like that.
you should see if you can get a rain fly for your generator
Good job Sooch!
Stephen
Superb review...great editing...thanks so much!

Great review sir. What flavor gum? Just curious. :)
Very cool
To all of you saying this is a man purse, and that youd laugh at someone with it.
You're really fooling no one about your manhood if you're concerned about an item tarnishing it.
What pack do you like/use these days?(about this size-ish)
We got this one kid, Mongo... He's got a forehead like a drive-in movie theatre, but he's a good ship. So we don't bust his chops too much. So, one day Mongo gets out of his cage... Well, it's just an enclosure...
Subscribed, buying one today. Neat vids, man.
You have the best videos
Keep em coming!!
can the water bottle carry a nesting cup with 32oz bottle?
Would love to have this bag for my very own but hubby says no more purses!!
Is there anything similar to this that is made in the US?
Thanks for saving me 10% (Sootch00), just ordered one.
Sootch,
How do think this bag would work for a woman? I currently am using the Jumbo EDC. The Mongo looks a lot larger, and I was wondering how it might look as an everyday go to the mall, grocery store bag. Do you think it would bee too big as just an "ordinary" bag?
Thx
This is a man bag. You're looking at the wrong shit.
sablebush if you like something this big go for it
Every Man needs a Purse like this!
The Mombo is a great bag, but can it dance?
another great review!
You're the best- Mondo lol! Appreciate your hard work on these reviews! PS Thanks for the discount
So, how far along did you get into the review before you realized you Mombo'd the review? Def one of the funniest end-of-reveiw blooper reels we all wait until the end for!
Expecting another Baby...I may use this for a diaper bag! When the baby gets older, it will be my new range bag.
WOW AMAZING

"There's so many ways you can use this bag"... Isn't that a feature in common with any other bag:)?
Lol. I love good out takes.

C Thee Pretty sure this is a Khaki/ with foliage green trim.
Just seen that Awesome!!!

How in the world does that thing not have a grab handle?!?!
Love it
Просто приятно иногда посмотреть такие видио )))
do you think i could fit my 11 inch laptop in there?
Can you put a canteen in that water bottle pouch instead? I can give you a link for the canteen I have in mind.
I was just being a bit ironic, I wouldn't have taken the time to see the review if it were of no interest to me of course:). Well done as usual
good job sooch
