You know why I love watching them technically "replaying" Overcooked 1's levels is that most of the strategies they come up with for each level is different than the ones they came up with years ago. You can also see the growth they have gained throughout playing a lot of Overcooked levels. Props to all of you, Stumpt Gamers!
I think the secret to 5-4 is to have each side start cooking their stuff when the burners are on the bottom of their island (so left cooks rice and beef, right cooks chicken), so that when it comes back around to the top, it should be ready to take off and then the other side can start cooking their stuff. Left should always have the two pots, whereas pans will need to be passed back and forth as needed. Then right uses the middle to pass tortillas (loaded with cooked chicken when necessary) so that left can then put the rice (and beef if needed) on and serve it. Plates, of course, should always stay on the left side.
Stumpt on Episode 1 - "We're crushing it! Literally the best Overcooked team ever. This is EASY. We're easily getting 1000 more points than we need for 3 stars." Stumpt on Episode 6 - *curled up in the fetal position, rocking back and forth and quietly sobbing*
I can understand why someone might think you lacked teamwork, but in reality what you were missing was a strategy. Back when Stumpt didn't know how Overcooked worked, everyone kinda just did what they wanted (which worked on lower lvls). As it becomes harder, any OC group needs to analyze the level design and assign roles: which someone did in Stumpt back in OC1! As soon as someone explains the whole thing to the group, the teamwork can flourish (5-5). If no one figures it out, the group struggles (5-4).
Oh yeah, I've watched them do this for 5 years now! Some of the best teamwork around! Especially if you watch their series on Shattered Skies (a part of a larger minecraft series they were/have been doing, so watch Stumptlandia first if you're interested) they all have their own roles they fit into in order to meet different goals, because they all have different interests that cover a different part of the mods they use. I go back occasionally to see some of the funnier ones just cause.
In the lava level, use a plate to pick the rice from the pot. That way, you can keep the pot on the burner, and cook rice continuously. This is kinda imp. since you only have 3 burners.
Something that should not be overlooked: I noticed one difference with your original playthrough is that the devs added several accommodations for colourblind players. Good on them!
Love it! Also, observe at 5:00, when you put an item on the burner before it becomes inaccessible at the left island, by the time it becomes available, it has become fully cooked. Not sure if that would help much if you guys try this level again in the future tho.
I think everyone is good at different things. When there's maps where you can move players between sides, you should take advantage of that. Ash has been the MVP's of dishes and plating, but doesn't do well with multi-tasking. Rik does best when chopping and running dishes. He also keeps track of dishes and their order to go out. Price has better counter movement for raw resources and doing 2 different things in regular rotation. Jas has a good eye on upcoming orders, and hanging tasks.
Swedish chef is a free dlc. The two blank chefs are the meatball monster and the unbread. They are unlocked by completing the 1 and 2 campaigns respectfully.
hey stumpt, I know you hate backseat gaming but maybe just a hot tip for the lava level (5-4) consider moving the pots and pans around more, even when it not fully done. so you have more control when it will end up in the middle. love all of your content btw ❤️ 😉

Can you guys try 4 star again i saw one from like 2 years ago and i feel like you guys could do it but your strategy was a bit flawed the way i did it was bring the ingredients to the plate not plate to ingredients which takes longer
So much stress this gives me watching. It’s great once the rhythm is found but leading up to it. I’m like the girl from Remember the Titans when she’s like come on! And just nit picking at everything. Don’t get me wrong I love to watch but the mistakes give me stress but that’s how you learn I guess lol.

In 5-5 you just send the pots down and fill them and send back, no need for this massive load/unload
