If you want to try one of Korea's Best Maesil - we recommend Hong Sang Ri. Her product is amazing! More info here: gochujar.com/products/hong-ssang-ri-maesil-cheong-plum-extract-syrup
I've made this recipe a few times now and I absolutely love them! They never last more than a day or two before they are all gone. I have already used up my first bottle of Maesil making these. Do you think it would be okay to reuse the Maesil for another batch? I feel so bad wasting it!
Hi Daniel, I tried some marinated cherry tomatoes in a Taiwanese restaurant that had side dishes with their meals and I think it must be similar to this recipe. I’m not a tomato type of person, but those tomatoes were bursting with so much flavour that I’ve been looking all over for it since then. I’m gonna give it a try to yours.
Taiwanese Plum-flavored Pickled Tomatoes use dried salted plums (available at Chinese grocery stores or Chinese herbal stores) as main ingredient. There’re many recipes on TH-cam but mostly without English subtitles. Here is one I found that has English subtitles th-cam.com/video/G6Y1UkwIGX4/w-d-xo.html
I am definitely going to try this. I have a lot in my garden right now and I am quite sick of tomato omelette every morning. For how long do you think these will keep in the fridge because I am thinking of making some as gifts?
i dont really like cherry tomatoes, do you think i could still enjoy it? i like pickled foods like kimchi and radish! but sweet things.. not so much but curious about it~~~
Hi Daniel...What is the heating of the jar for? Is it just to sanitize the jar? Because it doesnt have to be a hot or warm jar when you fill it right? Thank you
I'm in the UK and no matter where I try, I can't source maesil. Is there any alternative or a way of making it myself that'll be close enough to be similar? Can't get it online or in any of the Asian supermarkets dotted around the area and I desperately want to try this! 🤤
Yes, maesil is a by-product of fermenting ripe green plums. So I'm sure there is trace amounts left. Maesil has a mixture of plum, slightly sweet and tangy flavor. I love it!

Really good made with Seville orange, too. Just use a long strip of the zest though, otherwise the maesil gets bitter
I love your excitement about the food ♥️
this looks soo good! Love your channel so much! Daniel and Katie thanks for your content!
Always look forward to your videos! Highlight of my week. Can't wait to try this!!!
I love the recipe so much - thank you! I would to know if I can reuse the plum extact over and over again?
I’m buying the plum syrup tomorrow, so I can make it. Thanks for the recipe! 😋👍
Looks awesome! Is there anything you can make with the left over liquid after you eat all the tomatoes?
Make more tomatoes ?
I had a single pickled tomato today in Hakone open air museum restaurant, not sure if it was this... it was like tomato flavour, but an explosion.
I am definitely going to try this. I have a lot in my garden right now and I am quite sick of tomato omelette every morning.

Good question. Normally, Katie and I finish it within 3-4 days... so I would say within a week?
Just watching these videos makes me hungry😭😂
Very good food!
Hi. Can the maesil (with rosemary and lemon) be used again? Wonder if i could add another batch of cherry tomatoes .
i dont really like cherry tomatoes, do you think i could still enjoy it? i like pickled foods like kimchi and radish! but sweet things.. not so much but curious about it~~~

Thank you
Hi Chili! Yes, its to sterilize the jar - in case you want to keep in the refrigerator for longer.
Is it necessary to use sterilized mason jars? What would prevent me from using a tupperware container or the like?

I got it on Amazon but I'm not sure if it's available in UK from them.
Does it have any alcoholic content - the plum extract? And how does it taste after 2 days - was it too sour? 😊
