This is such a "COOL" song - so "Lay Back" - The Beatles loved this song. The production for its day on this song is "Amazing". The voice portrays such a distinctive sound. WOW - SO good.
I agree with you. Shirley Alston Reeves walking over to center stage in this video was more Queen than the Queen of England Elizabeth II in her 70 years as Queen of England. What a magnificent and superb stage presence. I love The Shirelles.
@@paulobrandi7300 The ladies in the video are NOT the Shirelles. That is not Shirley Alston in the video. Fans of the Shirelles know that those ladies are not the Shirelles.
this is from a video for Mamma said... it was a film made for a different thing.. so these girls are not actually the Shirelles, but its been made very well,,,
That makes sense. Because I love a later video of them doing this song and they are superb, but the lead singer in that video looks nothing like the one in this video. Now I know why. Thanks again.
if you can find Mama said.. same video... it was made as a short film for human rights,, it containns black people being arrested etc,,... in the 60's,, very poignant @@Daisnap
@@paulridley-thomas1371 th-cam.com/video/FxJNn30TCK8/w-d-xo.html Thanks - I replied separately. Interesting. Here is a link to the later video of Shirelles doing Baby It's You. Hopefully the link will be clickable. So fabulous - Her smile, her voice, and how she uses it! So subtle, nuanced and beautiful.
The Shirelles have done better, "foolish little girl" for example, but this is kinda okay. The Beatles did a cover of this on their 1962 Veejay release that wasn't bad. Smith knocked it out of the park in 1969....
RIP to the songwriter Burt Bacharach.
... it's the "shaa-la-laas" that make the song! An Ultimate top 10 tune in Heaven & Eternity!

I like both this version and The Beatles' version. Both were great!❤😂
she had such a delicate and a powerful voice in one song. the background harmony was legendary
Delicate and powerful! Yes, so true. Both qualities make this music magic.
she had a perfect voice ,just amazing
The essence of early 60s girl group music! Very classy ladies
Absolutely classy
that organ sound is unforgettable ,the memories here makes me cry ,she sings it so well , Shirley Owens had unforgettable voice .
I think it’s called a Farfisa Organ? Very unique sound!
Just amazing and technology allows us to enjoy it as if it was 1961
Another masterpiece by Burt a once in a lifetime songwriter who knew what raw innocence was in music
Love this song because it’s you
Will you still love me tomorrow is their classic for me.
60 years old !! So soulful, classic !!!

@mauricewascom658 yes...my home girls.
What? The Supremes had alot of their hits IN the '60s and they remained through the late '70s!
You just can’t show her sultry yet elegant walk over to center stage enough! ❤️

Brilliant
Well I think this is the greatest song by girl group ever in the history of.
For sure it has a powerful spirit unforgettable
Gee..teens teens dancing cheek to cheek!!

That's the Shirelles voices, but not them in this video.

Little known fact: that's Burt Bacharach singing 'sha-la-la' in the background.

Do me a favour. Both were class acts.

Mm
The women are perfect but I think the camera person is drunk.

I tried to cover it, although I am not very good at it.

Valeu a tentativa, parabens!
Doesn't look like the Shirelles.
The Beatles grabó "Baby it's you" en 1963
