As someone who started playing the game on the day release of the original eng version it’s so cool to see how far this game has come and developed, even to the point of a mobile game for it. As someone who also missed the early G era feel and nostalgia to the game I’m glad that we finally can relive the time.
Me and my friends bought the gears, neo, Kagero, and royals in middle school after watching the anime. This just brings back so much nostalgia. Like the music is making me so nostalgic for g.
Ahaha I also remember the time when I was in jr high, Vanguard just aired and funny thing, the series characters grew up the same time as I, so when the character was in Highschool I was also in Highschool etc. so Vanguard always have a special place within me, blaster blade and dragonic overlord is always fun, but g thavas came out and you know everything in g I was like shit I’m too poor for this, so I only have 8 decks? But stopped after reboot tho since you know
Started with G at around the Gear clan booster, also started with Gear Chronicle. I was impatient and couldn't wait the 2-3 months on global, so I got JP Vanguard Zero and now I'm having fun with only 1 Chronojet.
My first Sneak Peek and any exposure to the Vanguard was G Set 1, night before the Sneak peek my friends took me to get a Trial Deck and that was Altmile. Fell in love with the game that next day, havent stopped playing sense. Can't wait to play Altmile in Zero.
Please don’t remind me of that, it makes me sad to see that my avatar Blaster Joker is already done and over with and we still haven’t gotten him yet! 😢😢 I feel like Bushiroad is showing too much favoritism to their local players and just ignoring their international buyers. Konami’s been decent about providing TCG exclusive card/archetypes/products and English voices for any games with voices. With Bushiroad, the only TCG exclusive things we have gotten are the Revival Collections (and those are just reprints of random cards and MAYBE 1 or 2 originally OCG exclusive cards) and a few other sets that also just release originally OCG exclusive cards. OCG, meanwhile, has gotten more video games, The Mask Collection, Estranger (that one, I understand them not bringing over), a non Legion rare BBS, a movie, and even live action tv shows! I’m sorry for the long comment, it just irks me seeing this clear and obvious favoritism and no obvious signs of change!
@@willnack5315 there is no favoritisum here. Vanguard is made and then translated into global version. All JP card games are much bettr in japan cause they don't have deal with overseas bs, it's far more costly to make products outside of japan and vanguard is vey small, there will be no suprise if global shuts down due to playerbase being small as hell.
While I wouldn't say G Era was the start of Vanguard for me, it was my gateway to competitive Vanguard where instead of playing the meta decks, I played what I loved in G being Ahsha and Battle Sisters. So, I'm very hyped for this era in Zero and much excited for the next set coming next month.
I love how the new G0 triggers make some decks easier to build while still being playable. Obtaining GR's are still a pain though, persona-flip Strides should have been strictly RRR only.
Awesome video!! I really liked your idea of suggesting cards for people who aren't opening 4 boxes, since I was already planning to open only 2 boxes when the set comes to global. Keep up the awesome content!!
Gears was where I started IRL and feels good seeing them here. Might pick them up in Zero even if I don't pick them up IRL again. Early Gears was respectable for sure. I love those feelings you get playing them.
Honestly it's kinda sad how much they disrespected Gear Chronicle's descendants in the D-era, they were supposed to be the heroes and villains of Cray, and now they were reduced to a bunch of cheerleaders for some Football playing demons instead of getting an archaetype of their own 🥲
I don’t remember the exact timeframe where I first started, but I do remember that season 1 of the original Cardfight Vanguard series was on Hulu back then, so I was curious about the game. It was still during the G Next Era, and my first deck was the Blaster Legend Deck. I think Luard and Shiranui were out at the time, too. Still, I was interested in the Gear Chronicle Clan, but I never got it because people stopped playing Vanguard at my school. I didn’t get back into the game until Zero was doing the rerun of the Asia Circuit. Then I picked up the Chronojet Trial Deck, and now I’m back in the Vanguard community, here to stay! Thanks for the great videos, DifferentFight! Can’t wait until Global gets to the G update!
I actually started at the release of gbt 11, and started by buying the gear chronicle trial deck. I was give the choice between building time leap or ztb which started becoming a thing. Mistakes were made as I picked time leap, but I nvr really regretted it. It was a fun time for me, picked up so many g decks like blademaster, gavrail, ahsha. Can't wait to get them in zero.
60 FPS cause looking at you is great and seeing your reactions; and started end of Legion break 4 and stayed and loved G series but drop when G series ended.
I started really early with Giraffa as my first deck however I only played for a few sets then I started back with G where I fell in love with Chronojet and Gears all together!
I started playing VG right at the start but, I properly got competitive and started really building decks when G started. Next to break ride its defo one of my favorites. Waiting for the chaos of time leap thou 😈. Looking forward to Amon's Eyes, chronofang, and vanquisher
I started with a Leon starter deck and 5 of the seal dragon booster where I pulled a sp blockade inferno. So I put the AF deck on hold and built Sealed Dragons
I had Aichi's and Kai's started deck for the longest time and was following the anime but never knew there was a community. It was just when I showed Vanguard to my then bf that he showed interest as well and when we decided to get him a deck I found out that there was a community here. I started with Altmile, which I hated at first but grew upon on me as I continued playing with him At the end of G, he was still my main deck To this day I still have like 9 Premium decks, even though Premium is pretty much dead here
I officially started vg with G. Found the anime way back in 2012, but as I was just 13 at the time, I have no money and no idea on where to get the cards. Until 2015, I finally found a place that sells the td and booster packs, and officially started my vg journey with thavas trial deck, and keep playing till now.
One of my friends was so into Gear, so much that i actually learn every combo of the deck xD, but the deck i started playing Vanguard was Messiah, i'm still waiting for the big boss (8
Man, playing ZERO ladder nowadays is so fun and intense with all the plays you can make now. I’m always at the edge of my seat with each game 😅. I never played G at all in the TCG, so I look forward to how the game evolves over time. Btw, for my gears list, I took out the crits for G3s after a while because I liked putting stuff back into deck more and having more stride fodder that isn’t my grade 2s or 1s late game.
Good day to the people at global looking at this vid as a reference! I'd just like to pitch in some developments to the deck 2 months after this got released, as taken from JP players: The starter can be Timepiece, as it can clutch you a Jet if you don't have Steam Breath in hand. It's less prone to spins compared to Gunner, who turned out to be online too late. You can try Maki (the onplace SC) over Mesh-he so you have soul for costs. This deck is VERY soul-intensive and can run out of steam quick. G2s are very flexible apart from 4 Glimmer. Ishin goes up in stonks if you run into a lot of selective interaction like Blademaster and mirrors. You can run some more Puzur-Ilis to choke their guards at 5. Your G3s can be anything, but try cutting Heart Thump to 1, replacing them with Ruin or Fate Wheel. Effect crits are okay only when checked defensively or in hand. We still need the Draws to not run out of gas. Faterider is mega stonks so add more if you have them. Feel free to try these out!
I started when the game started, but took a hiatus during Legion cos i was living overseas. Came back at around Thavas set and never stopped since then.
I got into vanguard when limit break came out and I stop in g only because of my friends moved away but I wanted to play in the g era so bad I’m happy I get to experience it now
Well, wasn't PLANNING on building Gears when this came out, but ended up deciding to drop my gems on Set 1 to have a deck for when Chrono is a boosted skin. And honestly? Been pretty fun! Only going for two Ragnaclock, but otherwise I have everything the deck really needs. Only difference is I actually run the grade 1 Soul Charge instead of Gigi since the deck seems to use a lot of soul already.
I agree G is the best Zero gameplay has ever been, however the timer is starting to really bother me. Especially when playing Altmile, I need to figure out my whole turn before choosing what to stride! There’s not enough time!!
I started in G i played some legion with my best friend but I definitely got more into it in G and it’s still my favorite era and I’m so excited for g in global
I started really early like I'm pretty sure Limit Break released during the time I originally played so it had to have been 2011 or so. I haven't played in a number of years but I'm planning on making a handful of different things once I get around to making a deck again, Ramiel Reverse for Angels and Himiko Reverse have been the most fun in my limited sim testing but I like pretty much everything I've tried so far
i was first exposed to vanguard during the link joker era, but i only got serious about playing the tcg during the g era. having seen how both formats were i was intrested by the different play styles of different clans
i startet in BT06 but for me G is the best era of vanguard so many deck every box feels exited my best memories of locals tournaments are from G beating hordes of time leap players with nightrose really good times
G era is also my favorite as well! Mostly because of the anime, I never really played the card game until zero. Side note- Imagine when zeroth dragons come to the game!!
I started near end of G like 2-3 months before Divine dragon apocrypha and my first box from newest set that released got a Full art Minerva sadly it was a split box with a friend so we sold her. But I always loved looking at the older cards and wondering what the game was like before I got into so really loving Zero to get a sorta glimmer of what it was like.
I started way back during the Break Ride era but G is definitely my favourite era. Gear Chronicle and Blademaster was my early G deck until Gavrail came. I still keep my Gavrail deck even though I don't play it anymore. Can't wait for it to be in Zero 👌
Funny enough the first deck I was introduced with was Gears. An old Friend bought both the Messiah & Gears trial decks, let me play with Gears and let me keep it afterwords. Never looked back since then.
I stopped at legion when i got seekers in the tcg. So striding is really a new experience for me. Then I got back to vanguard with V during the gavrail era and then now here in overdress thinking of maining flagburg.
Actually I started playing vanguard w my narukami trial deck(the one that got release with aichi’s gold paladin garmore deck) but the card that I really like is blaster blade at that time, and it is so hard to get blaster blade at that time so I started with my narukami’s deck. But G is like the most hype and G is really fun for me.
I started the TCG at the very end of G. At this point the game was pretty much dead in my area, so I didn’t get to experience it much. Mostly just G trial deck fights with my siblings. Although I really got into the game when V came out since it renewed interest in my area and it haven’t stopped since
I started with Neo Nectatrwhich was also difficult since it was within G but man do I absolutely love it and found everything so enjoyable. I really hope they take events off entirely too since they are annoyingly terrible.
I can't wait for this set. I need my Gears. I'm gonna be saving up every single gem I can once the tower event ends. Also, seeing they kept the same Legion rule in Zero for Stride rule too...I wonder how the TCG would be like if they brought the same rule over? (the whole "if going first, can only Legion/Stride turn 4 onward, and if going second, can Legion/Stride turn 3 onward)
Luard is my first trial deck and I had fun when I played that deck. But I can't play it now since I'm busy with school, so Zero is my another alternative to play that deck again. I think Luard will come really long enough, so maybe Gear will be my friend in G era later.
based on the new tower event style thing for clan events im really hoping all of great natures support is one of those events, so far ive figured out its prolly gonna look like: managarmr gr crayon tiger rrr bigbelly rrr cc pg rr it'll be so much fun i cant wait
I literally start vg tcg using Gears, i bought the ZTB deck that time in Dubai during my work, since only 2 td were available in that cardshop currently (ZTB and Luard, i choose ZTB only because it has red color on it lol) Sadly, when i came back to my country, theres no community in my hometown, so i dont play it, then last year VG0 came out in global, i try to convince my friends to play it, so we play it, then because its not quite f2p friendly (unlike Shadowverse that time) most of us stop playing, but we love it actually So then during the end of last year, we try to print cards on our own xD then we play cards during G era, and of course i happily play my ZTB, finally And now we have a little community in my hometown and we play all of the format Then just few months ago i came back to VG0, since i know the game is getting better, and now i just wait for the Gears Oh my, this is a long story lmao I really miss ZTB, looking forward for them to come to zero
G is seriously the era which hooked most players in Vanguard...,I Seriously Can't wait Shadows-- (Claret Sword Dragon & Aurageyser Doomed Stride to Come..)🔥🔥
To answer your question, I started in the LB era, which I think around the same time as you, cause I think you mentioned in a previous era that you started I think during S3 when Raging Form was released... that was around the time I entered for reals first deck was Raging Form. Specifically my entry was around a few days before the Ren vs Suiko episode was released for JP.
MEEEE!!! I HAVE STARTED DURING G-SEREIS AND LOVE CRHONOJET!!! I could've started with Altmeile actually but after seeing the anime decided to play gears cause "main protagonist" stuff.
honestly for me i am really liking the way G revamps a lot of the games though early on for Ranked based on what i have seen it will be a lot of Kagero and Gears so for warning might want to prep for retire and bouncing back to deck
I watched the anime and the first deck i had was overlord legend deck then my friend gave me gears which i used in a tournament and thats where i discovered the arca loop with huang long hahaha and i got to the top 4
But i started playing Vanguard back in the AC season and i mained a SP Deck and a DP deck and i started watching the anime shortly after i got into the game and yeah LJ and LM were my favorite but G made a lot of decks a lot better adding in Stride
Answering the video's question: I played some OG series, but I had to break from Set 10 to G set 2, so G is more of a return to form from the oddball zone of Breakride and Legion. Favorite era of VG. ...That said, I've completely dropped Zero until Bushi makes G more F2P friendly, I'm not dealing with needing 4 box resets for Olyvia and probably Twinkle Happiness Pacifica, lmao. I'll be enjoying your VGZero content still, cuz at least the gameplay is good!
If you're on Global, I suggest to keep grinding. Global usually makes things more f2p friendly for their version of the game, plus those cards are still a long time away.
@@jvsolas6023 Part of the reason I'm breaking is cuz I already have everything I want. Finished BT playsets, 1k RRR mats, and 400k gems. If this isn't enough prep for G, then I'm good lul.
@@strawberrygrapes1999 if you had actually paid attention to the game you would find that "crying" actually helps a lot!!! Just look at how the neo nectar exchange event clan system was made a bit better in global because of all the JP outcry, and how the pale moon nerfs were overall handled because how people "cried" about it lol. Hell global even got the guaranteed chara fight drops as opposed to jp. So yeah, "crying" about stuff actually works if within reason and the G being too costly right now is absolutely fair complaint to make 😀
@@corgipuss7468 creation stones can be converted to universal mats (don't remember the conversion rate but it needs a lot of creation stones). Plus, gems means you can open boxes. You don't even to play rank to earn gems as long as you do most of your dailies.
I started around 2 weeks before G Set 1 dropped. I feel a lot of people who started at the begining of G did the same as me and my friends and quit yugioh as we hated Pendulums and Qliphort format and looked around for other card games.
Feels so nice to have all 24 clans in ZERO now

We got glimmer breath in set 2 I’m pretty sure great video btw
Luard is my first trial deck and I had fun when I played that deck. But I can't play it now since I'm busy with school, so Zero is my another alternative to play that deck again. I think Luard will come really long enough, so maybe Gear will be my friend in G era later.
I started playing when season 2 was still airing. First clan was gold paladins.
Ah yes, G era... I"m so exited for my avatar, Thavasss
based on the new tower event style thing for clan events im really hoping all of great natures support is one of those events, so far ive figured out its prolly gonna look like:
managarmr gr
crayon tiger rrr
bigbelly rrr
cc pg rr
it'll be so much fun i cant wait
I literally start vg tcg using Gears, i bought the ZTB deck that time in Dubai during my work, since only 2 td were available in that cardshop currently (ZTB and Luard, i choose ZTB only because it has red color on it lol)
Sadly, when i came back to my country, theres no community in my hometown, so i dont play it, then last year VG0 came out in global, i try to convince my friends to play it, so we play it, then because its not quite f2p friendly (unlike Shadowverse that time) most of us stop playing, but we love it actually
So then during the end of last year, we try to print cards on our own xD then we play cards during G era, and of course i happily play my ZTB, finally
And now we have a little community in my hometown and we play all of the format
Then just few months ago i came back to VG0, since i know the game is getting better, and now i just wait for the Gears
Oh my, this is a long story lmao
I really miss ZTB, looking forward for them to come to zero
G is seriously the era which hooked most players in Vanguard...,I Seriously Can't wait Shadows-- (Claret Sword Dragon & Aurageyser Doomed Stride to Come..)🔥🔥
I started watching vanguard from the beginning but the actual first deck I bought was the g gear chronicle trial deck
I started in BT04 Japanese release actually haha, so just a bit before the English version of the game started
@@DifferentFight oh really, that's so neat.

Thank you for the insight on the clan/build. Really helpful!
MEEEE!!! I HAVE STARTED DURING G-SEREIS AND LOVE CRHONOJET!!! I could've started with Altmeile actually but after seeing the anime decided to play gears cause "main protagonist" stuff.
can't wait for THE X deck and fight
I've been here since the start, but really only started taking the game seriously in G.
I started with Gear Chronicle because I pulled Chronos Comand on my very first pack
honestly for me i am really liking the way G revamps a lot of the games though early on for Ranked based on what i have seen it will be a lot of Kagero and Gears so for warning might want to prep for retire and bouncing back to deck
That second game was CHOU EXCITING
I'm pretty new to zero ish but I'm waiting for the g era update to come to the global version. I can't wait to build my gear chronicle deck :)
Yeah dude same goes for me. But it' doesn't look so strong mostly it can only send one card at bottom
My friend had me start with V since that was the latest and has me watch G after that
I find it funny that chrono says isekai in his catch ride phrase for chronojet dragon
He says "sekai" which means "world"
@@DifferentFight oh I heard isekai
Answering the video's question: I played some OG series, but I had to break from Set 10 to G set 2, so G is more of a return to form from the oddball zone of Breakride and Legion. Favorite era of VG.
...That said, I've completely dropped Zero until Bushi makes G more F2P friendly, I'm not dealing with needing 4 box resets for Olyvia and probably Twinkle Happiness Pacifica, lmao. I'll be enjoying your VGZero content still, cuz at least the gameplay is good!
If you're on Global, I suggest to keep grinding. Global usually makes things more f2p friendly for their version of the game, plus those cards are still a long time away.
crying won’t help you lol
I'm looking forward to the altmile deck and fight
I started with g the anime got me into the game.
New animations and BGMs are really nice. Now we just need playmats and the game will reach peak beauty 👌

You can make a highlight reel of time mystery flare skill procs that would be dope
Damn, DF didn't stop talking in the 2nd match... I was trying so hard to follow what he was saying 🤣🤣🤣
Well, the hype's real!!!
I started around 2 weeks before G Set 1 dropped. I feel a lot of people who started at the begining of G did the same as me and my friends and quit yugioh as we hated Pendulums and Qliphort format and looked around for other card games.
Lmao yup this is a mood, I also quit YGO during XYZ release when Vanguard started
I started the game rn with G and tbh my main rn is Link Joker and Gear Chronicles 😂 when lucc is on my side during the gacha roles kek
omg i can't wait for this to come global
YESSSSSSSSSSS… wait did you do the granblue deck&fight?
I've started witb g aswell
I’m dodging set 21 and starting to stock up gems 💎
