I really, really miss these bigger maps. They had so much charm. Newer Maps are all just standard platforms in a different skin and some background. Even though it has been a long time, i still remember the paths around Maple Island. The big maps around Ellinia, the construction sites around Kerning etc, etc. Nowadays theres nothing really to remember. Each Map looks basically the same with different mobs. Limina for example. I cant really remember different or specific maps, only the general look. Its just so, so sad, because it feels so loveless. Big F4
I wonder if the KPQ is functioning. The KPQ > LPQ > OPQ pipeline is where I spent like all my time on, along with beating people up in Omok while waiting.
The long grind really shows that what people miss is not old maplestory, but the childhood, before social media when maplestory WAS our social media, nostalgia, and the community.
It's the old sociability of maplestory, where you were so bored by just grinding in the same map for hours that you'd talk to anyone who showed up. made a lot of friends that way lol.
Dont forget the boat rides. Or waiting for PQs. Everything was so much slower than nowadays. But thats how i, and so many other players, met a lot of friends
I’d say it’s a little bit of both. The game being much simpler and having imperfections helped make the game all the more charming. The time I reached level 30 for the first time was awesome and overall I think the game had more of a focus on yourself finding things fulfilling rather than the game being designed to make something seem more massive than it should probably be (new level up visual and skill effects come to mind)

Yup you know it🤣 being level 30 back then meant you were doing something and it gave you a chance to use your job skills instead of the crappy beginner skills. Making friends and playing with friends was so fun and addicting!!!🤣 it made the grind worth it
At least this maple story makes sense. Even tho you have to grind a lot nowadays with the explorers you get SO MANY cutscenes and suddenly you can do second job advancement without even doing anything. At least in the old school it feels de deserved

I had to ask my friend who was good at rpgs to help me. Reboot is boring af single player dailystory, at least on classic I can have the freedom to grind ONE character and have the potential to max out their stats (without blowing up my wallet)

I also had a melee thief because I loved their main mobbing skill - the OG multiple line generator lol
Classic MapleStory is great! However, when they first introduced the main saga is when I started. I was super excited when they revealed the demon class and I could help out that demon girl and take down the new villain. Too bad that new MapleStory isn't as fun as it used to be but at least it's not MapleStory 2 which was deleted.
I remember rolling the attribute dice so many times to get the perfect stats. On these times if you commited a mistake you needed to go trough the grinding all over from 0...

I would 100% play a classic MS server. In modern MS you just don't fear the golem pit traps but in classic they make you sweat. So I would say game design is better.
the best thing they can do for classic maplestory officially is just do a recreation of Maple Island and Victoria Island and make it level 260 through level 400 content, but you keep the level cap at 300 when you release the content so everyone can experience mobs that one shot you if you touch them creating true fear and exploration like the old days, and can make certain mobs basically unkillable because of the level difference. Death by level 360 stone golem anyone?

Yes! I would love to be a demon class fighting the dark mage in MapleStory but with all the old gameplay mechanics. That challenge is what new MapleStory lacks.
Obviously clerics. It's actually a staple fact of all low rate servers just releasing to roll cleric to both better contribute to the early parties and the economy. Of course you don't want everyone to be a cleric. But even then, the more the merrier.
What we really need to see is the ludi Pq I still remember the part we’re there’s a jump quest that everyone had to do it had certain number sequence you had to follow I always forgot it so I literally had to write it down then Followed by that was multiple rooms each one had a mini boss you had to defeat before the big boss
horntail was strongest endgame after zakum/papulatus/pianus but didn't come out until release of 4th job. bean came one year later, so i'd assume horntail if they have 4th job implemented

Man I wish they would came up with a classic ms. Fixing all the "issues" tho... HP washing? Removed, get HP scrolls from bosses (capped at 3-5 per Boss lifetime). A few class balancing, a dps meter... and everything would be perfect.
Oh trust me nowadays you can get to 100 is 1 hour getting to 200 takes ease to certain people. But back then making it to lvl 30 was hella slow and painful. It was night & day. It would take you 1 month at least to make it 30. Hell if you made it 70 you were a legend. Being the first 200 was like god. That’s why Fangblade is legendary. There was another before fangblade but Nexon and the company wizet or whatever do not acknowledge him considering he was found out having hacked his way up to 200.

I'm playing Mapleroyals right now. Old school maplestory is fun but I wish they could update the skill system. As a warrior, recovering hp quicker or from a ladder, +20 def/m.def at max level, final fkin atk, elemental resistance...etc so many useless skills

I'm playing Mapleroyals right now. Old school maplestory is fun but I wish they could update the skill system. As a warrior, recovering hp quicker or from a ladder, +20 def/m.def at max level, final fkin atk, elemental resistance...etc so many useless skills
